It's a must to visit Plovdiv, it's going to be the cultural capital of Europe next year. Also, if you ever plan on going hiking, the Bulgarian wilderness, mountain monasteries, the Seven Rila Lakes are a must see.

Go to Transylvania. The Carpathian Mountains are Beautiful. Try Brasov, Sibiu or Sighisoara. Romania is definitely a hidden gem. Travel is inexpensive, scenery is awesome and the people are fantastic. I'll be heading back there in a few months.
Veliko Tarnovo is a really cool town, dont forget to check out Shumen if you are heading towards Varna the old capital area of Bulgaria you have some interesting sights there
In Wintertime one should go Skiing in the Rhodope Mountains. Veliko Tarnovo Region is for June & harvest of Roses .... Its always the same: the chinese tourists also never know where they actually are... You only see what you know 👍
What a creative salad of beets, carrots and apple with an olive...unique! The entree' you showed us was fabulous looking with garbanzo beans, green vegetables and chicken, I believe. Very nice with a big glass of Bulgarian beer...
The road heads east towards the Yantra and narrows as it rises on a hill. Eventually you either have to turn off down to a road that follows the river or you walk pretty much straight into the entrance of Tsarevets. It's the Medieval Capital of Old Bulgaria.
Transylvania next would be awesome! Romania's right next to Bulgaria. Went there last summer, vampire stuff is sort of a tourist trap but the nature, medieval towns & castles are really something.
LOL at 1:46 you see the Grafitti "Texas". Texas is spray painted all over Sofia. I asked my friend about it he didn't know why. In 2016 when I was there Texas was all over, less so in 2017 and 2018. Also prices like stated drop even more once you are off the beaten path. I've had some of the best meals I've had in Targovishte for dirt cheap. Most restaurants have huge menu options to choose from, but that is changing.
I am Bulgarian. Veliko means georgious, that is georgious tarnovo, ancient Bulgarian city. You must eat kebabcheta(minced meat grilled), tsatsa(small crispy blacksea fish) with beer. 🍻
Thanks. Speaking of which, was the music a little too loud compared to the rest of the video? Did you have to turn the volume down when the song was playing? Trying to get the audio levels right, but it's a bit tough because the speakers stopped working on my laptop so I have to edit the video using earphones.
Sure. I liked it the way it was. For me it was not exaggerative loud. I'm in a wooden house and i do not have neighbors nearby.... On laptop 100% volume is okay. On other video channels you may find disturbing loud but this was not the case.
I Love it!! We've been traveling the world for 9 months and I can't remember where I am at sometimes. I was so confused when to started traveling through Croatia especially. People would ask where are we coming from....I would pause....umm. So embarrassing for me. I don't think I'm getting dementia or alzimers yet...not even 50 yet. 👍
If you get time check out Mount Buzludzha! It's not too far from veliko. It's the old commintist headquarters. It's amazing to see. Lovely Hill top views too.
I'd have to agree with everything else. It's a pretty awesome place to visit but it was not really the headquarters. It was a cultural monument and as far as I know people were just gathering there on different occasions. The headquarters (parliament) has been in Sofia for a while. Can you imagine the rulers of the country managing it from a remote UFO looking monument in the middle of the Balkan mountain, away from everything. Here's a screenshot from a recording to get an idea of how it looked like when people were going for some national celebrations img.bg.sof.cmestatic.com/media/images/940x529/Apr2012/1648906403.jpg
I believe Veliko-Tarnovo is the Bulgarian town where the most famous Bulgarian fine artist "hails from". His is a true story of "rags to riches" from his humble beginnings. He painted without "three- dimensionality" and with almost "stick figures" as he was not classically schooled in drawing/painting. He painted on glass as canvas was too expensive and not available. He went to France and sold all of his paintings and became famous and wealthy. I don't recall his name but perhaps, you saw some of his work in Veliko-Tarnovo.
Drive through the Magistrala during July and August and see the fields or wheat and sunflower. Just Kilometers and Kilometers of Yellow Disks on stalks facing the sun. Or go to the southern Black Sea in August to swim in still, and brackish water. No salty sting in your eyes. But below Tsarevo southward to the small coves and beaches. Or hike any number of trails. Stara Planina, the old mountain dividing the country has traiils and lakes and streams and NOBODY for hours. Just go and remember why you left the crowded and expensive western cities.
14:10 She said Veliko T-a-rnovo (accent on the a, i.e. ъ in Bulgarian), but you still manage to repeat it like Veliko Tarn-o-vo (stress on the o). Good job. (Btw it's S-O-fia, and not Sof-I-a).
I was just wondering if you'd consider doing a Vlad Romania trip - somehow this town reminded me of that story. So interesting that a few minutes later you commented on that trip.
You should learn the Cyrillic alphabet. It might look difficult to some but it is actually really easy to learn. You can download a free app on your phone and learn it in a few days :) I did that before my trip to the Balkans and it was useful (I was really proud to be able to read everything).
And try to use the ATM on the inside of the Bank first door, or inside a major store like Kaufland or Lidl...less likely to be rigged with an overlay card reader. Don't count your money in Public. And I like to have zippered pockets, especially on buses and trains or any crowded place.
"Veliko" translates to "Great" in Bulgarian. Veliko Tarnovo means Great Tarnovo and it's similar to Great Britain, although they have nothing in common. :)

Btw BLUE is your color 👍🏼 Salad looked pretty, didn’t look that tasty though?
