His character arc is truly one of my favorites in Haikyuu, perhaps in all of the anime I've seen. Watching you get to experience his moment for the first time was so much fun!

@@anua7587 Those are flashy and fulfilling but just out of my own preference, I really like smaller stories about regular life and people and to see that reflected in "the normal guy" has always been really satisfying to see. That's just my preference however

This is so true the whole time I watched it for the first time I watched everyone get their character development but I knew it was coming and kept waiting patiently for Tsukishima's
The block's obviously incredible every time, but it's really him cheering for himself that makes me cry. It's so good.

I heard somewhere in an interview with the voice actor that it's the very first time he cheers in the series. Every time the team does a team yell, the director had him not participate. Just to make this hit that much harder.

Satori is like the cutest 😭😭😭 I love his energy and playfulness. He's also really caring, we get to know him better later in the season and next season, his character will grow up on you.

I have watched this series so many times and that block NEVER gets less hype. The pacing on Tsukki's character growth the patience to wait for the right moment for pay off 2 seasons of growth. The writing is so good it makes the re-watch just as good BECAUSE you know this is coming!
For me is not the block but the shout. Tsuki the character that just played because he’s good enough too. Being hyped enough at his own efforts to scream. Is what does it for me

the most INTENSE and SLOWEST slow burn for a character I have ever seen, but the "moment" made it the most worth it. I'd say that Tsukki's shout afterwards is my favorite clip in the entire series, and that is saying a LOT because there's some insane scenes in this show. I'm so glad you made it, been waiting for you to get here since day 1!
The VA, Uchiyama Kouki also said he was specifically told to hold back all 2 seasons, and acting this scene felt like a release for him, as it was for us fans haha 😆

Tsukishima's character development in this is really good, He came from having no care and saying volleyball was just a club into him being strategic and leading the team. He is also now very dedicated into blocking like he is taking it seriously. His moment was very exciting to watch and it's one of the moments that you'll feel really proud.
He also didn't give 100% because that way he always had an easy excuse. I mean he felt inferior to Hinata and Ushijima is on a different level.
That's the big development here. Trying your best despite the chance that you might no succeed.
@@NM-ev7pu I totally agree with you, And that development actually applies to a lot of the characters in haikyuu and probably applies to the whole karasuno team since they keep doing different plays and try their best even when they thought they won't be able to win the game ( I would say this mindset of the team apllies to season 1 especially when they are still considered as a flightless crows during those times)
Tbh even when Tsukki tease Hinata a lot about his height and too much energy, he always felt that hinata was more superior than him and he also doubts himself to do something that hinata does. In Ushijima's case I would say everyone would feel inferior since they know he's a good and strong player that's why kei also would feel inferior but then again you just always have to try and do your best and everything will somehow work out especially having a team that would help you get through the obstacles.
I feel like it is a pretty relatable thing for people too. Making excuses like Tsuki did as a self defense mechanism because you don't want to fail. Things like, "Why are you trying so hard?", "It's just ....", "So and so is super talented and I'm just normal", etc. become self fulfilling barriers because you never allow yourself to take that risk. Getting to see Tsuki shed the mental restraints he put on himself is just really amazing and something we've been rooting for.

The gift from the female player is indeed a good luck charm.
They're called 'omamori' (comes from the verb mamoru aka 'protect') and they're very popular in Japan: every shrine and temple has a shop where they sell a wide variety, for different "uses", like good luck with school, work, family, love etc.
And of course, you can also knit one yourself, adding that homemade personal feel to it
if you make one yourself, you should have it blessed at a shrine though! ^__^

I love Tendou! He’s so funny and playful, and has such an endearing weirdness to him! And though he may be a little odd, he really is talented at volleyball and is a beast on the court.

