    I'm not a fan of there not being a canon ending to this questline. Future Elsweyr storylines are awkward as it is painstakingly obvious that the writers are trying to avoid mentioning the Mane, leader of the Khajiit, to not conflict with the players' inconsequential choice.

    This brought two questions to my mind:
    1) Would it be possible to have two Manes at one time, if it's like in this case, that twins are born at the same time? Let's say, through some weird citcumstances, there are twins born, who are basically these two, in character and all. Could they share the post of the mane, making up for each others weaknesses?
    2) This just randomly occured to me, but how exactly is the influence of the moons measured? Is it like with earths Zodiac, from this to this date, it's this moonphase, from this to this, it's that, and so on? What, if a Khajiit is born exactly at the change between phases? Would they become either or (likely whatever the new phase is), or would they be a bit of a hybrid?

    The new chapter for ESO, GOld Road is coming out tomorrow, so this is quite the good video to come out before I head to bed.

    I wish we had more information on the Manes in the 4th era. Like, having a Mane leading a guerilla war against the Thalmor would be cool

  • @Matakshaman

    Do we have any info on the Mane system in the fourth era? Would be very interesting to know since Elsweyr has fractured and united many times after the events of ESO

      The better question is what effect the Void Nights did on the selection of the Mane. When the two moon vanished, they couldn't align, so a new Mane couldn't be born at the time.

      Not as far as I know but either but I can see the rol got abolished or it’s power severely diminished by the thalmor.

    I always thought the "canon" pick was Khali due to a very small detail, at the beginning of the quest Shazah uses a staff while Khali uses swords but if you let Shazah live she starts using swords over magic.

    A correction. There indeed can, and even more than that, must be many Manes. Ri'dattha was a false prophet whose teachings were essentially a powergrab that corrupted the catfolk's faith. To understand this is to understand how it all works: the 'Sugar God' is a lie.

      I believe I said in the video he was the first mane of united elsweyr. In my mane video I said that before him each tribe basically had their own most of the time. But it wasnt super relevant to this video specifically

    • @andreyradchenko8200
      @andreyradchenko8200 4 месяца назад

      @@ImperialKnowledge It's quite relevant because the whole title/social institution of lunar champions and their trials is, basically, an empty fabrication - manes are born, not made. That is why the one you leave behind can keep the dark mane locked up. They both had the powers all along. It's deep lore stuff, but imo it is important to highlight this specific fact.

    • @ImperialKnowledge
      @ImperialKnowledge  4 месяца назад

      @@andreyradchenko8200 That is quite an interesting perspective. Considering a mane is just a (rare) furstock that essentially does indeed make their role as spiritual leaders a social construct. Considering their powers its logical that they got important positions in their tribes before the unification of the tribes/kingdoms. Then whether or not the first unified mane was a false prophet or not kind of depends on perspective I suppose, as his teachings did end up coming true in a way. Although then the question is whether or not he made his theology for personal gain (which admittedly is possible as he came out as the one true mane) or whether that was where the ship was heading eitherway and he forsaw it and thus started a new theology based on that. But I have to admit that the idea of Ridattha being a false prophet is pretty interesting, I like it, gives some depth to the lore which some of the new stuff misses sometimes.

      @@ImperialKnowledge What sealed the deal for me is that his new god never manifested itself or interacted with mortals the way et'ada do. This is a trait that we never see in the setting, because even the supposedly inactive Lorkhan still acts in a limited capacity.
