Personally, I have what I call 'Vascidis' and I have no desire to be cured❤ Great reaction! I have yet to hear a negative thing about anything he does.😊

Thank you VERY much for your great reaction. I've subbed, and will definitely be back. I see that many of Dan's army of commenters below, have pretty much thrown everything at you about FUTURE reactions, that I was going to (grin).
I have just one bit to add -- about this song, and Dan's production of it (btw...he does ALL of his own producing...no record companies, etc.). You pretty much described how the journey of learning of God's grace would/should go (thank you...loved it...I agree). In this song, though, Dan doesn't just describe the process, he "lives it."
Watch his eyes (always...in everything he does, really) and his stance.
    In the beginning, with the "nice" voice, his eyes are open, and he's a bit hesitant about telling this new story. Also, he's a little nasal, because he's keeping his chin down (which is definitely something that Dan usually does NOT do, as you'll see as you travel through the rabbit hole that is Dan's lovely music library). So...he's seeing through his eyes, but he's still hesitant about what he's seeing, and he's basically trying to convince himself. {...in order to portray the part...Dan has known the Lord all of his life, actually...}
Then he DOES something that's actually a bit amazing (for some people). He's still singing in the same key, as the orchestral background (he uses MIDI tracks for most things like that) soars in...and he's perfectly in pitch with it. As that happens, his chin comes up, his back straightens, his voice strengthens, and the nasality begins to disappear. Still, though, his eyes are ranging a bit, and he's still SEEING only through THEM, except for when he reflexively sings the wods, "...my fears relieved." As he strongly holds that note, his eyes are still open.
Through the next phrases, he obviously is convincing himself from within. When his voice soars up an octave, he becomes more sure, in all of his stance, but...his eyes are still open. He's looking outward, though, and you can see that as he finishes telling about the toils and snares he's come through, his confidence (not in himself, but in the grace of God) builds and strengthens. His eyes are still open, though he closes them for a brief moment, at "...already come."
Then, with his eyes open, but with a new sureness in his stance and his approach to the lyrics, he enters a new phase, hanging onto his still-somewhat-hesitant realization that God's grace will, indeed, lead him home.
Then comes the "bagpipes." Now when the pipes are used with this song, they usually signify a military funeral--celebrating the grace that strengthened the warrior throughout his military lifetime. By the look on Dan's face, he's "seeing" that kind of knowledge...life has been hard, up to that point,...BUT...he's beginning to believe that there's something different happening within. During that harmonica solo, his eyes are SHUT...firmness and strength from within are beginning to build, and manifest into every fiber of his being.
Then he throws back his head and takes a STRONG stance. His whole stature makes a definite change for the better. Now he is singing with EVERYTHING within himself, and from that point on, his eyes only open a few brief times, as he allows the power from within to flow out of him. What a difference! He suddenly graduates from the gentle, slightly hesitant (but beautiful) singer from the beginning, to one who is significantly stronger and better.
As he triumphantly heads upward into that wonderful (as we all mostly call it) "sing-screaming" phrase, "...I see!!!!" his eyes are totally glued shut, and yet you KNOW that he is definitely SEEING God with all His Grace, and what that MEANS!
Then, as he re-enters Earth's atmosphere, but retains the knowledge of God's wonderful grace, there are the final 23 seconds without another inward breath (from the last, "...I see," until the now fullness of understanding), as his, "Aha!" manifests itself, and Dan ends the journey while seeing life ONLY through his SPIRITUAL eyes, rather than through his PHYSICAL eyes. Notice that he does not open them, even as the last notes fade away, and you can see him bow his head, in the last fading seconds.
    - - - - - - - - - -
As you go through more of Dan's catalog of songs, you'll hear him "do" opera and many other genres of music with the same sort of understanding. Many of us have said that not only does Dan LIVE the song...Dan IS the song, by the time he finishes singing it. He simply has that sort of relationship with music. SO WONDERFUL!

