Bro reacting to himself saying true had me dying
I'm using my ceramic super reds for about 4 years. I switched trucks around 3-4 times, deck about a dozen, wheels 3-4 times and the ceramic is the only one I never really replaced because I didn't really have to.
22.50 is still too much for me! I've been skating Cheapshots for years, cost me £14 for 8. They're abec 3. But I'm not really interested in abec ratings as they have nothing to do with skateboarding at all.
it does matter, tighter tolerances = higher RPM’s thats why your skateboard rolls way slower but you clearly like it, its all preference you dont have to spend the biggest buck to have the most fun, fun is what you make it ☝🏼
@@BradenSlayerThat is incorrect. Abec rating matters for industrial use for machines going up to 30,000 rpm that need the precision machining of abec 7 bearings. Not skateboarding.
@@romktch17I'm surprised the other guy believes that abec matters for skateboarding. abec rating has been proven for years not to matter lmao
I have one wheel with cheapshots that spin for as long as my Bronson raws. Cheapshots are good.
@@BradenSlayer Imagine being so astronimcally wrong lol
1 year 4 months later and my Ceramic Super Reds are still going and super smooth and fast, so I figure they wind up being cheaper. I am about to put them back on my main setup. At first they were too fast and smooth. Every push was 1½ pushes. Different sound that Swiss, but I am used to it now. Probably great for transition, vert, or when you need speed. My boy at the park needed my backup yesterday to get enough speed.
The blue Big Balls do look nice, especially with Ricta Crystal Cores 52mm (clear and blue) 95a (right between dragons and X97s) with a hard core (so they make sound), and the sound is nice, too.
yeah I recently bought the reds ceramics and it really made a difference. I used to ride the blue ones. With the old berrings I had to push like 4 or 5 times to go a full city block, on the ceramics I push once and i just coast the whole block.
to me that makes the price worth it right there
If you’re a bearing breaker, try using spacers and washers. Most bearings do need them for strength. Or try race reds with spacers and washers built in.
If you're not using spacers and washers the inner race just spins on the axle instead of the cage and bearings rotating.
There are also 2 sizes of spacers 10mm and 12mm.
I think the best bang for your buck and quality is the Redz big balls! They seem to roll with one push forever, even on bad ground. It's something about the larger ball bearings, they just roll more because there's more ball to roll.
im gona try em
less balls will probably mean less friction, but i don't know about the durability and how they handle impact. But 15 $ mini logo bearings will also work.
@@gegoamme8393 i run then in my double kick and on my aggressive blades for years and have help up well compared to stock reds.
Bearings are designed for bearing loads. They are made to operate with a certain load. Dropping the skateboard without a person on it is an ineffective test. The ceramics use a harder material for the balls. They will not deform like metal. As long as the balls don't break they will maintain the same geometry and performance. Not saying I would buy them, but they could theoretically last longer than the skater.
Machine Gun Kelly Skates?
lol
lol
I got some Bones Swiss from Temu for shits and giggles and they were actually really good considering i payed less then the cheap Bones Reds.
I love my dragons, or I prefer the Nano Cubics for the shape but they are the same formula. Powell team was just testing out ANOTHER new wheel the other day.
Hope it's not a surprise that they were knockoffs... Dragons are good for cruising but I'd ride the X99 if you're skating smoother surfaces
I’ve been skating bones red’s ceramics for the last 7 years in my mane setup. I’ve never had a set of bearings last this long and they seem to get faster with age. All I do is take them out and shake them in some acetone once and awhile and then dry them off and they’re good to go. Thinking about buying the Swiss version
7:57 I'm like Hey! what's up? Hello!
Switched from the 6 ball to the ceramics and back. 6 ball is the way to go I think ceramic bearings are just are hard gimmick tbh, the 6 balls are smoother and spin longer / lasted longer.
I have a set of Swiss ceramics that are almost 20 years old. I just clean and lube them twice a year.
@@vorpalblades Same.
Ceramics won’t rust as bad as normal bearings though
"Greetings gimps"🔥🔥
We have Gympie here in Australia, the place is full of gymps.
my redz ceramics coming in the mail.
bro im broke as heck, nobody highers 15 year olds where i live, it took me 6 months to save up for a board, and i jus broke my deck, its been about 3 weeks since i broke my board, and im only 30 dollars in, money is tough bro, not to mention my shoes are torn and i have scars on my feet from skating
High school skater?

@@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALL thanks man!
@@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALL ive been trying to support the local skate shops as much as i can haha
im 30 secs in and commenting bang for buck is bones reds. love the video. bronsons are so good.
Another thing... The last bearings aren't Bones Swiss Ceramics, they're bones reds ceramics.. If you want Swiss ceramics you're looking at another 100 pounds. And if you look at the leaflet on the Swiss 6 it clearly states that the bearings need to be "broken in" for at least an hour until they are at optimal speed.
