Gaz ive watched you for years.... This beautiful and excellently thought out space is perfect for you. And the gratitude just oozes out of you. Im genuinely so proud of you and so encouraged for this next season with this exquisite space. Ive been in gardening and food forestry for nearly two decades this year and my husband just built my dream island to help accomodate the harvests better. Just that one piece took so much TLC, i cant imagine the entire kitchen. Being created with this in mind. Congrats!!!
Your kitchen is pure perfection. I love how it is full of beauty, quality and character. When you surround yourself with beauty and quality, it inspires you and helps to push you towards new creative heights. That Parisian island is stunning and I love how the scuffs on the front of it sort of match your “June” painted walls. I mean, how great is it to have June colored walls?! Peace and beauty are just dripping down in this kitchen. Even when you are in the midst of filming, or frenetically cooking for a large party, there will be a part of you that is still, calm, and quiet. This kitchen is a dream! I thought a nice solution to the backsplash would be to get some vintage/refurbished big tiles either leaning (if they were large floor tiles) or on the wall so they are easy to clean but make a nice statement
This made me cry. So beautiful and such a great expression of you at this time, I’m homeless, living with relatives, so totally safe and sound. Haven’t had my own home for almost 9 months. It seems like longer, haha. Anyway, your video gave me hope for a kitchen of my own, that it can be made in a way that looks like it has been there for years. I love the look! Practical and aesthetically-pleasing is the best kitchen combo. And the green color with the warmth of the walls makes it a soothing and calming place to be.
The best part is seeing your joy in your lovely new space! We bought a house 3 years ago and changed nothing because everything is working and functioning and didn’t want to spend on aesthetics but you inspired me to go ahead and make it something that sparks joy and pride.

I absolutely love the island, don’t get rid of it. With just a small pedestal built under it, it will fit in perfectly and fit you perfectly as well.

Looks like a Tuscan kitchen. Love it! It would look really awesome with a handpainted Italian tile mural behind the stove, with painted veggies or something like that.
Gaz, to protect the paint against splashing you could use wall varnish. I have colourless one with a matte finish in my kitchen but there are also glossy versions. It's grease-resistant, almost invisible and easy to clean.
Gaz i love your kitchen, its incredibly personal, homely and natural! my absolute dream! if you find you need a splashback, making and glazing your own ceramic tiles in a local studio would add another personalised touch or re-purposing vintage tiles you find at markets/fb marketplace 😊🌿💚 (it would also be fun to make your own ceramic dinnerware!)

I’ve never cared for any kitchen but I’m in awe of the quality of materials used…I do love real wood and concrete. Your walls make me think of traditional mud huts here in South Africa, they tend to be lime washed in earth colours. Like wash is more organic and natural than paint I believe

Fantastic kitchen. Classic farmhouse style. 10/10. What a rare gem.
For backsplash you could do a thin copper plate to stay consistent. But a simple stainless sheet could match well also, in line with that fantastic stove you got there.
I like the kitchen island. If anything you can throw I nice thick butcher block on top to elevate the surface for much cheaper than a whole new kitchen island. ✨
Your kitchen is beautiful and I am sure it fits in wonderfully with your homestead in your hills winding Wales it will age gracefully with each of your meals...gosh hearing you describing your vintage finds, market adventures and your love of aged textural goodies...it's a shame Gaz I think we could of been soul mates but shame your 20 years to young your love of linen sheets got me. Polyester sheets is a deal breaker.BTW that hair is awesome.

For the backsplash, you could put up a clear laminate to keep the esthetic until you find something better. It would be easy to wipe in the mean time should anything get back there.
I also love the hot water tap for rapid hot water especially with it being filtered.

Yes, you could do homemade, but there are some that can be purchased almost like a wall paper that can be peeled that you could put up easily with an exacto-knife or X-Acto-knife. They are actually fairly cheap as you can get the laminate and exacto/X-acto knife for about $30 or less which is around £24 or less depending on how much you need. The back splash may also be called wall protector. It’s a cheap easy solution until you find something you like better in the kitchen. 😊

I love the kitchen, very warm and it looks like an old movie set or the hobbit house. I would definitely keep the island. If you feel it is to low, raise it and try and salvage the trim piece at bottom to cover the feet that will elevate it.

I really love your kitchen Gaz and also collect old and arty stuff, beautiful how you have put it all together! In my last house, I fitted a glass panel behind my stove so I could see the colour of my wall...it was perfect and easy to keep clean! Love your videos and amazing food, you are truly a natural! The kitchen is gorgeous. If you want to keep the same plan with using cutting boards behind the stove, I think you could. You could collect some rough or damaged vintage cutting boards and cut them into small tiles and attach them to the wall like a tile backsplash made of rustic wood. The difference in thickness of the tiles would add an interesting texture. Only if you are concerned about that wall getting greasy or discolored. It's an absolute dream kitchen. You're such a lovely person, I am so happy that you got this excellent space to work and present from.

I have been planning my home for a few years and collecting old treasures too :) love antiques and bringing magic back to old things ❤ really brings joy! Absolutely love the window too… then you get to the stove!!! Dreams have been made a reality!!! The project as a whole is a labour of love and just warms the soul to see what you have created!!! I love your kitchen and adjoining working spaces. The cabinetry is beautiful (green is my favorite color). It's a perfect mix of old and new and is classic through and through. I have been on the hunt for a vintage circular window for my kitchen to free up some wall space. If your future wife is smart, she'll allow you to keep those rings.

Working on my outdoor kitchen, where I can cook for the summers, when it is too hot to be cooking indoors, and making the AC and conditioned basement air work harder than it needs to. Thinking about using retaining wall bricks for the bottom, and rivercane harvested from the property to make a windbreak and rain cover.... And I want it to look similar to the cooking pit in Howl's Moving Castle, a large, open fosh mouth. 🐟🎏🍚🥧🥘🍕 🍲

I still can't believe you lived for three years without a working kitchen, that's incredible and a testament to your character and personality, that you wanted it to be built from the word go, and watch it come together like fermentation. What a wonderful space, it's definitely going on my inspiration board. That apothecary sign is the cherry on top. All of that time working in many and varied kitchens beforehand although challenging was probably a blessing as you could get a feel for what worked & what didn't, what you really liked and disliked and to be able to really hone in on what your priorities are. Each item is curated and meaningful and another layer of building that sense of a timeless space that has history. You have left space for changes and future planning and not made if feel unfinished by any means. I was sincerely impressed with the kitchen but when you went into your pantry space as well I was blown away that there was even more. Great job, enjoy your dream kitchen and thanks so much for sharing. (also looking forward to seeing the hair products you make as I like to make my own where I can).
I LOVE the island!! You could put it on a low platform or "Feet" to bring it up. One thing I do like is that we can see the entire counter and stovetop behind you, in the shot. But maybe they can angle the shot so we can still see the counter tops.
