If anything, I'm SHOCKED you didn't make this video SOONER. For me personally, 1.8 just hasn't felt the same since at least 2 and a half years ago. I physically can't understand how some people can continue to sink in hundreds if not thousands of hours on something that's as outdated as 1.8, and I can only imagine most of those people live very unhealthy lives.

R.I.P I myself will probably stick to the 1.8 until something changes or I will just quit Minecraft overall. I am not a good 1.9 player but the problem I have with 1.9 version is that it's very limited and slow. Compared to 1.8 that has countless gamemodes regardless of it not being updated for 10 years. 1.20 pvp just has duels and hoplite and that's it. 1.8 pvp is limited by no game updates but 1.20 pvp is limited by the pvp mechanics which make it hard to make fun gamemodes.

the second 1.9 pvp existed, i was ecstatic. it really went from spamming to a strategy based, fun, and much more stressful system. i can understand the enjoyment from 1.8, but honestly, i always stick with newest updates for pvp.

Dude I'm totally in the same boat. I've also played 1.8 since it came out, I'm only a couple months younger than you.
I really don't mind one or two fights on 1.8 every now and then, but I struggle to spend any more than 10-15 minutes on 1.8
1.20+ has endless possibilities, the unique game modes are so fun. Even the difference between Beast kit and Speed are literally so different.
1.8 and 1.20+ feel like almost different games to be honest.

100% valid and honestly you shouldn't limit yourself to the 1.8 community. Your a determined and talented content creator and you need to focus on what YOU enjoy. If that means quitting youtube or finding a different niche then go right ahead

Wow time flies. I've been playing PVP since 2014 and I got burnt out of 1.7/1.8 two years ago. I have played it for over a decade, but nowadays its very difficult for me to hop on it anymore or Minecraft in general. It no longer feels the same and that passion I once had for it is gone. I've seen many 1.8 videos for many years now by you and other creators who have long since left the community as well, and its crazy to see so many people come and go. Personally I have many issues with the current 1.20+ combat that I wish would get fixed, but I was able to enjoy it more when I eventually got into it in recent years.
It may be the end of an era, but this is only the beginning of a new one 💙

I completely get it. I felt the same with bedrock, and it's one of the reason I moved to java. It just wasn't fun anymore. The spam hit, weird knockback, and hits send you flying. And then I started watching some 1.20 PvP youtubers like Sharpness, DrDonut, Clownpierce ect. And I realized that it was a lot different, and looked, well, more fun for me. That's mainly why I do 1.20 Java PvP now. I look forward to future 1.9+ videos from you Intel. Keep it up!🐐

If only 1.7 - 1.8 combat was eternal, Minecraft wouldn't have 2 different mini-games combat system, Such a shame that Notch doesn't work for Minecraft anymore.
Its been 2-3 months since i stopped playing Minecraft, and its been around 5-6 month since i last played bedwars, Minecraft was good and still is but because of my own problems, college and other stuff i dont have time to play Minecraft now a days.
This makes me want to cry, I do wish you the best of luck though. I wonder what will happen to 1.7/1.8 in the future, it seems not great so far which is why I am sad.
I still love its combat so much better. Sucks that all the new items and features are all in 1.9 combat.

You did an extremely impressive job staying in 1.8 over a decade. Every skill i know in minecraft 1.8.9 is from your tutorial and Technoblade's gameplay bro i know you since 2019 when i start minecraft i know its not a long time but i will defenetly miss ur 1.8.9 gameplay. Hope you never lose your skill in 1.8 if it ever gives a huge comeback .Anyway good things must come to an end .

I remember those days logging on to play hcf latenights with a couple of my friends or hop on practice when leaderboards actually mattered for pot pvp. I will forever miss those times and I will miss the friends I made then even more, but playing with the modern smp community feels like those times I use to play hcf and had fun sweating the game and i've managed to meet some of the coolest people and start content on my own. Nothing it forever and I respect you for leaving it behind o7.
I absolutely agree that 1.8 has gotten stale, hell I feel the same way with you. The only thing it not being stale is the friends I play with or whenever I stream it on twitch, interacting with chat and all. Whatever the changes we must treasure the memories it gave us (pandemic era for me gave me so many good and bad memories for 1.8 its surreal)

Playing bedwars with the boys used to hit so hard and now its filled with cheaters and toxic sweats.
I remember that vid Intel made about if its time to move from 1.8 and thought he was quiting 1.8 then but now seems like the prefect time to move to 1.20 because of servers like Hoplite.
as a 1.8 pvp and 1.20+ survival tryhard, i too find the newer combat style more strategy-oriented (tho bedwars has strategy) and look forward to your 1.20 combat content!
1v1 duels in regular survival worlds are also a lot of fun and endurance-based so im really excited

I don't understand why you have to quit, why not just say you're bored with 1.8 and you'll be playing 1.20 for the forseeable future, and return to 1.8 whenever you feel like play it
Cube crafts egg wars was the OG. The server unfortunately is not as popular as it once was but is on 1.20 now. I’d love to see it get some love. Try it out some time

Balance is usually key in everything. I usually alternate from 1.8 to 1.20 occasionally. Both versions are amazing.
Either way though, your content was fun because of you, not 1.8. If you switch versions, I'm still gladly supporting you! You make your content amazing!

I think this is the best option as I think all servers will start moving to 1.20 as 1.8 doesnt have the pull it used to. For 4 years 1.8 was for pvp and 1.9+ was for survival but it seems 1.9+ is for everything and 1.8 is for the small chunk of people who still prefer older versions.

I can understand why you feel stale about 1.8, I just switch between versions every couple of months, but I suppose I haven't come close to playing near 10 years of 1.8, so I can't really relate. Also, nice PvP match we had on Stray! You are about as good as Sharpness (I fought him the same day as you (Although he's washed))

I was not playing at the time of peak 1.8 and I like it a lot more. The thing is newer versions make it impossible to bridge like 1.8 and I am still relatively new to bedwars. I enjoy it a lot and it’s sad to see the community vanishing. However, 1.20 is pretty cool, but I still don’t think I want to relearn that combat system, and hoplite just isn’t my thing without bridging as a key aspect.
