Thanks for watching my man. If you need any help with patreon, I'm actually an advisor of the company so reach out! I'm going to become a Patron of yours to check and see how you are doing on there! Please put the original video of mine in the description. Explanation of what you are hearing: 120+ Tracks, I'll go back into the session and look for you, but my original version of this is here: ruclips.net/video/nEwzFF4HeB8/видео.html and then on this remixed version I added Tim to half the solo... and boy did he add a lot! -- We've done a lot together since then: Sound of Silence, Bridge over troubled water and we are working on more now. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Jase, Peter Hollens is amazing, please check out his other work! I found him through PTX and became an instant fan!. As others have said he is a master of layering tracks, the "choir" you hear in his videos are usually mostly him. He has an amazing body of work as does his wife Evynne Hollens, another fantastic vocalist (the work on her channel is usually with instrumental accompaniment), they have many duets together. If you want to see him with Avi Kaplan look for Black is The Color of My True Love's Hair. Love, love, love Peter Hollens!! ♥♥♥
My .... This was the best rendition of Misty Mountains ever. I was crying on the first verse I think. Breathtaking, spellbinding, haunting, beautiful...no words...
I would also really recommend the cover he does with Jonathan of Rains of Castamere (Game of Thrones). The accapella version is my favorite over the metal version but both are good
Peter Hollens, in addition to being a wonderful singer, is a master at laying tracks...there are only the 2 guys here...but their backing voices are layered. Awesome!
in a pinned comment, peter mentions there are 120+ layered tracks here. i can't even imagine the amount of work that must have taken to record and make
Sometimes he uses other voices though, to amazing effect. Honestly, Peter's version of "You Raise Me Up" is second only to Josh Groban's (my favorite version as it has has VERY special meaning to me), and it's VERY VERY close, simply because while Josh has the beautiful orchestra, Peter's is all vocal. In fact, given that, I'll go ahead and say it's on par with Josh's. And that is NOT a compliment I give lightly!
Peter is known for singing all the parts in his stuff (except when he has a ft like this) but then he just layers all his recordings together to make a choir of himself
Another Peter Hollens song taken from the Hobbit is called “Hobbit Drinking Medley” and features, rather randomly, the one and only Hank Green! It’s a ridiculously fun song!
That is one of my favorites and honestly, Hank doesn't have a bad singing voice either. Caught me off guard the first time and just makes me smile every time thereafter.
I know Hank Green from the Sci Show, and I didn’t think he could sing, until I heard that. It was AWESOME! I always crack up near the end of the song(the last part of it).
Im not a huge Hobbit fan.. but this really shook me. I have seen Home Free live a few times, and Tim's bass is so low it literally shakes the entire venue.. Last time we saw them we were down in Raleigh NC visiting my daughter who was in the row in front of us.. I leaned forward to say something to her and almost landed in her lap the vibration from Tim was so HUGE!! Enjoy.. if you get a chance, Watch Adam (the beatboxers ) arrangement of Do You Hear What I Hear? Folsom Prison Blues is awesome too.. Tim looks so evil.. especially when he smirks after hitting the inevitable super low note.. and Adam Rupp the beatboxer just looks like he needs to be medicated lol.. Thanks!!
So Peter Hollens has a *Lord Of The Rings cover album.* My favorites are his covers of 'Song Of The Lonely Mountain' and 'I See Fire' which you should totally do a reaction to.
Excellent suggestion, and done in 1 take, too. I would also suggest, Bridge Over Trouble Water( one of my fav collabs with Tim. Their voices sync so well together), and Sounds of Silence.
Yes! My favorite thing on my channel is when I see a comment like this - when someone hears something they've never heard before and they like it. THIS is a win for me. Thank you for being here Jennifer 🤘
When Tim started singing and you pushed your chair away you looked like you were going to cry because of the beauty of his voice and I just wanted to hug you! LOL I know his voice isn't new to you anymore but you react the same way I do when I hear this type of skill and these types of voices. Thanks for another awesome video.
I have loved that version since the first time i heard it. Great great review, and how amazing is it to see Peter come in and leave a great comment. Wonderful!
You are doing a great job with this channel. I have been listening to reaction videos for a couple years now and yours is the first I have subscribed too. You should check out some other peter hollens stuff. He does a collaboration with Malukula ( I probably spelled that wrong.) anyway the Witcher lullaby is absolutely haunting. That's for your efforts they are very much appreciated.
I love Peter Hollens, he does a ton of great work. I also really like The Hanging Tree by him. But for another Pentatonix could you do I'll Run? It's an original song of theirs and its amazing. :)
This is the kind of music you want to hear when you want peace, serenity and pure bliss... Great collab of two great voices in the music kingdom... Great reaction!
@@yelsahblah3270 it is very different. Closer to the original song. The tenor and bass voices work really well for that song too, though Tim also stretches his tenor pipes.
Yes Jase.. Peter Hollens does several parts..he always lays several tracks at different voice parts. HE IS AWESOME! Check out his version of I See Fire :)
if you do peter hollens, consider the following: drinking medley ft hank green some nights hanging tree jenny of oldstones hellfire mad world carry on wayward son circle of life scars to your beautiful
Since you are a fan of Tim Foust and Avi Kaplan, you should also check out: Peter Hollens & Avi Kaplan - Black is the Color Peter Hollens & Tim Faust - Sound of Silence
Man please watch the Irish favourites rubber bandits. Absolute mad craic. Horse outside and black man in our gang are bangers, you'd love them. Great stuff.
That last note from Tim was EPIC!! So haunting. How does Peter hit those high notes so smoothly?? They're both exceptional singers in their own right and mesh together very well.
Oh what an awesome reaction! You didn't have to say a word after the video....your facial expressions during the video said it all! Now you should react to Peter and Tim singing Sound of Silence! If you want one just by Peter....one of my favorites is Circle of Life from the Lion King! You will be amazed!
