Yeah.. but it's "long live!" It's short for the phrase "Heika Tennou Banzai!" Or in direct translation: "Currently-Reigning Heaven-King Long-live!" It's like saying "God Bless America" or "God Save the King" it's a national blessing thing. So... It's probably okay. Plus, His Majesty's reaction probably made it so that anyone upset didn't do anything about it. Since He bowed at the person saying it.

This is important because the emperor almost never bows, one important exception being when saluting war heroes. Before WW2 the emperor used to visit the Yasukuni shrine to pay respects to war heroes and Japanese soldiers were well aware of this. They knew that if they died in combat the emperor himself will come to pay respects. 'See you at Yasukuni' was a commonly used phrase to say goodbye among soldiers. However the emperor (since Hirohito) has stopped visiting the shrine allegedly because WW2 war criminals from Tokyo Trial were 'secretly' included in the shrine's 'book of souls'. Now they have a separate ceremony (that you see in the video) outside the shrine.

Seeing all these jokes made about the ww2, it's extremely interesting that everyone seems to be more focused on how the word sounds than its meaning.
The same with symbols. People on the internet seems to think that the world unanimously agrees that the nazi symbol represents the atrocities they committed when in reality, Hitler used it for the sole reason that it looks cool. They don't care if it has a different meaning in other cultures. Everyone just doesn't want see it. They don't want others to use it either. The meaning and origin be damned. And then they act like the people who has no knowledge of the Nazis are the uneducated ones, lol. Not everyone is fed with useless information that has nothing to do with their lives at an early age. Making yourselves the center of everything and not respecting other cultures is ironically what uneducated people would act.

Schützengrabenvernichtungspanzerkraftwagen you mean those nuclear weapons which prevented a full scale invasion of the Japanese Homeland, which would have most likely ended in houndreds of thousands of more lives lost
? Not to mention, the Soviet Union was already preparing their own offensive against Japan after the surrender of the German forces in the west. Would you have preferred a country split between Russia and the U.S.? Or possibly occupied by Russia alone? Would history have been more favorable too you with the increased Lose of life, and potential communist dictatorship that could have taken place just like in North Korea?

It is arguably the most touching video ever. It makes me not only appreciate the Japanese people.. but it makes me fascinated by human kind, and ignites in me a terrible and confusing feeling. Cultures, History , War and Peace. The tragedies of the past and the hopes of the future all come together in this short video. It is a purely human experience! Long live the emperor and long live Japanese people. And may all nations of this blue pearl live under the blessing of perpetual peace.

Japan is the only country on Earth to have breached in all impunity all laws of preservation of Biodiversity of the Oceans by whaling and TAIJI Dolphins Slaughtering, this should be considered as an act of war:
      1) United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
      2) United Nations Charter on Nature on 1982.
      3) The International Antarctic Sanctuary Treaty on 1994

      7) The ONLY country ever to kill whales under the ridiculous lies of "Scientific Research".
      8) The ONLY country not whaling in their own territorial waters.
      9) The ONLY Country that have diverted donations to victims of Tsunami to modernize their 13 slaughters-ships.(2011)
      10) The ONLY Country that finance 13 Whalers ships (Nisshin Maru and its infamous fleet) on Public funds tax levied on Japanese Citizens and profit go straight in ICR Pocket
11)The ONLY Country that slaughter Dolphins in TAIJI to sell some selected to Marine Parks.
      12) The ONLY Country that decimates Marine life and Biodiversity of the Oceans for Profit of few people involved in dirty Businesses..
      13) The ONLY Country that sacrificed Whales, Dolphins and also Children in Child Porn and has the highest level of child abuse ever because they are part of the Japan dirty businesses covered at the top of their Japanese Politics.

It actually means "Ten Thousand Years of Happiness" although technically it translates as "Ten Thousand Years" and is derived from the same phrase that was saluted to the Emperor of China starting in about the Tang Dynasty around the year 619. It is exclusively used for the Emperor and was used by China, Korea, Vietnam, and Japan. Since only Japan has the only surviving Imperial Family and Emperor of the four nations, it is used sparingly for the Emperor of Japan in modern day.

@@aii_penguin9096 Incorrect. The current emperor on the throne is almost always referred to simply as Tennō Heika (天皇陛下, lit. "His Majesty the Emperor") or formally as Kinjō Heika (今上陛下).

    • @aii_penguin9096

Nightbird Ehhh 陛下 can be translated as Imperial Majesty.
The term itself was used towards Emperors of Chinese tradition which was adopted across East Asia.
The idea of 陛下 can be translated as Imperial Majesty as opposed to other styles for Princes and Kings.
Kings in China historically was just a great noble title usually given to princes after the first Emperor.
