    It's a must to visit Plovdiv, it's going to be the cultural capital of Europe next year. Also, if you ever plan on going hiking, the Bulgarian wilderness, mountain monasteries, the Seven Rila Lakes are a must see.

      Karin B Bulgaria is amazing for holidays, especially in the summer but try to live here with a salary of 400$, the politics ruined our beatiful country, we have amazing nature but its really sad everyone is emigrating from our lovely country its sad....

    • @healthyandanextraincome4746
      @healthyandanextraincome4746 5 лет назад

      It is the ugliest country I have visited in my entire life. I am not speaking of nature, because, that is the same. Then you have to compare nature to nature. Espec. the ugliest capital, I have seen - I was so shocked the first time, it feels like a poor African country or something. African places and cities can be really modern.
      It does not say a country as a whole is bad, I love it, it is a beautiful escape. But it says alot about the kind of education, and the upperclass and people who are working. The majority of people in the world are......................
      I only have a few people from a few country , that I respect. Ever heard of the word capitalism ? neoliberal capitalism ? scientists ? researchers ? doctors? computerscience ? biochemists ? whoever follow this list ?

    The road heads east towards the Yantra and narrows as it rises on a hill. Eventually you either have to turn off down to a road that follows the river or you walk pretty much straight into the entrance of Tsarevets. It's the Medieval Capital of Old Bulgaria.

    LOL at 1:46 you see the Grafitti "Texas". Texas is spray painted all over Sofia. I asked my friend about it he didn't know why. In 2016 when I was there Texas was all over, less so in 2017 and 2018. Also prices like stated drop even more once you are off the beaten path. I've had some of the best meals I've had in Targovishte for dirt cheap. Most restaurants have huge menu options to choose from, but that is changing.

    • @jeffw5872
      @jeffw5872 6 лет назад +1

      I'd have to agree with everything else. It's a pretty awesome place to visit but it was not really the headquarters. It was a cultural monument and as far as I know people were just gathering there on different occasions. The headquarters (parliament) has been in Sofia for a while. Can you imagine the rulers of the country managing it from a remote UFO looking monument in the middle of the Balkan mountain, away from everything. Here's a screenshot from a recording to get an idea of how it looked like when people were going for some national celebrations img.bg.sof.cmestatic.com/media/images/940x529/Apr2012/1648906403.jpg

    I believe Veliko-Tarnovo is the Bulgarian town where the most famous Bulgarian fine artist "hails from". His is a true story of "rags to riches" from his humble beginnings. He painted without "three- dimensionality" and with almost "stick figures" as he was not classically schooled in drawing/painting. He painted on glass as canvas was too expensive and not available. He went to France and sold all of his paintings and became famous and wealthy. I don't recall his name but perhaps, you saw some of his work in Veliko-Tarnovo.

    Drive through the Magistrala during July and August and see the fields or wheat and sunflower. Just Kilometers and Kilometers of Yellow Disks on stalks facing the sun. Or go to the southern Black Sea in August to swim in still, and brackish water. No salty sting in your eyes. But below Tsarevo southward to the small coves and beaches. Or hike any number of trails. Stara Planina, the old mountain dividing the country has traiils and lakes and streams and NOBODY for hours. Just go and remember why you left the crowded and expensive western cities.

    Both Sofia and this new town Veliko look very interesting and attractive but at the same time a little dismal - which isn't always a bad thing. . The countryside was nice but looked lonely and very faraway. I think Bulgaria would be gorgeous in the spring.

    • @jeffw5872
      @jeffw5872 6 лет назад +1

      It is gorgeous in the spring indeed. I think Gabriel needs to research a bit more and he'll find a lot of hidden gems. I'd recommend both you and him to just google "Evgeni Dinev" or find his fan page on facebook. He's been all over the country and his personal blog and facebook page have turned into small encyclopedias of beautiful spots around the country. Veliko Tarnovo is actually one of the most beautiful towns in the country and a former capital of Bulgaria from almost a thousand years ago. However Gabriel hasn't really shown its most beautiful parts yet. I'd agree with you that the most of the cities and towns can look gloomy on a dark and rainy winter day but from the few videos I've seen of Gabriel, he didn't seem to interact with the locals in his videos beyond asking for directions.

      Ok, my friend, but what I mean is that especially Bulgaria is very beautiful in summers. You should take some day a vacation and go to Bulgaria during summer. Bulgarian winters are usually slushy and grey. There is not enough "white powder" like in northern Europe..... Though, there are snowy Mountains for skiing. BANSKO is quite famous.

    Hi I love your videos!!! You were using your phone to find the hotel in this video. What kind of app where you using? Are you using the same app in every country you visit? Thanks!