If you dig the deep-voiced dwarf music, you absolutely must check out Clamavi De Profundis’ renditions of Durin’s Song, Misty Mountains, and other Tolkien poems set to music by them and others. They’re a family of basses and baritones, and they absolutely do not get the attention they deserve. Check out Durin’s Song, seriously. And make sure your bass boost button is ON.
I read somewhere Tim was on a tropical island and Peter was in Oregon when filmed. They filmed it separately and were able to match the pitches, tempo and tamber of the song perfectly. Perter covered baritone, tenor, and more! Crazy good talents on display.
Another great great Hobbit song is the Song of The Lonely Mountain from Peter Hollens! It is quite a bit faster than this one and I think you would really enjoy some of the layering in there.
hey, loved the two on Tuesdays. Now I hope you enjoy other collabs that Tim, Avi, and Petter cover. Glad you enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy the other ones that they do, making them top ones to listen to for you along with many other people.
I just stumbled upon this channel today, and I have thoroughly enjoyed what I've seen so far! I like how you're trying different genres of music as well, that's awesome. If you get the chance, you should check out Ignite-Wagakki Band; it's Japanese folk metal.
This is one of my favourite Peter Hollens and Tim Foust collabs. It makes every hair at the nape of my neck stand on end, every time. I've lost count how many times I've played it. Glad you liked it, too.
Jase, I love your reactions! I'm a recent subscriber and fell in love with the way you react to good music! Thanks for being open about accepting suggestions and keep rocking on!
Peter is the embodiment of a tenor, and Tim is the embodiment of a bass and together they make the best music I have ever heard. BTW: in other songs peter tells us the number of tracks it took him to make the song, and in one of them at least there were over 100 tracks
If you haven’t listened to Peter before, he always does all the parts if it’s just him. These two have done quite a few collabs, and he does some with Home Free as well. Loved this! New subbie here - glad I found you!!! Yes .... it’s human - it’s Tim!!!
Peter Hollens is a master at singing, voice layering, and video editing... Everything I have seen of his is this amazing. He often collaborates with other singers, but his "solo" layering performances can blow your mind. You should check out his "The Epic Hand Washing Parody" - if you liked Home Free's Quarantine you will like this!
Your reaction to tim’s last note was exactly mine! I think the dwarves sang that song when they barged into Bilbo’s house for dinner. I think. I haven’t gone back and watched the hobbit movies since discovering this cover.
Tim not only hit that note, he held it for 13 seconds which is almost unheard of for a bass. If you ever get a chance to see Home Free in concert, go! Tim is known for blowing out the speakers, and knocking out the ceiling tiles with those massive low notes. The whole night your seat, and the floor vibrate from those low notes. And at times, when he goes really low like this, you'll feel this pressure building in you chest. It makes you start to wonder if you're having a heart attack. Thanks, your face said it all!
Peter is an absolute master of layering - some of his solo videos can have up to 160 tracks, and they sound awesome. He also does some great collaborations - 4 with Tim, and 2 more with all of Home Free, but many other wonderful musicians as well. I'll be always be happy to see reactions to his music.
Love Peter and Tim together! I see you got Peter’s attention. He first collaborated with Home Free, I believe 2014 or 2015. He has done several collars with Home Free as group also.He is an amazing singer and so creative! I loved your reaction to Tim’s low notes, especially at the end! Imagine seeing Home Free live (after this pandemic is over)! If you sit close enough to the stage you can feel it in your seat, and your whole body! It’s an experience you’ll never forget!
Since you liked this video, and especially Tim's low vocals so much, I would suggest listening to The Hound + The Fox ft. Tim Foust singing We Three Kings. I know its not Christmas time but it is another great one. This couple (Reilly & Mackenzie) have been in a few Home Free videos & had Tim & Chance feature in some of theirs (as R&M had been a part of Home Free's early production team) and they have also sang with Peter Hollens as well.
That deep note was made using the growl technique, basically you yse the other set of vocal quoards, which makes a sound that really deep (sorry for any misspelling, English isnt my first languagd)
Jase, welcome to the world of Peter Hollens. I've heard him sing as low as Tim Foust (I'm huge fan of Tim) and he also has a range into the stratosphere! He has a following of over 2.3 million people. I've followed Peter for years and years and you'd be good to follow him too.
Peter is a beast of an arranger. Someone else wrote that both Tim and Avi’s very best work is with Peter and I truly agree. Peter understands his guests’ strengths and weaknesses and arranges accordingly. He’s also super humble and really lets his guest shine. Peter has already done Misty Mountains by himself and it was epic. But he rearranged an already complex song because Tim. Watch his Skyrim theme with Lindsay Sterling.
If you check out The Last Goodbye, the end credit song for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies! it was written by Billy Boyd, the actor who played Pippin. And it was written, in part, on my friend's guitar!! He was coming to a convention we were working for, and had requested an acoustic guitar to borrow for the weekend, because he was still working on it! :)
I'm enjoying watching you explore all of these great artists Jase! You should check out Paint (aka Jon Cozart), especially his After Ever After (the original, plus 2 & 3). Also, if you're a fan of parodies at all, the Hillywood Show does a fantastic job at paying tribute to their favorite tv shows and movies by making music videos. I highly recommend their Supernatural Parodies (1 & 2), Stranger Things, Sherlock and Suicide Squad. Of course, all Weird Al is awesome (Amish Paradise, Tacky, Word Crimes, + 40 years worth of music). Keep up the great work!
This is incredible! Peter Hollens also featured Avi Kaplin in the video (Black is the color of my true love's hair) check it out!! There's a video of Avi singing that at a tour in gosh 2014 I think, just messing around but truly amazing
This song always reminds me of a giant cathedral with their voices like a massive pipe organ echoing around. Probably the best of Peter Hollens wide range of excellent work - and Jase is right that Tim is just about not human - he has done a few tutorial videos on some of the singing techniques he uses to hit those super low notes. They both seem like genuinely wonderful guys.