Webz: worst thing about skating is taking bearings out of wheels
Also Webz: TRUE! 😂
Just a slight difference in the force you use when pumping doing the round with the bearings could affect the speed and time for the round though, so the «drop test» roll test might be slightly more accurate, even though it should be done with weight on the board for more force and probably (theoretically at least) a true’er roll test result :)
Another aspect to this you didn’t touch upon is how long they’ll last - the more expensive ones are made of harder, more durable materials, theoretically lasting longer, however that doesn’t matter much if they aren’t cleaned and oiled on a regular basis - no bearing will magically clean itself out, so over time they will all be crapped up.
Proper, regular cleaning and oiling *will* make any bearing above a certain price point last longer and perform better. Any bearing not cleaned will deteriorate in performance, regardless of material, even though the harder ceramic ones might be able to «crush» minor particles a bit longer. The harder materials in ceramics (both the ceramic balls and the metal) will provide less friction (if properly cleaned and oiled) and will last longer in the long run.
Also: there is no «break in» time for bones bearings because they come with speed cream instead of grease. Cheaper style bearings with metal cages for the balls have grease in them, which warms up and lubricates over time (the break in period), which might affect feel. Bones have delrin cages and come with speed cream which is more of an oil rather than grease, so they don’t have to be «warmed up» to lubricate in the same manner as cheaper steel cage/grease bearings.
Did you put spacers in in the ceramics test btw? even though they didn’t come with spacers?
you just brought back a old argument ! i love it .... personally if you maintain the bearings its good enough
Got big blue ones for my deck last year. Once you break em in, they are smooth as butter, especially in skate park. Think will stick with them for a long time.
I spent a lot of time reading about bearings for cycling and one major takeaway is that the bearing seals and even the grease used will make a bigger difference in rolling tests like this. A weighted board would be an interesting test to see. Also a followup test of the bearings after a set number of hours riding them.
You should of put a bag of sand on the board, the bearings will be totally different under load.
I buy spitfire cheapshots they are about £10 occasionally they dry up so I spray some silicone spray on them.
I love how you can hear the opera gx background music from the open browser
For me the best out there are Bronson G3.
I would like to see this video be done with different brands, like Bronson and Andale.
From my personal experience it seems like the longevity of the wheel and the overall maintenance required is what determines the price (?) Standard reds or big balls seem to need to be cleaned way more frequently to be able to hold up to rain skating/sandy-dusty parks, but the ceramics can handle it and not get gunked up/slow down quite as much. I baby TF outta my board and clean it very often normally, but I noticed the ceramics don't lock up quite as easily
I'm just a beginner but went through 2 boards now, all I use is the cheap reds for $30 they seem to me like they go fast enough but I tend to ride in wet environments so they tend to get rusty pretty quick
After you ride it wet conditions, take them out, WD-40 them up and clean them up, let them dry out, then lube them up with some Skate Lube, then re-install, they will last. 👍
I must have the sturdiest board ever because I’m 200+ plus pounds and it still hasn’t snapped and I’ve had it for a year. Ride it all the time too.
stop throwing your bearings away. clean them, there are instreuctional videos. good as new
'
@@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALL the wd works to dry them out? i never tried it. i use my heat gun
@@chrhadden Heat gun would work too! WD-40 is a Water Displacement spray (WD) so it pushes and gets out all the water and cleans them up a bit, it is not a good lubricant though, which is why you need to lube them with oil after. But yea, drying them out with a heat gun and then oiling them after would be fine too, as long as that water is all gone, to prevent rust, then re-lube with a proper lubricant oil! Definitely don't need to keep buying new ones if you maintain them properly after getting wet. 👍
Hey Dan, if your local to Cambridge the guys over at Scenic skate shop in Huntingdon are working on setting up an indoor skate park as there isn't one in the whole county (except your mini). Depending on what content your after it could be a cool project to cover the birth of a skate park.
Hear hear, I’m on the Suffolk Essex cambs borders and indoor parks are just non existent without a trek and barely worth it for a skater, this area is probably the most bare in the country for how bad the lack of parks is, most of what’s here is small and outdated so there’s def room for big improvement. If I could I’d set up an indoor park, and make it a lot more raw street orientated… not like a training ground which is what they all end up like to a degree
“I won’t be pausing the video too much” proceeds to pause the whole video
i use nano tech classics, they are insane cost around 40-60 bucks, i prefer them for cruising and in parks i use Bronson G3 with harder wheels
I buy a set of new bearings everytime I get new wheels..Bronson G3's have been my go to for the past couple of years.
