- In this video I work on a page in my Scrappy Journal. My Scrappy Journal consists many of junk and old painted papers. I use my scraps in it and some paint and ink I already had sitting in a palette. This was a 'no pressure page' - it was simply about 'free flow creativity' and enjoying the process. #useyourscraps #junkjournal #grungyart

Kylie, do you thicken your gesso? Mine is so runny, I'm sure it needs thickening... I've enjoyed watching you do your spread, the way you collage and use paint. It looks great, and fab found words. Good music too! Mx

The words are so perfect! The older I get the more I realize that living in the moment is what truly brings us joy. I was fascinated to watch how the layer of collage paper interacted with the paints and other color media when they were used. So interesting. A random thought that passed through my head was as I watched you use the brown and black how beautiful it was in the context of your particular style. And those are colors I almost never choose. For a moment I thought maybe I should but then I thought “no.” My art is not your art, my style is my own and I should embrace it and celebrate it. Which doesn’t mean I can’t see and embrace your vision and style and see how beautiful it is. Ten years ago I would have been trying to do it just like yours. In fact 10 years ago I was trying to duplicate other artists’ style and color use and being very unhappy with it. What a positive change that has been. Maybe I’ll finally get wise before I die.

😂 I probably shouldn't admit this but I like the dots of red! I now know what to do with the blood smears I find on my art when I'm cutting stuff and cut my finger and don't realize it until I see the blood. I can add red accents and keep on crafting.

That’s a good idea to just getting involved in the process. And not worried about outcome. Beautiful !! I love using text in my artwork too. Using found words is so awesome. I love doing cathartic stream of thought writing and then also adding collage text.. Thank you for sharing with us!
