This song ROCKS! And while I can hear the "Brad Fiedel" influence, the song is unique! I can also imagine it in the new "Battlestar Gallactica" where they are all getting the ships ready for a big battle... Great Stuff!
This is amazingly well done, sir. It's reminiscent of the Ink OST, "What Happened to You", and I love it. This is a kind of music we should hear more of in films, as it hits home with that heartbeat feel, and ethereal, visceral sound that delves the audience into the fight with the protagonist. The strings hint that it has a spark of sentience in it, hereby believing that itself is a lifeform and considers itself as a living being. Yes, it was designed for defense, but it also learned quickly. It saw how humanity became a threat to itself for generations of war and destruction. In turn, it believed that if humans destroyed it or shut it down then it would die. Thus, Skynet was capable of self-preservation despite its limitations of being a machine. It had some degree of a soul.
Kurt Tomlinson Music Glad you like it, if i remember correctly i used the damage kontakt library and i also used waves loair subharmonic generator to give the low frequencies a little boost, the drums are also put through a filter at the start as you can hear and it gradually opens up all the higher frequencies of the percussion sounds :)