The biggest difference between the $30 vs $120 you’ll notice is when you are in the streets trying to film a 2-3 trick line. If the line takes an hour to make, you’ll be way more tired after trying on the $30 vs the $120. It all comes down to energy consumption I believe at least.
thats true, i'm a lazy street skater, using bearings with minimum push to get the most meters out of a push
I think you and Carlos ladstra would make a good couple
nice video dude. Just got Bones X formula, 97a Widecut, as an alternative from dragon, harder wheel feel. Skate swiss as well :) Skated Spitfires Full Conical 101s for last 3 years, bones seem to do it ngl. look forward to dragon vid
16:50 searching my desktop for that notification........
🤣Me too
Amazing!! Thx for the comparison! 🤘🤘
I tried Reds for a while, never really got on with them. Spitfire Classics (same price) have been so much better in my experience.
i personally bought a pair of quantum metallics instead of bones cuz why seem to last longer
Can you do Bronson bearing next ?
im skating some 20+ year old bearings that came with a set of pocket pistols pool crushers that my uncle gave me
Nice!!!....I already ride big balls and formula 4's
Fuck no ain't worth it and I haven't even seen the vid😂 I'm still on the ad
Try revanced blocks ads
i've been super budget past few years. tried Element's $15CDN "premium" bearings. actually not bad compared to Reds. should try putting a few of the cheap bearing sets from the major companies against each other. saw some around same price from Element, Indy, Pig, etc..
Standard Bones reds with spacers since day one 🤙
What sunglasses are those? And great video as always !
If you have the option & extra money buy the swiss bearings from bones they will last you longer and save you time as well as money going back and forth to the shop getting bearings is a hassle so save yourself the trouble cheaper bearings usually last acouple months you can't really clean them like a swiss bearing you don't have to keep undoing you're axel bolts replacing bearings the less maintenance you have to do on the board the better off you will be
more expensive bearings are worth it to me. im not sure about the lasting longer thing though. i had bronson ceramics 2 of them went bad on me, i think my wheel wasnt tight enough and sliding fkd them up. also bearing spacers will give you the aids. (seriously though they slow you down and change the sound of a skateboard) and are totally unneccessary because of the inside of a wheel has a spacer
I put some 69mm powell snakes with some sunday big ball bearings on a setup and I dont feel safe going down hills anymore on that setup, its great. I also have some spitfire cheapshots that spin for as long as some of my Bronson raws, I need to clean them to judge better.
Yeah snakes go suprisingly fast and also when sideways ssschhh brr❤
Tbh bearing cost doesnt really matter at this point even cheap ones go faster depends on the wheel if you have a big ass wheel you gonna go fast
I’m just curious, did u hand tighten the bolts onto the wheels, or did u edit out when u actually tightened them??
Spitfire CheapShots are quite amazing. Only $12 up here in alaska
Swiss ceramic or red ceramic ?
Class chris webby shirt
awsome vid , i always wondered the difference
If you actually put miles on your board, good bearings will make a difference, if all you do is skate bowls or ride your board 20 ft at a time, prob just stick with Reds
Wonder wich ones are better in 6 months?
Good video
Nice webby t shirt dude 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥
The Swiss Bones are totally worth it.
where you get them santa cruz pants? they're hard🔥
i rmember being a kid and thinking 150 was fkng absurd
and as an adult, in some clubs all throughout my 20s dropping 300 a night haha
concrete surf in cambridge is a sick skateshop lads there is another one called court skate shop but im more familiar with concrete surf
I use abec 9s great bearing but dont last long might try bones reds
Mini logo's ftw
They are great bearings for sure.
I've been skating the bones Swiss. A little more expensive and they feel the same as the cheap ones. But maybe the durability is better.
I have a set of Swiss that turn 20 this year. Clean and lube them twice a year.
I'm on bronson raws and they slap hard. So much rizz and skibadee.
Better standing on the board and doing it more weight on the board give u better idea what it would be like actually skating them 👍🏻😁
I had a pair of bones reds and they exploded on me after 3 months😢
Test them under load otherwise its pointless
I love your vid’s
Of course the swiss will be slower on the pump round if you don't speed the video up 🤪😉
You could have a different answer from every skater you ask though
£30 for bearing is not cheap. That's even a above average price. Cheap is £10 and below.
cheers Dan!
I didnt know gojo skated
Bronson g3 :)
have you ever sk8ed with john hill? it would be cool if you two were in a video
he literally just uploaded a video about him not making skating videos because hes focusing on his kid and his wife. and honestly i really respect him for that.

Yup i heard they have inhouse casting for wheels so it is easy to get results
But tbh i think the advancement in wheel quality started when Kevin Reimer and Byron Essert got in a PP

damn im early
No one uses bones anymore it’s all all
If you use bones your old school now everyone I know uses bronsons they are are 200x better than bones I use bronson ceramics and I’m telling you now bones are just shite
I'm definitely old school. My Swiss set is almost 20 years old. Bronson hasn't even been around that long. I do like the G3's though. I don't pay more than $20 a set,l pick them up on sale.
