RIP Mr. Auberjonois. It's a treat watching this cast perform, but I'm inexplicably drawn to his performance most of all. At 18:11 you can see that, despite only his voice being used for the game, he's still acting with his body as well. Look at that: one hand on his sternum, the other thrown up and a simple head shake as though he's at a loss for an answer. And it translates so well into his voice. Out of all the amazing moments my two favorite have to be the exchange between Raziel and Kain at the pillars, and Raziel impaling himself.. I RENOUNCE YOU!
The Pillars scene was so beautifully executed. The setting of SR1 is a desolate wasteland. All that matters is Raziel's desire for revenge. Immediately after going back in time, he meets Mobius and has to escape the sarafan fortress. When he finally gets out and sees the world of Nosgoth teeming with life, it's the first time his mind can think about something other than revenge. It's as if Kain knew that Raziel wouldn't be capable of listening until that exact moment. That scene is when Soul Reaver fans who hadn't played Blood Omen could see through Raziel's eyes that maybe Kain wasn't quite as bad as we thought.

Ironically from watching the commentary on the Stargate SG1 DVD's, I learned the importance of voice projection. Recorded sound especially the human voice will always sound somewhat flat muted. So actors even on tv and movies, have to project their voices like stage actors must. In order to overcome the limitations of recorded sound. Which is what makes the LoK series so good, all the voice actors have extensive theater experience.
