Awesome Job Martin . I have the same car as you and have a BMW service plan for another year . I have changed the pollen and air filter before . Can I ask your advice about jacking it up I have a trolley jack but it isn’t good enough or safe for the weight of the car . What trolley jacks do you recommend where are you placing them and the axle stands to avoid damage to the underside . I have the plastic cups and will be looking to get two decent trolley jacks so I can safely do the oil change . Is there anywhere you can get the Ista from thanks
How is your car doing? I bought a 2016 750ix with 50k miles a few months ago and I am enjoying it. Thank you for making these helpful videos, and are you a trained BMW tech? And is this your daily driver? Do you have run flat tires?
I drive a 540i g31 ( leasing) .I will give it back because of vibrations at 75 and 140 kmh . Initial idea was to buy this car after leasing, but now I’m afraid to keep it
Hi i have one 740ld 2017 and sometimes I have a brake pedal problem they are hard and strong to push it but when i give a little gas it is good and when I drive make no problem … do you have a idea what that is? Thank you and sorry for my bad English :)
Hi you mentioned about small engine coolant leak. I have the same problem around every 800miles I need to top up coolant. Is any chance you found where was your leak?
Hello Martin! Can you tell me what are the differences in manteining a 730d and 740i. Is maintenance of 740i much more expensive. I am a petrol lover and thinking of buying a used 740i G11. Thank you and keep up a good work!
Hi, thank you, 740i and 730d actually sharing the same engine block, so I would say that maintaining of both engines will be similar, also engine B58 what is used in 740i got good reputation, when you google it you will see. For me the main difference is consumption, petrol is little bit thirsty.
Hi i quick question jus seen your tyres what size are they ? Im changing tyres today from run-flat to normal ones and thinking to get hyer profile by 5 so it was 275/30/20 and im wanting to do 275/35/20 and i thoud did you did that ? Or yours are stock ? Thanks
Hi, when you open the door on the B-pillar you’ve got label with all approved sizes of tyres for vehicle. Mine are stock size, which is for front 245/40R20 and rear 275/35R20
@@martinandmechanic Yes i have seen that but mine is max 275/30/20 and its not have the 275/35/20 I have canceled yesterday tyre replace cos we had new tyres coming today so i thot we wait for them and then decide. What i did see on your car is that wheels luck good with 275/35/20 so thats why i mentioned, other wise with 30 hight on tyre i have no comfort at all, all tho i have adaptive shocks and its not helping, by the way mine is not 7 series I did wanted to get like yours but as you know how it happens stars did not come together for that purchase and i bought a different one 🙈😁 By the way its good videos you do hard work when you change suspension on the drive way 🙈 i started like that my self so i know its not the most comfortable way of doing it 😁
In case you’re aiming for the ride comfort, it would be maybe better go for a smaller wheels with a bigger sidewall number. I also thought about swap for the smaller R19 due much comfortable ride, but the R20 in terms of the cool level suits to the 7-series the best 😂
Hello Martin I hope it's ok to contact you this way and I'm sure I will not be the only person with this question. I would like to change the transmission fluid on my BMW G11 730d but main dealer says they will not do this as it's not reqd. What would you suggest ? Can it be carried out by myself. ( I have similar wkshop to yourself) . Regards MG
👋 I have a question for you. What you think how long it will last new air suspension , strut on front right side becouse mine is damaged and whole car is lowered to the ground. Will it last for 2,3 years with normal ride , mostly on highway? I ask becouse it cost more then 2000€ at bmw dealer so if i have to change all of them every year i will sell car and buy something without air suspension. Tnx in advance for answer
I had a 2016 G12 and at around 130k miles, first one had this problem, and after 2 months another air strut had a leak and then after a few more months the third one had a leak as well. Don't want to scare you but I think it was because of the high mileage. Ended up selling the car. I was able to find third party air strut for much cheaper.
I would like to mention that in ISTA service manual from BMW dealer is note: “In case of faulty shock absorber or air strut, it’s necessary to replace both shock absorbers or air struts on axle when the car has driven in excess of 100 000 km”. But I would say it depends on environment where the car is driven or how is driven, also 130k miles is a nice milestone for the air struts, if you take a look in some previous comments of my videos, you’ll see that I already had conversation regarding the air struts.
You Are Amazing 👍👍 bmw shop will never do so good as you

Hi Michael, it’s not that hard to do it. There are quite a few videos on YT with ATF changing on ZF 8-speed transmission which is in G11/G12
How is the oil performing? I was thinking about 0W30 for my BMW diesel engine for a long time.
Hard to say at this moment, long time using will show the difference
