Thanks Guys, you rock!!! - Хобби
Thank you for the great video. I am planning on putting in a pocket door to my master bathroom. I loved the way you cut the sheetrock. I am hoping to salvage my sheetrock so I don't have to buy some.
@Alexander Armani Yea, have been watching on flixzone for months myself :D
Someday videos will be made without insane downbeats driving a rhythm thru the brain
Bob's your uncle! Well done, very clear mate.
Thank you, finally someone explaining it right, 5 videos before I found the right one, thx
Your mate appears to be a master of precision.
You’re a great builder love your videos.
Third year electrician apprentice here. I’ll be doing my carpentry next which what I wanted to do first.
Really well done - a fantastic video with great camera work showing the details. It can't be understated how hard it is to actually do a job like this and try to capture it all on camera at the same time. Pro all round.
Best video I’ve seen showing how to install a pocket door into an existing wall. Will be having this done when we remodel the bathroom. Any suggestions on a door for the bathroom closet in a small space ? Would like something maybe that doesn’t have a doorknob. Maybe a door that closes with a magnet ?
Best pocket door video I've watched, thanks! Love Doc McStuffins at 4:20 as well.
Great detailed video - we’d been told it could only be done while the house was being built and therefore too late for us. We need a door between the dining room and kitchen for more than one reason and because I’d given up on the pocket door my search criteria was for butler door installation. Don’t know how this turned up but I’m sure glad it did. Thank you for sharing!
Sweet job my Aussie friend
I'm doing one next week.......and this just helped a ton
you're videos are super informative James. Thanks heaps.
Incredibly educational, well lit, clear voice. Mainly good tips and a great selling video. Doors that swing into a room are in some cases an obstacle....
Thanks Lee
I will describe your Channel you did a complicated job efficiently plain and simple..thank you
Your welcome, thanks for watching!
This is by far the best pocket door video i have seen online Thx sir.
Your welcome 👍
That was pretty thorough, thanks!
Great install vid. I needed this a month ago haha. great tip on leaving the style loose ubtil the end!
+Ben Burgs Thanks Benny, I forgot to periscope it the next day for you...
Perfect video. Great information.
Excellent explanation of the process. I especially appreciate the detail tips. Thanks!
Thanks Josh, glad it helped 👍
Well done, thanks for the video.
Neat job & not as easy as you made it look. If the door had to be just there, a couple of things to note ...
1. Cutting out the diagonal metal brace makes the wall weaker.
2. Lintels need support from underneath so the jamb studs should be checked in to the lintel.
3. Platerboard direct onto brickwork @ 4.47 creates a concealed termite access, so you would need additional termite control.
Good information, thanks!
Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for.
Your welcome
Very helpful, thank you!
Excellent video Mate. Best I've see on youtube.
Thanks mate 👍
Hope you guys finish before bowling . Nice shirts.
Anyone in the USA notice the adhesive (blue green dots on the backside of thdrywall.)
Excellent tutorial. Thanks mate.
+Andrew Pakenham Cheers mate, thanks for watching 👍
Fantastic job thanks
Very nice for you to share. Great job!
Awsome job.
Great video. Many thanks.
Great video. Question regarding the sliding door. When the door is fully closed, how much of the door remains in the cavity? Do you know if there is minimum (or acceptable range) - for example 10, 15 or 20mm? Thanks
Great video mate
Best yet. Thanks
Thank you my friend for your technical copartilhar us.
+Edson Júlio Silva Nobre Nobre , Anytime mate, thanks for watching!
Take care my friend.
I was hoping to see it finished off. How did you cover the other side, just use a bigger architrave? Also, if you are going from carpet to floating floors, is it better to do the floors first or the cavity slider first?
Can you use any kind of door you want with the kit? Like could I use a 6 panel door in there?
Good job
One of benefits of paper thin walls, can install neat things much faster
very good job mate! couldn't of done it better myself. lol. cheers mate.
+Zach Miller , Haha, thanks mate!
