Patrik Pietschmann - On the Other Side of the World (Piano Version)
    Composed by Patrik Pietschmann
Once again, time has passed faster than I would have liked since the last video. Not only was the completion of this original composition with the piano and orchestral version more time-consuming than planned, but an unexpected phone call also came my way: A good friend, with whom I have been friends since my school days, called me to ask if we would like to go to a concert together. I said yes and he mentioned in passing that he was planning to fly to New Zealand spontaneously for a few weeks and be back on the day of the concert. I was immediately overcome by a feeling of wanderlust. I had long wanted to see the breathtaking landscapes, which most people probably know from the Lord of the Rings movies, with my own eyes. And so, on the spur of the moment and a little hastily, I suggested visiting him in New Zealand. A week later, I was already on the 35-hour flight from Frankfurt to Christchurch, a journey to the other side of the world. Now I'm back and I'm happy to say that the trip through the impressive nature and epic landscapes of New Zealand had a huge impact on me.
Not only personally, but also musically I went on a kind of voyage of discovery this time and so in the orchestral version I pursued the goal of bringing different musical worlds together. And so this original composition became a meeting of orchestra, choir, band instruments, synthesizers and vocals. The piano version also has its own special feature, because this time only the white keys are used. At the beginning there was a self-imposed challenge. I wanted to know how far I could get if I restricted myself to the white keys when composing. This is the result. I hope you like it!

I don’t usually leave comments, but somehow I felt that I should. I was sitting here I’ve been super stressed since having my little one, he has had a lot of health complications since he was born, he’s almost a year now. And I found a moment to sit down and this song made all of the tension and anxiety and worry about tomorrow drain from my body. It felt like the song was saying everything will work out. And I felt relaxed for the first time in a year. It was a moment of inner peace. I wanted to say thank you for giving me that. This piece brought me to tears and made the stress disappear. You have a talent that I can’t say I’ve encountered in many before. It feels like the songs put the emotions in you, and I really needed that. Thank you.

Hey man, I started playing the piano at 30, 5 years ago and it was Patrik's music that inspired me too. I started learning from the videos and eventually when I got better at reading notes I started learning from the sheet music. I remember the first one I got was the Star Wars theme. It was just so beautiful, in fact the arrangements are all really beautiful and unique. Piano is just such a lovely hobby to have, and great for sharing with friends and family. I wish you all the best on your piano journey and hope you'll have great success learning the songs you love. This channel is so amazing for inspiration, and I'll always be grateful to have found it. ❤

You truly are a magician, wow. The fact that this is only white keys just blows my mind and how your trip to New Zealand influenced the name and the orchestral version is just awesome. I await the day i will be able to listen to your music in a movie and i hope i don’t have to wait long. Thank you for this beautiful piece

Absolutely amazing a piece all on white keys! This is very hard to create, and have such a great piece at the same time! Beautiful melody, with excellent variations and harmony. I've never visited New Zealand, but I hope to, mainly because of The Lord of The Rings films, your cover of that film was one of the best things I have ever heard on piano. The orchestral version of this piece builds tension very well and shows awe very well, and the use of different instruments is done very well, it creates a nice broad, wide feel! Thank you for your work, it was worth the wait!

Every day I hope to see if Patrik posted, and many days, there is nothing new, but every time he posts, it makes every bit of the wait worth it.

Wow that was so impressive and awsome. Among the best self-composed pieces of yours. And again so wonderful - and how you can get inspiration from almost anything and make it into a fantastic piece. And i just wanna say you are a huge inspiration and like role model or whatever it is called. Listening to your music every day to and from school. So yeah, huge thank you for your music and please don't stop doing what you love!

I've been playing piano for ten years, ever since i was eight, and i got to an intermediate level, and kinda plateaued, but watching your videos have really inspired me to take things to the next level.
