- Nach méanar dúinn go raibh ceoltóir iontach, Sophia Desay, mar scoláire againn do Cúrsa B, 2014 anseo i gColáiste Chiaráin. D'aistrigh Sophia amhráin "I See Fire" a scríobh Ed Sheeran don scannán "The Hobbit" go Gaeilge don Comórtas Tallaine. Bhí an amhráin chomh álainn agus binn go raibh orainn í a thaifead chun a tallainne a roinnt le gach duine eile. Nasc muid an ceol le físean de radharc an loch anseo ins an Cheathrú Rua. Bain taitneamh as!
During our second Gaeltacht course we were fortunate enough to have a very talented musician in the college, Sophia Desay. Having heard Sophia translate and perform the Ed Sheeran hit "I See Fire" from the movie "The Hobbit", we decided we would have to have her record the song. We coupled the excellent song "as Gaeilge" with a time-lapse video of a picturesque lake view in An Cheathrú Rua. We hope you enjoy!!
Some songs should just be sung in Gaeilge and this is definitely one of those songs
"I See Fire"
Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin's sons
If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out father oh
Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father oh
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I'll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame
Calling out father oh
Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns
Then my brothers will die
And as the sky is falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out
Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
I see fire (oh you know I saw a city burning out) (fire)
And I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin, yeah) (fire)
And I see fire (uh-uh-uh-uh) (fire)
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side
Very beautiful cover, grma!
This language is fantastically beautiful, I hope to learn it one day.
+AlotOfSunInHeaven Although it gets the particulars of the prepositions wrong, for vocab and basic grammar duolingo is a great starting point.
lol you better start then you will find out it's like learning three languages at once
I grant you special Irish luck from Irish person🍀🍀🍀🍀
All you need to know is "An Bhuail Cead agam dul go dtí and leathris learn do thuil"
+ellie smyth spelling is off sorry auto correct
having stayed 8 years in Ireland I can definitely say that part of this country and people stayed in me.. never I will be able to find such a place anywhere around the world and this language is an art
What a beautiful comment much love from Ireland 🍀
'Ti's a hard art to learn it though! I was in this Colaiste many years ago and I learned more Irish in a few weeks that in years of learning it in school!
This song sounds like it was written for Sophia and to be performed as Gaeilge!
where can i get this to put on my play list.. and irish man in new zealand.. simply awesome
Ohhhh God now this is why I love the Irish language shame that I can't speak anywhere near this level of Irish it's amazing
I'm actually learning Irish Gaelic from a nemo app. Though I only understood the song because I listened to the english one a million times. The singer is awesome BTW.
Go híontach ar fad! I was actually just thinking about translating this into Irish this weekend.
Honestly, one of the most beautiful languages in the world, this cover is actually better than the original :)
Why didn't I think to search for this song in Gaelige years ago? Absolutely beautiful!
Joe it would not have be available as Gaelige years ago!!!
Proud of you young lady. Beautiful voice and an even more beautiful nature. Xx
Lyrics!
I concur. Want.
Yes, yes, yes! Wonderfull and amazing. Sophia, you have a very nice voice. I'm delighted to hear you singing as Gaeilge. btw Irish translation as every other one loses natural rythm and accent of the song. But I like your cover a lot. I was learning Irish over 25 years ago at the university and now I catch only "sleibhte" and "tine", haha. Pretty much. Greetings from Poland. Adh mor ort!
amazing singer 👌👌
THIS is what the song needed so desperately. Bhfuil sé go hálainn.
This is amazing. What an enchanting voice!
This is so beautiful. :')
This is so amazing
Bhí mé ag iarradh é seo a athrú ar feadh cúpla mí 'nois. Tá sé seo go hálainn, is breá liom é.
Go híontach agus chanadh tú an-mhaith
Words can't do it justice. Great job. Go hiontach at fad! Ta se an t-amhran is fear liom nua!
I would LOVE to learn this language 😍
A beautiful version. Word of warning to people wanting the lyrics - they're full of glaring errors. Really basic stuff - the course tutors should have told the singer and allowed her the chance to rework the song before she went and recorded it. A shame, really - it was just as easy to get this right as it was to get it wrong - but not the singer's fault. An amazing voice.
Go híontach! B'fhearr liom an tamhrán seo, go háirithe as gaeilge!!
Gaelige/Gaelic is a beautiful language ❤❤❤❤
Ed Sheeran is a hard act to follow.
Lyrics? Pretty please? Because this language is so beautiful and many of us love but don't know understand it unless they see the words.
THIS SINGER IS SO TALENTED!! Why couldn't you have been the singer for the original song for the movie? You voice is SOOO pretty!!!
cool pen pal
This is amazing
Ar fheabhas. Is breá liom é seo! :-)
Any chance there is a place to download the audio from this video?
Go hiontach, is maith liom Ed Sheeran
Are there lyrics to this song?
does anyone have the lyrics for this? love it

Ó, súl misty an sliabh thíos
A choinneáil ag breathnú cúramach a dhéanamh ar anamacha mo dheartháireacha '
Agus ba chóir an spéir a líonadh le dóiteáin agus deataigh
Coinnigh ag breathnú thar mac Durin ar
Má tá sé seo go dtí deireadh i tine
Ansin, beidh muid sruthán go léir le chéile
Féach ar na lasracha tóg ard san oíche
Ag glaoch amach athair, seasamh ag agus beidh muid
Féach ar na lasracha sruthán Auburn an tsliabh
Agus má ba chóir dúinn bás anocht
Ansin, ba chóir dúinn bás go léir le chéile
Ardaigh gloine fíona don uair dheireanach
Ag glaoch amach athair, a ullmhú mar a bheidh linn a
Féach ar na lasracha sruthán Auburn an tsliabh
Tagann Desolation ar an spéir
Anois feicim tine, taobh istigh den sliabh
Feicim tine, a dhó na crainn
Agus féach mé tine, anamacha hollowing
Feicim tine, fuil sa Breeze
Agus tá súil agam go mbainfidh tú cuimhneamh orm
Ó, ba chóir mo daoine titim
Ansin surely beidh mé an rud céanna
Teoranta i hallaí sléibhe
Fuair muid ró-aice leis an lasair
Ag glaoch amach athair a shealbhú go tapa agus beidh muid
Féach ar na lasracha sruthán Auburn an tsliabh
Tagann Desolation ar an spéir
Anois feicim tine, taobh istigh den sliabh
Feicim tine, a dhó na crainn
Feicim tine, anamacha hollowing
Feicim tine, fuil sa Breeze
Agus tá súil agam go mbainfidh tú cuimhneamh orm
Agus má tá an oíche a dhó
Beidh mé a chlúdach mo shúile
Chun má na tuairisceáin dorcha ansin
Beidh mo deartháireacha bás
Agus mar an spéir ag titim síos ar
Crashed sé isteach ar an mbaile uaigneach
Agus leis sin scáth ar an talamh
Éisteacht liom mo dhaoine screadaíl amach
Anois feicim tine, taobh istigh den sliabh
Feicim tine, a dhó na crainn
Feicim tine, anamacha hollowing
Feicim tine, fuil sa Breeze
Feicim tine, OH tá a fhios agat a chonaic mé cathair lasadh (tine)
Feicim tine, a bhraitheann an teas ar mo chraiceann (tine)
Agus féach mé tine (dóiteáin)
Agus féach mé tine Auburn sruthán an tsliabh
+Mathieu Warren google translate, by any chance?
+Bumblybee256 friend did