Yes yes yes!
He needs to do Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair! Been trying to get him to do it for a while
Cant upvote this enough
Yes! One of my favorite collaborations with Avi Kaplan. Also check out Peter Hollens “From Now On” - The Greatest Showman too! Love his stuff!
Tim never blinks once just stares into your soul as he does his thing, what a great cover.
I saw one slight blink as the camera came back on him at one point. But you have to really look for it! :)
Peter Hollens, in addition to being a wonderful singer, is a master at laying tracks...there are only the 2 guys here...but their backing voices are layered. Awesome!
Agreed and if you want your mind COMPLETELY blown by Peter and Tim as a combination, I would recommend Sound of Silence! Peter is a layering genius

MegaPowGaming YES!!!! This is one of my favorites!!!!
Yeees!! Masterpiece!!
So few reactions to this masterpiece.
I love Avi Kaplan, and Peter Hollens is good but I really really wasn't a fan of that video. Not sure why.
What's wonderful about Peter Hollens is that he truly lets his guests shine! he's amazingly talented and humble!! He makes my heart smile!!
Tim has actually blown speakers with his amazing voice!
So has Avi. There is a video of it somewhere in RUclips land.
Die beiden haben so wunderbare Stimmen....Mysterium....

Tim can definitely drop the bottom out of a song, can't he? Love listening to his voice!!!

Oh and this song is about a Dwarf kingdom in the misty mountains (literally in the mountain) that has been taken over by a dragon
You have to listen to "Greensleeves" by these two!! You wont regret it :D
Awesome! The one in the movie is fantastic too! The lead dwarf is pretty great and has a deep voice too! No where near Tim, but still very beautiful.

Jase, welcome to the world of Peter Hollens. I've heard him sing as low as Tim Foust (I'm huge fan of Tim) and he also has a range into the stratosphere! He has a following of over 2.3 million people. I've followed Peter for years and years and you'd be good to follow him too.
You should listen to Peter Hollens Pirates of the Caribbean medley!! It's so cool!!
I legit held my breath for a good 30 seconds cuz this is SO AMAZING! With one hand in the air the whole time, might i add😶😶😶🎼🎶🎵🎤💕😭
@ 6:32 Tim's voice goes so low, the harmonics rock the camera!!! Damn that man can sing.
Peter Hollens and Tim Foust Sound of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Water and Greensleeves
Peter has stated that they recorded over 120 tracks putting this together. Thats a serious amount of work, props to the sound engineer!
Tim is the best I have ever heard.
That was amazing! Rise by Superfruit! You should do that one next. 😊
‘I won’t give up’ this video is great to see peters layering he shows himself in multi view with all the parts!!!
Warbringers: Jaina - Daughter of the Sea - Peter Hollens