Victoriaa, yess! Your comments about the Opening are on point. It’s kinda like the culmination of all the games they’ve had to the moment, that’s why you feel the song start slow and low, and then keep increasing in intensity! Also the animation of the opening shows it! How they keep climbing the mountain(Seijoh and the other teams) and then they see there is a bigger Peak(Shiratorizawa)

I think that the other Karasuno players were more surprised that Tsukki did a victory yell than him blocking Ujishima.
Since Tsukki was introduced in season 1 everyone was waiting for you to reach s3 ep4 for his hype moment! It's one of the most iconic scenes in the show and gives you chills!
Haikyuu fandom is so great. Everyone here already knew about this scene since you saw episode one but no one spoiled it this entire time. Haikyuu has one of the best fandoms.

as for my top three characters, mine are shoyo, oikawa and akaashi (the setter from bokuto’s team)! i feel like a lot of the most popular characters aren’t from karasuno, so that tells you a lot on how endearing every team is.
I always get chills when Tsukki screams at the top of his lungs. That’s the moment where Volleyball kinda just clicked with him and he truly started falling in love with the sport. His character development is one of the absolute best in the entire anime.
Love Vic's reactions to Satori and her calling him "It the Clown" right off the bat 😂😂😂😂 so hyped for the rest of the season too, Tuesdays are my favourite just because of these reactions!!!♥️♥️
Edit: My personal top 3 characters are 1- Satori(I adore him), 2- Suna (from season 4) , and 3- Sakusa (also from season 4), but I absolutely love every single character in Haikyuu

I love Tendo's character. He's that very perceptive friend of yours that just straight up tells you real shit.
Tendou is one of my top 4 favourite Haikyuu characters along with Kuroo, Oikawa and another player in season 4 (Atsumu). For one thing his backstory makes you love Tendou’s character and both his personality and skills make him really loveable. Tendou may look a little creepy but he’s really sweet, especially in the few scenes he has in season 4 makes him even more likeable.

good ole zombie-boy Satori Tendo; I love how eccentric he is - he's got a sadistic streak in him with his love for breaking spirits, but other than that he's a pretty good guy and great friend of Ushijima's

Tendou is like one of the top ten of the fandom from like what I've seen. We love him, wish the best for him, pray that he's always happy. Past the whole show that he puts on, Satori is just a player who wants to feel good and welcomed and like the fandom in general feels a deep connection with him because of what will happen in the episodes to come.

Basically Tsukishima was smugly daring Hinata to match up or do one better after getting a compliment, which set our little sunshine off

Vic we LOVE tendou (if you couldn't tell by my profile pic😅)!!! my top three are probably Bokuto, Tendou, and Kageyama. When you were talking about how each season shows a new level of vollyball I got so excited for you ti react to season 4 because you're going to meet some really incredible new characters and its a whole new level of volleyball!!
Hi Vic! You mentioned in your previous reaction video that you want to see how the characters live their life outside volleyball. There are around two special episodes about that. It's on Crunchyroll (they're called Original Video Animation or OVA for short). These episodes are fun and slice-of-life 😊
I love how you just explained the genius writing style of Furudate. He's also a very realistic writer which I also like. Oh and some people may say Tsukki was the first person to block Ushijima but that isn't true. Teams like Date Tech are much better blockers than Karasuno and could easily block Ushijima throughout a game. Also, Ushijima and his team has gone to Nationals yet they even haven't gone all the way, which means they've had to have been stopped, along with Ushijima. There are better teams, Nationally. Although, that being said, Ushijima could possibly be the best player that year for Japanese High School.
I dont know if you caught it Vic but what that flashback before his scream was basically implying that now Tsukki had his moment that got him hooked on volleyball. Since before this he was either neutral like in S1, or in S2 where he was starting to become interested and wanting to get better. Just like Bokuto said he would he got his moment. The fact that this was set up for like an entire season or more makes this moment so satisfying.
Japan uses the international substitution rules, or a total of six substitutions (once in and once out) so hence the serving substitution may only be for one rotation, if you lose a point on your serve. USA from high school through college really is different with the non-stop substitutions (ok 15 subs). Going from 6-1 to 6-2 with Kageyama/Suga on the court at the same time is something that we've seen on the show. But if Suga left the court, he could not come back in until the next set.
I'm Brazilian, I really like haikyuu and I'm loving your reaction to the series, I play volleyball and I had the opportunity to play for the sada cruzeiro team but I ended up not being able to go because of other problems, but I still play volleyball, I'm a setter.
my favorite haikyuu characters are: 1- Kuroo (nekoma captain) 2- Oikawa (K-pop) 3- Bokuto (hey hey hey).
Tsukki was my favorite from the moment he was introduced, just like Vic. My fondness of him was diminishing little by little throughout the series but when he managed to block Ushijima's spike I was speechless and started crying. Tsukki is the best ♥ And of course congrats to Vic for marrying her own Tsukki!

