You are by far the most logical and helpful person I have found on RUclips for training a service dog, I recommend your channel to everyone I know that has questions.
Thank you so much, and I'm glad you're finding the videos helpful!
If you haven’t already, I would LOVE a video about safe play!
Who wouldn't like to see that adorable little puppy playing
A video on play would be great! It’s so important, and a lot of people don’t know how to do it and apply it correctly.
This came at the perfect time!! I’m picking up my prospect on Sunday!
I'm glad! and I hoped your puppy pick up went well :)
@@myservicedogandme Thank you! It did go well!
Your videos give me so much hope! Whenever my mother and I are able to get a place of our own is when I can get a prospect. I’ve been researching and taking notes for over a year and a half on this all (overboard probably), but I learn something new every time, and I’m hoping this all will help me execute everything better than being unprepared.
I'm so glad you like the videos. And the more research you do ahead of time the better, so it sounds like you're on the right track :)
thank you
I would love the play video
Hi there! I have a question about part 2 of the puppy raising formula "reward good choices". It makes sense to me, and is what I have been doing with my puppy- laying calmly on her bed, she gets treats. Ignoring the cats- she gets treats. Running up to me during free time outside- she gets treats. However, I am just curious how I should think about this concept/practice in relation to something else from another video, "What to prioritize in your service dog puppy's training". In that video you said it's really important to only work on a couple things at a time, otherwise the training and learning would be too diluted and would make everything go more slowly that just sticking with a couple things at a time. That resonated with my, because I definitely have tendency to jump around from one thing to another, because I am so excited and want to do all the things! So, how would you describe the relationship between those two important pieces of puppy advice? (Reward many of the good things your pup does throughout the day, and yet also pick only a couple things to work on). Do you only focus on capturing a couple things in a day? Or can the casual capturing be for many different behaviors, and just the discreet training sessions be focused on only one or two things?
I absolutely LOVE you videos and would greatly appreciate your input. I plan to join the foundations course when it opens! My pup is just over 10 weeks and I've had her for 1 week.
Hi, I just got my potential prospect, he's a bit older than the puppy I planned for, he's scared of other dogs and immediately responds with growling and biting, I'm not sure what to do but my last dog flunked, and I don't want to have to say goodbye to another dog so soon. If anyone has advice I'd greatly appreciate it.
Where do you suggest the puppy should sleep at night? Does it differ based on if the puppy has just arrived (like the first night/week etc) versus if the puppy has been in your home for an extended period of time?
I let my puppies sleep in my room with me (in a crate) until they're sleeping through the night and comfortable alone, then I move them to my living room (still in a crate), but that's just my personal preference. I go into more detail on this in my free puppy ebook, which you can find inside the classroom for our upcoming free, puppy raising workshop at this link:

I need some help. Do Aussies make good service dogs? I need a medical alert and response as well as psychiatric service dog
I have seen some aussies make good service dogs, but certainly not just any aussie. Here's a blog post I wrote up on choosing a service dog, and we have some videos on the topic too on this youtube channel too :)
