Great instructional video. Wayne gets straight to the point unlike some videos which take forever to actually tell you anything. Love the way Wayne works through all the possibilities from simple to most complex. Love the accent too. 😊👍
This is a great video and gets straight to the points that I needed to know, the extra tip that I got on another video that might be good to include is if the spring on the dispenser door needs replacing. Based on this video and a few others, I know know I need to call for service help. Thanks from Sydney Australia.
I think you are a genius. We started having trouble about a month or so ago - and as you show around 2 min mark, it was when my wife thought it was a wise move to store the pods under the sink with the reg. dish soap. Omg. You most likely have solved our case! You are better than Coluimbo! thank you so much for posting this video!
OMG! Thank you. It never crossed my mind that maybe the dishes were blocking the door. No wonder why it opens sometimes and other times it doesn't. Going to give it a try right now. Thank you!!!!!!!!
Great video. I checked my lower sprayer and it seemed to be binding. I spun it a few times and it loosened up. Now it spins freely. My soap wasn't dissolving. Hopefully this works. Wouldn't have occurred to me without this video.
Thank you for the trouble shooting tips, *hopefully* it's fixed now... the piston had popped out of it's spot... clipped it back in, I'll know in the next 45mins if it's worked!
I have a 2000 Whirlpool dishwasher that has the dial on it that I acquired on purchasing a new home. question is when is the cover supposed to open is it on pots and pans light wash does it always pop open immediately on the very first cycle or does it pre wash the dishes first before it opens?
What about the spring?! I can't find a single video talking about the spring that pops the door open. The electronics are fine. The latch is fine. The door doesn't open because it's not under tension anymore because the spring popped out. It's still there; just one end of it has come out and I can't figure how to get it back in without taking the lid off the dispenser.
If the dispenser in your dishwasher looks like the one shown in the video, then the tension spring isn’t accessible. You’ll need to replace the entire detergent dispenser as shown in this video: www.searspartsdirect.com/repair-guide/Dishwasher/how-to-replace-a-dishwasher-detergent-dispenser.html. If your dishwasher has a different type of dispenser, post the model number of your dishwasher and we’ll try to help you more.
I actually bought my dishwasher a Samsung, from Sears...I think the dispenser has opened about 3 times lol....No matter what I try, different brands....pods...it won't open...I give up.

My dispenser actuator is within spec. Should the plunger be movable manually?

On that type of model, the dishwasher typically pre-washes the dishes before opening the detergent dispenser cover.
Thanks, this is very helpful.
Someday I wanna grow a beard like that one. Thanks for making this great, informative video!

Excellent video
this is what really helps.