I always love seeing people's reactions to hearing Dan's songs in general, but especially his rendition of this beautiful classic & annointed hymn which, like many others, was my introduction to Dan. I was hooked from that point on. This is my favorite version of Amazing Grace now. Actually, when you commented that you usually didn't do reactions to covers like this because "you couldn't be surprised", I giggled & said ... just wait. Lol. Dan's so full of surprises. Dan is very open about being a Christian & growing up in the Methodist church. He's said before that he knew he wanted to sing professionally after hearing Petra for the first time and he actually did a cover of their song "Beyond Belief" a while back with John Schlitt and John Lawry of Petra. Even Dan's band (Fearless) is comprised of himself, his younger brother (Davi), and two close friends from his church. Check out their song Tale With No End from their album The Chronicles of Ancient Wisdom. It's loosely based on the story of Elijah and Elisha, King Ahab & Queen Jezebel. That's the only one with a video of them performing & one of my favorites.
Loved your reaction & your message at the end, too. As a Christian myself, this hymn is dear to me & Dan just adds power to the reverence in the song.
John Newton, who wrote Amazing Grace, was also a slave in West Africa for a while himself. I only recently found out about that. I hope you'll check out some of Dan's other stuff. I think you'll be quite pleasantly surprised. Thanks so much.😊 Blessings to you and yours.

As a card-carrying member of #VascNation, I just want to give you a bit of information about this guy. Dan is a Christian and he's not at all shy about his faith. He's from Brazil and he served in the Brazilian Army, but he has a profound respect and admiration for the US. He participates in quite a few American podcasts, where he combines his passions for old school movie franchises, vintage video games, music and politics. He's not your average RUclips cover artist, either. He's had classical training and can sing literally any genre of music that he puts his mind to, from full-on opera to Broadway, to 80s and 90's rock and pop classics, but his wheelhouse is symphonic metal.
He actually has his own metal band called Fearless and started a side project with one of his bandmates and life-long friends that they call Spyglass Inn. The duo focuses more or less on folk music and they do it very well. He has quite a bit of original music from both of those groups, in his catalog here on RUclips, including a metal album called "Chronicles Of Ancient Wisdom" that Fearless put out in 2019. Dan does all of his own background vocals, arrangments and mixing and he does all of his stuff live. No lip synching. Ever. And he does it all out of the garage studio that he built at his home.
While I understand that you might not want to react to "covers" because you've likely heard the songs before, I can assure you that you haven't heard them "Dan's way". LOL He's like no other musician/singer that I've ever heard and I guarantee you, I'm far from alone in that. I really hope that you decide to make an exception to your no cover rule and react to more of Dan's material. I promise that you won't be disappointed! God bless and keep on rockin'!!

He really is an absolute genius. Everything he does is stunning. Dan is a Christian and is not ashamed to admit it. He has got his own band 'Fearless'. They have an album called "The Chronicles Of Ancient Wisdom", which I believe is like a story, one track follows on from the other.

The Hymn has had to wait for over 200 years for a young man from Brazil to sing it the way Newton wrote it... not the done thing in England 200+ years ago to shout from the roof tops...John turned his life 360 degrees and all with the Grace he found that stormy night..

Loved hearing your thoughts on Dan's wonderful performance of this classic hymn of faith. Dan can and does almost every genre of music from metal to opera, '80's rock, show tunes and even an amazing Disney Mulan song I'll Make a Man Out of You, that is so much fun and filled with surprises. I do hope you will choose to react to more of his content. You will not be disappointed in how he takes a song and adds his metal flavor to make it new and refreshing. I am subscribed and hope for more. And by the way, you called him Van Dasc, but his name is Dan Vasc. An easy mistake to make. Thanks.

Dan’s covers are not like ordinary covers! I assume that the harmonica is standing in for the traditional bagpipes, BTW. I like your belief comment, & must say, I love how Dan expressed through song the "journey of faith" you hinted at.
I know you don't like covers of songs, but trust me, Dan doesn't do just covers, he does betters. (Exceptions are when he pays tribute to the original work of art & keeps it true to form, except with his own boss vocals).
Others have suggested some of his betters, such as Adeste Fideles & Angels We Have Heard On High, which he made better by delivering the much needed spiritual power.
For regular betters, I suggest his:
    metal-fied Poker Face.
Strong, beautiful & upbeat Kiss By A Rose, a duet with Violet Orlandi
A totally wild collab with himself in Bring Me To Life
And so many more of these betters.
Oh! Check out how he symbolized in song the earthquake in *diverse* places in his O Holy Night rendition.
I could list for forever his songs to check out. I'm totally addicted to his imaginings & skills.
(He makes many songs his own, like Disturbed did with S & G song, or like what Whitney Houston did with Dolly's song).
Oh! That reminds me of what Dan with Celine's song. Whoa doggie!
Enough said, because it's like unless you actually hear Toss A Coin by Dan, you'll never understand anyway.
Thank you for your reaction, & especially for your belief comment. (I am of same belief, I believe).
I hope you fill up your new Dan Vasc folder. Subbing for more, plus to take a listen at your various other folders.