Many thanks
I'm planning a pocket door for my house too. Other than the obvious reason, that the pocket door does not take additional space on the wall when opened, what would be some pros and cons of a cavity vs a wall mounted sliding door. By the way, great video!
Thanks for video
Thanks heaps mate!
Thanks. Exactly what I needed :)
Great Jamie, good luck with it 👍
Excellent.
Wouldnt you have to rebrace the wall if u took the brace off?
Thank you very much.
It would be great to see how you finished it. That is the hard part, for me..
Finished in regards to plastering, or the architraves and skirting?
Great educational video… but there was bracing in that wall… was that bracing replaced somewhere else on that wall?
So helpful thank you!
Your welcome 👍
Good craft and perfect door. How can I get it or buy?
Nice one for that very informative and well put together video. I've got to do this for a firm I work for tomorrow. I've never installed one which can be quite daunting. I always worry that might look a rubbish chippy if I don't get it done by the end of play. This is gonna make me sleep easier 😀
Thanks Steve, Hope the install went well.
@@OurBuild it did go well thanks mate although the job was different to what I anticipated.
Maybe I'm missing something but what is stopping the door swinging like a pendulum inside the frame and scraping the door finish? I don't see any guides or rails at the bottom. Does it have something in the frame like a rubber wheel either side or something to keep it centred? Been thinking of fitting one to my bathroom but I don't want to have to refinish the door regularly.
nice job
Aw, the little girl is adorable :)
Great video. thanks
Your welcome 👍
GREAT JOB!!
cheers mate!
good jobs
What is your framing? 70x35?
Ate the 90's, 90x35?
You mentioned this was leading to a garage, would this be to code due to fact that car exhaust could leak into the house?
Hey mate, Garage was converted into an new bedroom.
Thanks for watching!
Can you please provide the link where I can buy the rail kit?
You forgot the 2 guides and rubber stopper.???
great video but what about replacing the angle brace you had to cut out?
+smashedcrab74 Check out the comments below mate, mentioned it there.
hello your video was great but how do you install the handle and the lock if you can please make a video that would be great thank you
Thanks Cameron, I will bust out the camera next time I fit one and let you know, take care mate.
What nail bag is that you work with? Great content
Irwin nail bag I believe
Can you tell me if anyone has ever done a pocket door that goes into the ceiling, slides up and down instead of sideways? I'm adding a bathroom to my master bedroom and building the wall with 2×2 footer and 2×4 studs facing wide side out to make a skinny wall and take up less room. I have plenty of room in the attic above to do, just wondered if that was a new concept or not
I wanna do a bunch of these doors in my house as most are only 24 inches wide and it’s a small home so an open door makes the space feel that much more cramped. I’m just afraid of opening up a wall and getting in over my head
would you please write down the measurements I have to take care of?
Muneef Alahdi depends on your door.
What type of measuring tape is that ? I’m from the US , California and I’ve never seen something like that 😅 really cool I would like to buy one . Throw my friends off 😂
👌
Hey mate do u screw the top of the cavity frame into stuf also? Awesome vid mate
Lol i meant stud
+yeeha 123 That's ok mate i know what you meant :) No its nessesary as most of the heads are designed to have a track that will take the weight of a door. Generally speaking you should avoid fixing through any heads of door frames or windows because they can sag under a roof load and deflect windows and doors. That is also why a 10-15mm gap should always be left at the top of a door frame or window in case a door or window heads sags or deflects under a load.
Hope that helps, and thanks for watching.
+Our Build ahh yeah it all makes sense now. im putting in this door this week so ur vid helped alot mate cheers!
+yeeha 123 Glad to help, if u get stuck on anything feel free to fire me an email.
+Our Build thanks mate appreciate it
If you cut the entire of the drywalls, you can remove the studs much easier than cutting them.
I've never heard someone use millimetres for a project this size. In Canada we use inches, or sometimes cm. How interesting.
