One thing to add about the "Luna" 14 MC card is that is even better, because having the colony there means every gen it resets to one step higher, making the trading bonus one step better everytime you trade there which is on average 3MC per step, so I think taking this into consideration you can use the 4MC version of luna.
I'm playing TM for a few months and I LOVE your series. You had put so much knowledge, effort and... humor here. Thank you, this is a gem - thanks to you I'm loving this game more and more (math/science fan here) :-)
Found your channel yesterday. I’ve recently bought the app after a few disorienting, sparse games against/with experienced players IRL. These guides and owning the app make it so easier to grasp things better.
Thanks appreciate it ^^ and yea you totally should. The more Mars I play the more I realize how great and balanced the game is. There is a reason it's already a modern classic :D
@@BonelessDota looks like I placed an order in the meantime :) TM, prelude plus Hellas/Elysium on its way! Balanced is one of the most promising aspects for long-term fun with the game. I also like to explore the variety of cards and look forward to trying all the distinct strategies and hopefully share the excitement with my friends. I really like your mathematical approach. Won't always follow it for sure, but it's nice for giving things perspective :)
@@timknauer8906 Thanks appreciate it. Sounds great. Consider Venus Next + Colonies next time you feel like shopping. Also great expansions. Turmoil you don't need xD It's not bad but most players are fine playing without it. Good luck with your Mars adventure, hopefully you and your friends will get as many good hours out of it as I have.
yep they are. Did I say the opposite? I guess what I meant was that discount cards excel when you setting up your entire game to go for the greedy lategame engine. Discount cards can also give you value enough to justify playing them in rush-games sometimes but they are not seen so much in rush games. Generally they are better for greedy engine lategame games. In any case they are ofc, like you said, better if you play them early. ^^
Cheers, appreciate it :D You might be late to the party but that's maybe fine as I'm taking a long ass time to finish this project. I have maybe 8 more videos to go before this strategy guide is complete + some gameplay should be coming up sooner or later. So you are not the only one who is late ^^
10 MORE tips to help you win. This is the second half to the first video. I would appreciate feedback, good and bad, then I will discuss these points in ep. 10 called feedback. Thanks ^^ Have a great sunday!
In your view, what are the S-tier economy cards? In my mind, acquired companies is very good, mines, certain city cards if you have cheap energy. And another question, what are your f-tier corps for two player and for 4-5 players?
F-tier 2-players. Unmi. F-tier 5-players. Hard to say. I'm not a big fan of Mining Guild or Inventrix, but perhaps there is a worse corp I'm forgetting. Strong economy cards. Aquired Companies is good true. Space Hotels. Insects. If you are rushing terraforming in 4-5-player games, some of the tempo engine stuff might be preferred. But generally, if we are talking first or second generation, most of the small production cards like Aquired Companies, Mine or Titanium Mine are good. In 5-player games Toll Station can be deadly. In long greedy games Lunar Mining can get pretty nuts too ^^
@@BonelessDota I would be interested in a video where you had random starting hands and you went through what you would pick and why. I think that would nicely tie together your other videos. A few examples. Especially if they are suboptimal starting hands. Thanks for your content very good.
@@iantaylor2331 Thanks first of all! Yea it's a good idea. Sooner or later I will upload more gameplay content from the Mars app. Could slow down to break down the opening hand in those videos. Perhaps I'll also squeeze it into the strategy guide somehow. Cheers.
Does it also help by playing/practicing solo?... And if so, which solo is best for that? Obtaining the points or achieving the 3 points (oxygen, oceans, heat)
If you mean the solo mode, then yea it's good training. But lacking the element of a decent opponent of course and not milestones and so on. How you end the game depends on which expansions you play with. Slightly tweeks solo mode with the expansions. My feeling is that it all helps. Closing the game fast is nice (especially the high level players enjoy this strategy). But trying to get the points within 12 generation or whatever it is is also good practice. Haven't played solo mode since 5 years ago, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Best of luck ^^
I made a shorter revised version of Ep. 1 + Ep. 2 (this video) More focus on tempo engines and stuff like that. ^^ ruclips.net/video/QCiwH7EjXfs/видео.html&ab_channel=BonelessDota
Lol good point. I guess in case he played protected habitat or he didnt make anymore animals after he saw predators eat his 1 animal. In practice I do remember a few times where we had a situation where the predator guy had no animals to steal. Maybe he had Viral Enhancers or he needed the animal tag for Advanced Ecosystems or something. Can't recall the reason.
@@BonelessDota I don't think it's worth it in that case. It's good to keep predators in hand waiting for opponents to play other animals, but if they don't do it, or oxygen is the last parameter to end, I discard it.
You can eat your own animals if you want to with Preds. It’s not often the correct choice, but I’ve been on some situations where it was the best line of play available to eat my own Small Animals or Herbivores or whatever and add to my Preds since I intended to play things like Imported Nitrogen or Large Convoy with my remaining titanium in the closing gens for maximum points. It’s usually a very niche scenario, but there are certainly times where it’s mathematically correct to play Preds into opponents who’ve played no animals that can be eaten. It’s most common in situations where both Viral Enhancers and Eco Zone both are part of your scaling combo scoring package.
I enjoy both actually. Playing without draft makes for shorter games (timewise) which is enjoyable if you just want to play casually. However, generally people prefer drafting as it adds another layer of strategy to the game and some would argue it also reduces the luck factor a tiny bit. If I want to play a game and take it seriously, I too would prefer drafting.
