The landscape during the bus ride reminds me so much of Gansu province in NW China - the mountain/desert outlook, the way the villages sit, and even right down to the forts on top of the peaks which China has too. That area of China is my favourite in the country, and the more I see of countries like Oman and Jordan in your clips the more I'm getting sold on them too. Great to be along for the ride with you.

Try asking Omanis for authentic omani restaurants. I know there are few in Nizwa. Due to our historic trade relations with India, you'll notice a bit of influence in our cuisines, such as biryani for example. Remember to try the Omani Shuwa my friend :-)

Having just returned from Oman you really need to hire a car to see the best of it. Extremely difficult otherwise. Amazingly scenic country.

hi gabriel i'm living in oman and quite familiar of nizwa..if you really want to taste an authentic omani food, you can try bin ateeq restaurant and taste their shuwa (basically the national dish of oman).. it is only located in nizwa souq.. you can ask any locals and for sure they will help you..

Great video if you like to try some real authentic Arabic cuisine make your way to Lebanon and Jordan. the reason why you can't find Arabic restaurants in the gulf because the locals don't really work in stores and restaurants that's why there is a large Indian community in the food business

Funny that foreigners say they can't speak English but still manage to speak some but if an American can say a few phrases in another language we think we are fluent in that language. The food and smoothie looked good. Anywayz, another nice video seeing foreign places I'll never see otherwise.

Arabs traditionally eat at home, so we rarely see Arabic Restaurant. It's hard to find Arabic Restaurant in Dubai too. Since middle east is full of Indian workers and mostly they live without family, so they eat out, that is why you fsee Indian/Pakistani restaurant everywhere.

Hard to say, just depends on how much time you have and how much of the country you want to see. There's a lot more to see than where I went in my two weeks there, which was Sohar, Muscat and Nizwa. You could spend weeks or longer there if you wanted to get further into the desert, see Salalah and other places. But if you have limited time then make it a week and go to Muscat and Nizwa. There's a lot of interesting stuff to see around Nizwa.

I recommend to not spend lots of times in muscat because it's really expensive city . Try to explore other part of oman and try to avoid muscat as much as possible..

Gabriel, you didn't give any price. How much was both taxi rides? And the food? Thanks.

I don't mention the prices in every video because I think it would get annoying and get in the way to always talk about the prices. So that's why I didn't mention them. But I think the first taxi ride was two rials (about $5), the second one into Nizwa was just .5 rials because it was a shared taxi, and then the one back was 2.5 rials because it wasn't shared. Now I forget how much dinner was but maybe four rials ($10) for the food and the smoothie.

Gabriel Traveler Oh ok. I think that showing the prices could be a excelent idea for this kind of non-usual travel destinations. They could be very useful. Its your channel tho. Cheers from Argentina.

I make separate videos showing the prices in each country I visit, see this playlist:

Cheers and hola, whenever I go back to South America I want to explore Argentina.

Gabriel Traveler Well, i know and i've seen them, but i think it's a nice idea to complement them with each video. I hope you come here soon, its quite expensive compared to India tho, but completely worth.
