Have to ask whether it is really necessary, efficient and value-for-money to have three days of swearing in when it could all be over in 5 minutes. And before you yell 'tradition', that's a £million pounds of your and my taxes which could be used for (say) papering Bunter's walls in No. 10.
a christian country that allows gay marriage and teaches kids they can identify as anything and where barely anyone goes to church anymore yeah very christian
Tolerance... none of us our clones. Indeed, there are British people who are muslims and muslims who converted to christianity. In this respect the UK has been tolerant for centuries, they respect cultural differences as long as its laws are respected.
@@anicetuneDid you not listen while watching? Members are sworn in order: Speaker, Father and Mother, Cabinet, Shadow Cabinet, Ministers, Shadow Ministers, 2010 electees, 2015, 2017, 2019, then 2024. It will likely be late tomorrow or Thursday.
Sinn Féin don't participate, so they won't appear in this video. I don't have a timestamp but when the SDLP leader came up he made a comment about doing it under protest.
@@glowstoneunknown They would have to swear in (or affirm) if they wanted to take their seats, but they boycott the whole thing. So you'll never see a Sinn Féin MP in the Commons or on a committee, and they don't get paid.
My God! Just think what all those goons cost the UK taxpayer!... 6 million a year in salaries alone! and that doesn't include the employer's national insurance, free pensions, free food and booze and the cost of running the building (utility bills and policing). And what do the UK public get for all that? They need to build a bigger house
they really should've years ago, like after the Commons was destroyed in ww2, Churchill had the choice to make the commons larger...
Or pay less useless MPs to do not very much.
They should watch india parliament far better than this
They tend to admire the older things
Has anyone got a timestamp for Nigel Farage being sworn in?
Didnt see it happen myself. Will probably be today
Go to parliament TV
I think he was late cus a recount.

Instead of swearing allegiance to king charles. Why not swear to uphold their manifestos ?

Parliament costs less than 0.1% of the total budget for government.
That includes the whole estate. Which is several buildings. The bills, the food. The staffing of the parliament.
