- We explore a stormwater channel in Qormi valley that is to be roofed over and transformed into a green public space in a €1m project funded by the National Development and Social Funds. I started at the top end near the source of Qirda valley The stormwater channel is part of the national flood relief project completed in 2014, relieving residents of Triq il-Wied from repeated damaging floods.

I am always careful, roads are dangerous
Wonderful video 🇦🇺🥃
Thank you! Cheers!
Qormi - my Mum's birth place. Spent a few months there one year. There is a street named after my Uncle in the Tal-Handaq industrial area, it is called Manwel Borg Gauci.
You really need to get a couple of tee shirts with Englishman in Malta on the back and front Steve. Good advertising.
I have more plans to go back soon a lost in and eating
Hi Steve you allways positive about Malta 🇲🇹 you allways say good things about Malta you are the best thank you for your videos we allways like them👍
Good and bad share it all !!
Thank you Steve, lovely to see the 'real' Malta rather than the touristy areas, eg Valetta/Sliema etc. Haven't visited Malta for 7 years now (and very unlikely to again) but your videos keep the old memories going!
Glad you enjoyed it you like it more video of the real malta coming up
The project of a park will be amazing when finished and will give greenery to the area, always a good thing for the environment. Thank you Steve for the update.
There are a few plans like, great to utilise the space
BLATA means rock. I live in Qormi, that area is called on the rocks in english. Qormi is second most populated in Malta..
Thanks for the info Mary
Hey Steve , enjoyed that walk , nice to see the contrast you handsome devil 😜you’ve either got it or not 😂!💜🤩
You are just saying that !! .....But I must agree 😬
@@EnglishmaninMalta 🤔😂😂
Nice walk I thought you was 35 steve
Ulmost ...must be the light !!
My Mother was born and raised in Qormi (St George) I have never seen this water area though.
I am planning some more walks in that area
Thanks Steve, informative and it’s nice to read the comments from people who used to live in the regions.
Yes Joy i enjoy that alsp
Qormi is close to my heart as my mother's family is from there. As soon as I put iPad on, the notification came on so you can imagine how excited I was. You walked past familiar balconies but I was only 9 years old when I left. No doubt I will rewind this video to try to see better. I'm interested in this place, definitely. I do remember living somewhere before going up to Zebbug. It has changed. San George was the church I attended. Thank you for showing me a childhood memory ☺️ X
I to am from Qormi from the st George church, we lived behind the church , we played in the valley when we were kids “ il Weid “ which was just down the road from where we lived , we left in ,! 61. I was eight when we migrated, but I remember a lot from my childhood, I always go there when we are in Malta 🇦🇺🇲🇹
Hello Rita, nice to know that you are from Qormi too. I think those childhood memories are special. My nanna lived in Cardinal Schiberras street but I don't remember il Weid. Next time I go to Malta, I will visit the valley.
INteresting to see and hear about this area and its development.
Yes so much happening all around malta
HI STEVE A NICE LONG WALK YOU DID THROUGH THE STORM WATER CHANNEL IN QORMI ,VERY INTERESTING TOO.I MYSELF HAVE HAD A FEW TIMES BEING ON DUTY WHEN FLOODING HAS TOOK PLACE,AND I DID MENTION IT SOME TIME AGO. ALSO IN MSIDA HAVE HAD A LOT OF FLOODING, I WAS THERE HELPING OUT,WHILE ON DUTY,AND BEING IN HOUSES WHERE THE WATER WAS COMING UP OUT OF THE TOILETS,WAS SOMETHING ELSE,CHEERS FROM YOUR WELSHMAN IN MALTA.
Thanks , contact me on FB lets meet ?
Another great video Steve, I really enjoyed it. It was very interesting and informative 😁👍🏼 Was the car with the funny horn peeping at you I wonder at 14:00 minutes in 😂 The new plans look nice to add some greenery to the area 🌳🌷I always wonder Steve, are there any ‘rough’ parts to Malta? Or areas that are less desirable to live 🤔
Yes its a nice plan, to green up a not so nice area
Mary 🇦🇺🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️ another interesting video, will look lovely when it’s done, so glad u take us everywhere. Love m,💕💕🇲🇹💕💕🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️👍👍👍👍
Thanks so much 😊 Mary
Well never knew about that valley before until you showed it on an earlier video, at the start there it looked nice with all the trees etc
This is another place I must put on my list to visit that you have shown us. We have been to Qormi a few times, we had a Maltese friend from Qormi but sadly he is no longer with us now. Enjoyed the walk Steve. 👍
Hey John, There are many places locals dont think are special until Englishman comes across them !!
Evening Steve. A bit late to the party on this one but an interesting walk. Gave me the fanciful notion of whether there'd be the possibility of a couple of canals for boating if the Government there had the inclination. I expect they'd dry up too quickly.
Better late then never ...😬😬😬😋 Yes the flood is all over in a day or two
Another interesting video, you take us to places off the beaten track, lovely views along the way, remember a bad flood when I lived in Malta, it seems to save it all up then dump it all in one go, a family member had his car wash out to sea- gone for ever, park will be an added attraction around Quorni when it’s finished, be careful balancing on them narrow ledges.
Yes its a good idea, and will make the area more beautiful, lots of areas in Malta , had flooding for many years, hopefully its all sorted now, many changes around
Nice video Steve you take us to places off the beaten track love it 👍
Thats my aim David
@@EnglishmaninMalta ❤
I was born in Qormi, so was my mother and her family, still have uncles aunts and cousins there, my uncle lives in Valley Rd , just where your walking Steve , been there 10 times, we are from St George side.
St George seems more historic, i need to do a few videos over there
Please try to go inside St George Church in Qormi Steve,
@@dorisdarmanin4274 hey Doris i have it on my list can you get someone to contact me from there ? Maybe you family knows someone? Thanks for your support
Great video Steve, very imformative. Never knew all that existed. Thanks.
There are now many tunnels under ground for storm water not like the old days
Thanks for todays walk Steve , a nice mixture of country and town , always interesting 👣
Thanks 👍 lyn

Thanks 👍 Ian
Nice video Steve , always nice to see any part of Malta and the energy you put into it. Bravu 👌
So much more to show x
Here in Lancashire and Yorkshire they run dry stone walling courses. It is interesting to watch them piecec all the stones together. Was an interesting walk Steve thanks for sharing. Nice to see what's going on over there xx
Its harder then you think ! Thanks for the comment
Yes not easy to do at all xx
STEVE 🏴IN🇲🇹 IN THE VALLEY OF FLOODS 🚶 ☔ 💦 💦 🎥 👏 ☺
In the 70s like @ Msida, there in Qormi we used to keep waders @ station. I've witnessed a couple of frightening floods exactly where you were 💦 😲. "BLATA" = "Rock" 😉.
Steve, NOTICED your changing to warmer clothing now ❄ 🍃 ☔.
THANKS STEVE. See you 🔜..
Cheers 👍 🇲🇹 ♥ 🇪🇺 ™
Yes. Bit of a chil sometimes with the rain. I remember crossing the valley b'kara one cold rainy night if it wasn't for the curb the car would have gone 🥴🥴🥴🥴
@@EnglishmaninMalta Sent you an email. Cheers 👍 🇲🇹 ♥ 🇪🇺 ™
Enjoy the video thx!
Glad you enjoyed! rose ..take care
Thks 🇬🇧Steve for your efforts🇲🇹....but....that valley comes from Wied is-Sewda Attard, my friend, Wied Qirda truly connects from under HalFarrug, but still👍....both valleys, as you truly confirm, connect through Marsa Sports Grounds ending Marsa creek towards Grand Harbour👉 Keep on going Englishman, you R followed🤜🤛
Yes i think i was a bit mixed up when i noticed it not flowing. thanks for the correction. I will try harder next time 🤣🤣
Are they fig trees Steve? I have never been there most of Malta I haven’t seen I haven’t been around Malta much just just 3 places not much and Gozo
No idea...i always get mix up with trees
Is it going to be turned into a park all the way?
I am not so sure I did not see any plans, But I will be keeping you updated
Yet another very informative video Steve , ha ha ha , only in Malta eh..........put a car park in a flooding area . The last time I was over there we had rain of `Biblical` proportions , quite a few vehicles washed into the sea never to be found , Luqa shut down after being struck by lightning , didn`t see any floating coffins though .
Google it ...in that valley i was forgot to add the pic. Yes i have experienced many scary moments
Another very interesting Video Steve, thanks. I'm concerned about that mirror of yours. I think you will find those cracks are not in the glass. :=)
I might like to add....I use polly filler everyday needed or not !!
@@EnglishmaninMalta I like it, nice one Steve. :=))
