    I appreciate how philosophical you are when you are by yourself. When you are with Jen you spend a lot of time teasing her.

    Colorado, hmm. Let's see. I hitch-hiked over Loveland in '76. They routed the big trucks over the twisty road away from the interstate. Can't remember why. Guy I went across with said the week before his rig started slowly going over the edge to the right--he showed me where--and he got out on the gas tank and stood there with his hand through the window on the wheel to see if it would go over. It didn't. Hmm. Let's see if I can cheer you up. In Vail my friend Brian Thornhill saw an 18-wheeler fall into the valley at the west end there. So there's that. Hope that cheers you up.

    Get an oxygen saturation meter now that you are hiking high altitude with post Covid lungs. 92-93% is the seek medical attention level.

    You may be allergic to something around there. Your symptoms sound similar to what happened to people who used that cheap foam insulation many years ago. It would off-gas formaldehyde. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

    Matt when i was hiking up above Telluride i was at 12,5 K. The highest I'd ever been. And had been acclimatizing. I was hydrating up the wazoo. And I still got a nasty headache and sudden terrible vertigo. Will be praying for your health.

    I’ve seen a good number of people experiencing similar quality problems of the Nitecore batteries, including Darwin, who on a recent video had them as one of the pieces of hiking gear he is over. If it doesn’t work it isn’t lighter.

      UL gear has always come with the downside of being delicate but I think these just have some sort of quality issues going on. I suspect a lot of the online recommendations for them come from folks just looking at the weight numbers and not using them very heavily

    Previously you had mentioned reoccurring nausea in the morning.
    Wow
    I have been struggling with that for over 50 years now. I have long accepted that is just how mornings are and I tend to get a little bit later start than my wife.
    Coffee and medical marijuana seem to mitigate the symptoms somewhat.
    Gosh darn I love these videos

    If you're looking for a different option for a 10k battery, I've had great luck with one from Belkin. Been using it since 2021 on backpacking and paddle trips and it hasn't failed yet. It's not quite as light as the nitecore, but it's smaller than the anker 10k and only around $30.
    Good luck and hopefully you feel more up speed here soon.

      I need one with a usb c input / output that can charge fully in 1-2 hours aka quick charge

    • @BlackcatOutdoors
      @BlackcatOutdoors Год назад

      @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes I'll kill it and time it this week and let you know the charge time. I'm usually only out for 2-4 days at a time and then home, so I never paid attention. It's USB-C in and either USB-C to USB-C or regular USB - Whatever out. I've used it with micro, lightning, and usbc that way. It'll charge my galaxy s23ultra twice in about 2 hours going USB-C TO USB-C if that makes sense. 😁

    • @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes
      @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes  Год назад

      @BlackcatOutdoors it comes down to the input wattage the battery will accept. For example the two 20k batteries I had in the solar box on the Mississippi would only slow charge meaning 7-8 hours if empty. Fine for that trip but when hiking I need to recharge as quickly as possible. I’ll probably grab another Anker 10k if I can find one with the right stats just because they’ve always been bomber for me

    No regrets, stay the course, and you have focus. Keep moving and be safe. Easier to canoe with Tatters? Sounds like altitude sickness to me, headache and trouble breathing. Take care of yourself. COVID-19 while on the trail, how does that happen, deer, or mountain goat?