these teams turn over completely every 3 years, so there's only so much you can drill into a bunch of teenagers training in the free time they have from studying.
Thanks to your school's influence you select a few diamonds to build your team around and do your best with them and he gets results by consistently qualifying for Nationals.
Not anybody can randomly get a one-in-a-generation setter, a freak athlete who can jump more than double his height and a 190cm natural blocker all at once one year

When it comes to Tendo, ya, I think most of the fandom adores him.
Personal top 3, tho... Tsukki (for what you've just experienced), Suga (for generally being the most positive lovable guy around) and the third spot is very difficult, but it might actually go to Oikawa.

I still really recommend you watch the bonus scene from the season 2 recap movie, even if you don’t film a reaction, I think it’s really great to watch and I really think you’ll enjoy it. And if you were wondering about the OADs on Crunchyroll, they’re little bonus episodes. They aren’t canon (they are anime original, not based off the haikyuu manga/comics) but are fun and I recommend watching them at some point.

tendo is a super popular character!!!! and my top three faves... i mean, i'd HAVE to pick hinata and kageyama, they're a given!!! but if you took them out of the running... oikawa, someone you'll meet in season 4, and goshiki (#8 on shiratorizawa, the first year with The Bangs™). honorable mentions to suga and yamaguchi and kenma. 🥰 (... i know that's a lot more than just a top three but there's like a million characters in haikyuu, cut me some slack 😂 even now i want to add more to the list haha)
This is one of the best moments in any anime, let alone just a volleyball anime. The buildup over multiple seasons for Tsukki's character arc. The moment it happens with the music. And Tsukki's yell! His roar is more hype than the actual block for me. The moment he's hooked. Karasuno's entire reaction is amazing because they're reacting not just to winning the set, but they've never seen Tsukki act like that. The way it's animated and the music that goes with it just gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. All like 100 times I've watched it lol

I mean this in the nicest way possible (but will probably end up sounding rude anyways so apologies in advance), you need to pause the video when you talk. When you talk over the show you don't fully understand the subtitles or miss them completely, which greatly hinders your experience. Trying to commentate over something with subtitles is hard enough for anyone, but practically impossible for someone who's new to anime. Hell, I've been watching anime for years and still need to pause in order to put a coherent thought together. Having a weakness isn't bad, but it's important to know how to accommodate for it.
As soon as I watched your reaction to episode one and two I was reminded of Tsukki's block and went back and rewatched it. Then I looked up what episode it happened in and so I came into this video SOOOOO excited to see your reaction. It's honestly one of my top Tsukki moments ever.

1. Kuroo Tetsuro - Nekoma: seriously he made haikyuu a more enjoyable experience by actively inviting tsukki/hinata to play more, giving them tips, and his general interaction with other character. But if you ask my top 3 by the end of the series its Hinata, a certain setter introduced in season 4, and the Ushijima. A drastic change but Hinata's whole story really deserve the top 1 spot for me.

The best part about the volleyball becoming more advanced? It's gets really fun and keeps you hooked. Each match has so many crazy moments, and the story telling helps keep it going organically, just mwah chefs kiss

I feel like it's cheating to put the main character on the list so I won't include our red headed wonderboy. I also want to express that there are so many amazing characters in this show that make it extremely hard to pick favorites.
This is one of MANY episode that brought me to tears, Tsukki's triumphant moment and his reaction to it still make me tear up... I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!

Been waiting a while for you to see this episode and Tsukki have his breakthrough. I get goose bumps every time because his story and this game had such a long build up and it came to a climatic and satisfying end (at least for the set). This show is truly inspiring and seeing everyone enjoy it and hyped for it really puts me in a happy place.
Tsukkis moment was truly iconic...I remember when I watched this episode my reaction was pretty similar to yours, but when tsukki yelled and cheered after his block, I yelled and cheered along with him!!!! He really is a phenomenal character and I'm so glad you got to watch his growth along with all your HOMIES!!!
