Mercy Jaysus. 300 km/h in less time than it takes to type it. The new generation of cars is unquestionably safer (RIP Stefan and Manfred) but they've also somehow lost the visceral man-and-machine connection of the racers up through the early 90s. Absolutely love this reminder of how brutally brilliant the 956 still is.
300 km/h on those straights, faster than any current LMP1 car, what an insane vintage monster! Racing isn't what it used to be, this was real, raw and just epic.
Uhh hate to break it to ya but LMP1s were breaking 320-330kph into the chicanes at Le Mans. Would of probably been closer to 350kph if they weren't so heavily fuel restricted and worried about energy recovery.
Back when the "Hunaudières straight" (not Mulsanne... as it is the corner at the end) was without those chicanes, cars were reaching 400+ km/h... and it's been decided it was too much; just for your knowledge.
@@mattyg267 yeah from from all I read about them the 956 and the 962 rarely crashed. Well there was Stefan Bellof death and a couple of crashes but they weren't common.
Plenty of mid corner understeer. Great vision though. What an event, having that many Group C cars in one event. Spices, a Gebhardt, a Toyota, an Alba Giannini too!... WOW!
I wonder how fast their laptimes would be, if they were raced on a serious level. I mean compared to modern race cars like GT3, GT1, LMP etc. Anyone knows how this would turn out?
Jusy googel the old Laptimes of those Cars, and you will see. Back in the Days LeMans had no Chicanes, and they drove 400Kmh on the Strait. And even do today are 2 Chicanes on the Strait, and the Cars only drive 330Kmh on the Strait, the LMP1 Cars today drive faster Laptimes. I think on the Nordschleife those old Cars speed can be compared with modern GT3 Cars.

@@ryang1591 Yeah, i guess you are right, but no LMP1 will reach over 350, too many stupid limitations.
@@snchez2106the privateer SMP LMP1 cars reached that speed before and rebellion were close

I was a fan of this car as a kid, it’s nice to see it driven in anger again!
the turbo spool is music on my ears no joke
I'd sell my soul for a ride in a 956. The legend!
yes you can do that
@@kittidet1983 😁
Better hope they don't crash.. the 956 has zero front strength atall for the cockpit

Just wonderful , thanks for Group C1/C2

Dream stuff brother 👌🏼👌🏼 and nice driving ✊🏼
These cars are so beautiful!
Electrical issue is unfortunate but glad you're safe to race another day.
Really nice recording. Thank you. Are they not allowed to race in LeMans Classic BTW?
Epic!
In the old Le Mans without chicanes we reach 3507360 km/h with the 956¡¡¡
"Title text here" 🤣
👍😎 great … do you see how easy 287 look like (17:20) 😎😎💪😎

When you think you're going fast.......and the Jag tear's ass past you.
JUST AMAZING! I';ve never had the privilege of selling one! RaceCarLocators
Great fun until the gremlins kicked. Do you have any footage of your RSR from the weekend. My son, Barnaby was part of your crew.
absolutely i do have, footage will come today or by tomorrow and barnaby did an outstanding job!
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe ....
omg omg the 956! Must...wipe...up......drool....
Would be so much better without those chicanes on the Mulsanne.
Is this the ex-Vern Schuppan car?
I believe it is, Kenwood....Andretti's 1 year, next Vern Schuppan, Eja Elgh, Alan Jones another year??
Man if they're going to have classic events then they should remove the two chicanes from the Mulsanne straight and let those thoroughbreds run.
Love the sound but not as good as a 917 or Mazda 787b or matra V12 scream
4:15 is that a Toyota in front of you?
1985 TOM's Toyota 85C
