Without any spoilers and as someone who has consumed a lot of Asa Asakusa media, he's intensely interested in psychological writing and does not use archetypes as a means of pandering, he does it as character study. Even when it gets really weird, it's for a psychological reason. For his writing, if it comes across as bait/pandering, you may just be missing something (that happened before or will be shown later). And yeah, but my interpretation from Akane's acting is that the Staringan eyes Akane gets are not only when she's acting as Ai, but just when she's "in the zone", as we've seen her have those eyes when she's clearly not acting like Ai. When she was doing that, she was also talking, moving, and emoting like Ai did as well.
i watched a phycologist react to this show and he loves it because of how much they delve into realistic phycology and how the characts act in realistic ways and all the characters various past traumas and how it makes them act
Yeah, for me the star eyes just imply her total resolve. Like how she was resolved to change herself by acting like Ai in S1, this time she's resolved to support Aqua all the way. Which is shown in the following episode.
15:40 I should point out that the star eyes don't necessarily mean that Akane is putting on the persona of Ai at the moment (though they will show up when she is). You can tell from the way she speaks, because it's very clear when she's acting out Ai.
Also in the first episode of this season we saw the stars in her eyes when they're starting rehearsal so yeah it's just displaying her genius mode instead of going in Ai persona
The star eyes is literally just a implications of a character's star power. Of course it would be further delve into later on, where more people be seen with star eyes, so it's not exclusively an Ai thing.
@@ymw1107 yea it's just a representation of "talent" or being in "the zone" but for actors, which speaks volumes on how talented ai was since she had it permanently

So yeah the star eyes are talent but at the same time, Akane is supposed to be crazy. We get another scene in the very next episode of her trying to feed him like he's a baby. Channeling Ai in that moment to be more supportive is in character for her. We get Kana saying earlier in this episode that Akane was babying Aqua. You think the writer made Akane pretend to be Ai, have a pretend romantic relationship with Aqua while pretending to be his own mom all while Akane has this kind of motherly attitude towards Aqua as a coincidence? You could read it as Akane trying to channel Ai or you could read it as being representative of how Aqua feels in that moment.

Maybe I do give it to much credit because of the author but this show thus far has not given me a reason to not believe it has reason for the typical anime bullshit.
People are being harsh to you guys in the comments but honestly the only thing y'all got wrong was thinking Akane is impersonating Ai whenever she has the eyes, because that's not always the case. But Akane does play the role of imitating Ai to please Aqua anyways lol, for instance one of the things she did was letting her hair grow to resemble Ai's. People are also getting defensive and saying you're tripping for thinking Aqua loved Ai but while I too think he didn't love her romantically, let's not act like the guy wasn't at least a little bit infatuated by her lol. There's even an episode in season 1 when he questions what were his real feelings towards Ai, it was really a complicated relationship with a lot of mixed feelings involved. Great reaction and I agree with majority of your points.
btw understandable you find the series weird but alot of your points about the character & story are so far off like the star eyes doesnt mean Ai, Aqua wasnt in Love with his Mother Ai, it wasnt hint insect ship aquaruby here, etc..
The stars don't mean that you are Ai. They means you are living a lie. Light stars you do it out of "good" intentions. Dark stars mean you do it with "bad" intentions.

Why so many dislikes? I don't understand
Also aqua has never been I love with Ai as far as we know. He was a super fan but not inlove
I know oshi no ko has alot of anime bullshit trapings but dont froget this is written by the guy who wrote kaguya aka is good at writing interesting and complex characters I would say say the stuff with akane is creepy because she is very enabling of aqua and this show has been continues to be clear people being around yes men is a bad thing and even if its unintentionally toxic aqau and akanes relationship is a toxic one at its core. Maybe I do give it to much credit because of the author but this show thus far has not given me a reason to not believe it has reason for the typical anime bullshit.
It's definitely not a healthy pairing. You are correct
Is there a continuation yet?😅
Everyone in this show need a therapy
You are onto something with Akane's act.
The stars don't mean that you are Ai.
They means you are living a lie.
Light stars you do it out of "good" intentions.
Dark stars mean you do it with "bad" intentions.
Didn't Akasaka say somewhere they represent talent, that makes more sense I feel like
Akane got them when she was skillfully acting as Ai, and then when she figured out the mystery, Aqua and Ruby have them since they each inherited Ai's talents in acting and dancing/singing
Aqua just a16years old boy that have a memories of a 30years old doctor that have died(?) in the past.
Loved the vid boldcast 🎉❤
14:40 Oh she can and she will
