I moved to 7D from XTi, which is similar in image quality terms to 40D. I do not care about 18mp photos as I do not need them that large (I store 8-10mp at most), but let me tell you, the ability to crop from 7D shots is phenomenal. It is just something else. With good lenses you do not need any extenders, just crop.

Yes it might not be as good as the 7d or even replacing it but there is that I'm suppossing to be getting. It's called the Canon Rebel t2i.

@cc250honda1 the 1000d is still a very nice camera. you can get the 7d if you want, i personally use it for video, but the stills are amazing. it would also be heavier, it's a 72mm lens not a 58 like the 1000d
not to be a basher, in fact all of you will probably jump on me for this, but didnt the d3 and d300 have all of these features in autofocus (51 point, auto af selelection, single af point, 9, 21, 51 point cluster, and af 3d tracking) two years ago?
7D mk II will release next year
rumor said its more expesive about 500 bucks
but with greater features

@xBananashake45x I would say the EOS 7D if want to save money then the 60D. But i feel the 800 is worth it.. you´ll get more low light sensitivity , better image quality and a hard camera.

@xBananashake45x film professionally or camera, choose one. DSLR is good for HD, but for indie/hollywood you need 2K or 4K and that camera is gonna be 10K
@natureworx Hi natureworx it is possible that you haven't read the instructions...sorry if I sound sarcastic but I find it annoying when people expect to pick up such a high end camera with so much adjustability, complex technology behind it and don't bother to find out how it or taking photos works. Now your problem most likely sounds like the drive mode. Do you know what that is? You will find in your manual that there are three settings: single shot, AI assist. and multi shot check it out.

@xBananashake45x I have the 7D and I love everything about it! Don't get the lens kit, instead buy a lens separately... You won't regret it!

@Smorter ... not its not... the 7d has crosstype sensors ALL with higher precision, and DUAL digic processors, and the 5d sucks at high speed sports, its more of a still/junior/tiny studio photographer.

Did you shoot 1080? I heard you can get 12 minutes on a 4GB card at 720p? Can you please clear up how much video i can get with 4GB and how much i can get with a 16GB card and at what format? Thanks

i am a nooby, and i am not getting why I am not able to take photograph in single click in P,AV,TV,M,B modes.
where as it allows me to do so in auto and CA modes to take picture in single click.
i am not able to figure out what i did wrong.
Please advice.

There is no VDSLR today that has autofocus.
It's quite weird for me that they're using a f/1.2 lens which is known to have sluggish focus

I was really excited about the Canon 7D, but as a photographer I don't want so much technology stuffed in my camera. I want to have fun while photographing, and so I just want an option or two for the focus that work.

Hmm... Ja jeg vil virkelig ha et. Men vet ikke hva jeg skal gå for da. En 27" iMac med en i7 eller et Canon EOS 7D. Jeg har en kraftig spill PC allerede som talker det meste av video programmer og bildeprogrammer og jeg vil oppgradere fra 4GB RAM til 8GB om ikke lenge. Så hav synes du? Jeg tror jeg ville brukt iMac'en mere for editing av spill videoer og annen type editing enn hva jeg vil bruke kameraet til å ta bilder. Må bruker 3,000 kr mer hvis jeg skal ha iMac'en da.

Well, I have just upgraded from a 600D to a 7D as I like bird photography. That video is far too fast and is typical of "experts" saying "it is easy" as they move around the buttons with practised hands. Click, click well, that was easy to follow. Such nonsense. It is NOT easy and you need to slow down and describe which button you are using. I'll look on another website
you can playback the youtube video slower by clicking the setting button on the bottom right corner of the video

it is 4 Gigs before a break
while nikon has 51 points, only 15 have crosstype. so canon actually beats it with the 7d, the 1d mk iii and iv, with high prescision
its really expensive though, just telling ya. A nikon d90 isn't a bad idea.

My Visa card is telling me buy this wth the 15 - 85mm IS and maybe splurge on a 70 - 200mm f2.8 IS..... Damn you Visa Card......
