The funniest thing is that he called him out as a killer before he even knew it was Anakin. 🤣 I honestly wonder if he is a bit psychic, sometimes. I can't recall specific instances, but I know in past videos he's made spot on calls based on completely random things that most people wouldn't think twice about, like having a bowl cut.

I think Qi Gon is interesting because he is the closest thing we get to a gray or neutral Jedi in the movies. He is a Jedi but does not see eye to eye with the council and mostly seems to follow his own moral code

    • @samwallaceart288
      @samwallaceart288 Год назад +23

A more accurate viewpoint is that the council became dogmatic and dependent on custom and bureaucracy. Qui-Gon was reckless, but also attentive to the reality of a situation; not stubbornly holding out for "how things ought to go" but putting himself out in the middle to deal with things _as they are, in the here and now._
He isn't grey, he's _balanced_ and in tune with what the Force is actually doing, responding on his feet and not waiting for abstract theory.
If the Sith are too emotional and manipulative, the Council are too intellectual and dismissive. Low-key, Qui-Gon is the only one _actually doing Jedi work_ and the Council's disapproval of him is exactly why the Council fails in the end. There's a reason Qui-Gon figured out spiritual projection first when neither the Sith nor the Council had ever dreamed of it.

Obi-Wan was for sure angry when Qui-Gon was killed by Maul. He fought more aggressively and tried to take it to Maul. This is why Maul was able to force-push him and almost knock him down that shaft, because Obi-wan lost his focus. Obi-Wan then re-centered himself which is why he was able to surprise and defeat Maul even though he looked beaten. Since it was Qui-Gon's dying wish for Obi-Wan to train Anakin and Obi-Wan promised him he would, he would have done it with or without the council's blessing. Plus the council now had evidence that the Sith had returned after like 1000 years. With all that in mind, even though Yoda did not agree with it, the jedi Council voted in favor of allowing Obi-Wan to train Anakin. Many probably feeling like he was the Jedi who would bring balance to the force like in the Prophecy.

At the end of Return of the Jedi (part 6) where Vader saved Luke and killed the Empoere, that was Anakin fulfilling the prophecy as the chosen one to brings balance to the force. 2. Phantom Menace is probably the best of the sequel trilogy. The big gripe people have with this movie seems to be Jar Jar. Jar Jar was put there for the comic relief that was provided by R2D2 and C3PO in the original trilogy. Jar Jar just seems kind of forced which is why it doesn't work. This movie was definitely the biggest and most hyped of the prequel trilogy.

@@spencergrady4575 The two things I agree with in trekkiejunk's list are Jar Jar and midichlorians. Jar Jar is way too in your face in his role as comedic relief and midichlorians feels way out of Star Wars. Star Trek is the sort of science fiction where you expect techno-babble explanations for how things work, but Star Wars is a space fantasy, not a scifi. You never hear technical explanations on how blasters or hyperdrives or lightsabers work because a fantasy gives you story-elements as concepts, not explanations. When suddenly you're receiving a technical explanation on how the magic system of the fantasy works, it breaks immersion.
In the end, the midichlorian bit was so short that I can easily over-look it. They just needed a way to show how the Jedi measure someone's Force power, to make the point that the kid has more power in him than master Yoda does, so I'll shrug it off.

Two reasons Anakin left C3PO behind - 1. It was so that the droid can help his mom around the house. 2. Anakin felt that it was the closest emotional attachment his mom could have to her son. It was kinda glossed over in the movie.

"Why didn't you catch it with the force?" Someone like Luke might have been able to. But Obi-Wan is actually fairly weak in terms of force sensitivity. But, he it skilled at utilising his "little access" to force. There's a chance that is why some of his mind tricks don't work as well.

It was a lightsaber, and Obi-Wan moments later drew Qui-Gon's towards him while simultaneously launching himself up and over with zero momentum all using the Force lol. Not saying Obi-Wan is a powerhouse, but were he not dangling for his life he'd have easily caught it.

This movie did something that I wish they had done more of, and that's to use a real martial artist as a Jedi or Sith. Ray Park dominated the role of Darth Maul. He was my favorite part of the whole movie. It also made me laugh years later as George Lucas lived up to his reputation of having to muck with an established product. The original Yoda in this movie was also a puppet. Granted, it really didn't look the best as even the original Yoda in V and VI looked better, but once again, George had it changed to CGI. I think this movie gets more hate than it deserves. I actually like the prequels and I did back then they were originally released too. I saw them all in the theater. A lot of the effects still hold up which doesn't happen for a lot of pre 2000 CGI. I do appreciate the amount of practical creature effects and puppets that were used. It was a good move to use droids so the Jedi had something to cut up with their lightsabers. Cheers.

Yes, you didn't notice the first time he called him Obi-Wan. At the very beginning, in the first scene of the film. . .
Obi-Wan Kenobi: I have a bad feeling about this.
    Qui-Gon Jinn: I don't sense anything.
Obi-Wan: It's not about the mission, Master. It's something... elsewhere. Elusive.
Qui-Gon: Don't center on your anxieties, Obi-Wan. Keep your concentration here and now, where it belongs.
Obi-Wan: But Master Yoda said I should be mindful of the future.
Qui-Gon: But not at the expense of the moment. Be mindful of the living Force, young Padawan.
Obi-Wan: Yes, Master. How do you think this Trade Viceroy will deal with the Chancellor's demands?
Qui-Gon: These Federation types are cowards. The negotiations will be short.
When in makeup, their own mothers couldn't tell Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley apart.
You mean Wakanda got those from _them._

The thing is, everything the Prequels did wrong, the Disney sequels fixed (at least, at first). Unfortunately, everything that the Prequels did right, Disney got wrong. It's kinda like there's 10 things you need to do for a successful film, and the Prequels only did the first 5, and the Sequels only did the last 5.

man I forgot how much I love this episode. I know it can be clunky but it's so cute! and now that i'm 24 years older than when it first came out, I can say George Lucas wrote a sweet young kid turning into an fallen evil man perfectly. Anakin's understandable childhood trauma was exacerbated by an Order unable to meet his emotional needs as a former slave + a young kid separated from his mom, as well having someone groom him for years to use him is exactly how someone so sweet ends up destroying his life and so many others.
Plus yeah the world building is amazing. I was in a Star Wars fan club for several years, and we used to talk so much about how the Jedi Order was so stuck in their ways, as well as the decadence of the Republic itself, and how Anakin really did bring balance back, even though it was in a very unexpected way. LOVE THE PREQUELS, the world building, the costumes, even Jar-Jar!
Some SW friends and I even once attended to a museum display of the costumes of the prequels; Padme Amidala's wardrobe is even MORE impressive in person, believe it or not.

Very good catch about all fight between Qui Gon, Obi Wan and Maul
The end of the fight between Qui Gon, Obi Wan and Darth Maul shows the difference between Sith and Jedi very well. When the laser partitions separated Qui Gon and Maul from each other, the Jedi began to meditate, calming down, and the Sith, on the contrary, walked in a rage like a tiger in a cage, filling himself with emotions. And when Obi Wan attacked Maul after the death of his master, you can see that he was filled with rage, which took him out of balance, since this is not the way of the Jedi and he does not know how to handle it, and Darth Maul, being a Sith who has been raised inside the order since childhood, who on the contrary feeds himself with emotions, easily he was defeated and thrown into the mine, and only when Obi Wan was able to calm down and return to balance, he was able to defeat Maul