Tomato
He should watch stud pack
Great video but we didn't see the hard part the studs getting removed without damaging the plaster to much and what I am guessing the really hard part the bottom plate being removed
My Method: use one of those Multi Function tools:
1) Use the Multi Function to cut the nails holding the noggins to the studs, then roll/peel the noggins away from the wall.
2) Same tool but with the with the FLUSH Cutting blades. Fit the blade to the Multi Function tool at Right angles and use this to cut through the studs at a point say 150 mm in from each end.
3) Next peel/roll the studs away from the gyproc. this seems to do the least damage as mostly the paper comes away with the stud where the glue is and nothing more. If there are clouts then they pull through the gyproc and seem not to bother the surface on the other side of the gyproc.
4) Use the same Multi Function to cut the base plate into pieces and lever them up with chisel and patience.
I used the above method to disassemble a wall on one side (the dirty area) leaving the entire wall in place and leaving the bedroom on the other side dust and noise free till I was ready to break through and finish the job.
I employed patience and measure twice cut once.
çheers
Thanks David good Explanation of the fiddly bits and thanks for responding :)
Mate you are a legend I watched your video and it really helped me out a lot and followed your video step by step. Thank you so much for this video mate. 👍
very cool. but wouldn't a sliding barn door, in this instance, have been just as functional with much less work?
+no further west Totally different look, but would require just as much work.
Where do you order that pocket door at ? ....
Bunnings stock them as do most timber suppliers.
Can it lock with keys or soneyhink
Yep
How come the new timber framing is blue?
David Hollman blue frame = termite proof
Andrew Pakenham cool thanks for the info. I don't think we have the same product here in the US!
David Hollman termites are a big problem here in parts of Australia.
Minor concern, mate: that tubesteel corner brace you cut out at the beginning... isn't that cyclone protection? What did you do to put some lateral strength back in, once the pocket door was hung? Could you have gone with a header for that reason even though the wall was not load bearing? As a side note, I see some comments hung up on the english side of things - they should try talking to a Scotsman, and get a little perspective.
+Flinch Thanks for the comment material. As for the bracing always check with a structural engineer. Ours was ok due to bracing further along the wall and also in the roof. Haha I can talk a little fast sometimes 😂
Nae fibs bin told they
I didn't catch what the shim material is called...
Plastic packers, i think they are linked to in the comments below the video.
it's pIECe of cake....:-)
Just make sure you seal up for air tightness inside these cavities. Spiders love coming in from the roof from these types of doors and they aren’t great for trying to condition a space.

Great video.
SAY WHAT?????? I want to try this project/ where can I purchase that METRIC tape..... thank goodness could listen on captions. LOL
You in an echo chamber!!!
Check your spelling with the cake.😁
Well.. you not pulling down a load baring wall, but a bracing wall which is also a structural reinforcing wall that gives stiffness to your house, if you see the diagonal steel brace you've cut out... Bad example, and can be misleading..
Feel better about yourself Jack? Empowered? You told him!
Idiot.
Ok now do a brick wall
I know that woodprix has the best woodworking plans ever.
I'm only here for the accent.
installing a interior sliding door would seem as easy as spelling piece correctly in the thumbnail.
😂😂🤣🤣
Horrible audio
I'm English and did not understand a word he said in the first 26 seconds. A Tip: slow down and pronounce your words.
English is actually Hebrew and the alphabet is on your hands. Truth is always in plain sight for those with eyes to see!
Your audio is horrible! Sounds like you're talking from the bottom of a barrel.
Thanks for the feedback
very bad audio, cannot understand half of the words, very little detail on all steps. this is a good example on how NOT to make a youtube video.
Your welcome.
I have no idea what video you're watching, but it isn't this one. Either that or your speakers just blew out. The audio is fine.
The video was fine johne but "Your welcome" should be 'You're welcome'.
I understood everything. It's just a tiny bit echoing because it's a garage, no buffers.
What are you talking about, JT? For on site/real time, it's clear as a bell and obviously some planning went into the video as the sequence worked and had pretty good flow.
