July, 1940. After the heroic evacuation of Dunkirk, the Luftwaffe set their eyes on mainland England. Never in the field of Human conflict was so much, owed by so many, to so few. The Battle of Britain had just begun.

@@thespetsnaz2272 the German Tiger I fried my brain as a small child. From the moment I saw it in a department store on a model kit box at about 5 years old I'd look at images of it for hours and be like: 'looook sooo pretty'.
Question which model, if your talking early war without the bubble cockpit I totally agree.
@@gfingers9117 now theirs a discussion.
Yeah, I'm not keen on the late model Spitfires with their Griffin engines and humongous props, and dramatically altered wings. Definitely the earlier models I - IX and the mark 8 actually came after the 9 (would you believe) and as far a hot looking I think the 8 was the hottest looking but still nice looking spitfire. But overall the nicest looking spits were the early ones.
Just like the Messerschmitts. The later BF109's had all manner of bubbles and heavier guns that reduced a lot of the handling of the 109 and in terms of handling and appearance the 109F is the best looking but not produced in the most numbers. Nicer rounder looking spinner, the removal of tail struts and rounded wing tips and generally regarded as the best 109 to fight or fly with.
But when I'm not staring at sexy looking Spits and 109's and I wanna look at something that looks so tough I cannot take my eyes off the Tempest V. I loved it before I read 'The Big Show' by Pierre Clostermann and now I love it even more after reading that book (awesome book by the way).

He was a hero in everyone’s eyes but he used to go around saying “I’m not a celebrity, I’m a spitfire pilot and an old man”. Rip grandad Roy forever a hero
The reason why the German air force could never defeat England cause England had chain radar towers form the north coast to the east coast of England which gave RAF a 20 minutes heads notice when German planes were over the English channel. The RAF had a total of 750 planes where as Germany had a total of 4,000 planes dedicated to the battle of England when Hitler postpone Operation Sealion to green light Operation barborossa the RAF had no planes left but the German air force suffer heavy plane loss due to the aid of Radar towers that England had but due to Hitler's stupidity of his fixation on the CCCP he allow England to recouperate there loss's at the same time USA shipping Vital war materials to England so England rebuild its RAF.

He may not of served during the Battle of Britain but he did technically server the RAF. He was a tail gunner for a Lancaster and flew over 100 missions 50+ being pathfinders. He was awarded the distinguished service cross for his actions.
He was credited with I believe only about 5 kills including an fw-190. 5 kills doesn't seem like a lot but that was actually quite good. Little family lesson from me (:
