Love seeing the new mages! I am excited to see different spells and see how well Frieren and Fern do on the mage exams! Who is your favorite mage from the series so far?
The exam arc adds SO MANY new characters, all of them mages, and at first I was like "yeah there's no way I'm gonna remember all of these people, much less actually care about them." But the show does such a good job making them interesting and unique that by the end I genuinely liked all of them. I don't think I could pick a single favorite mage, honestly, but the one I find most relatable is probably Richter, for reasons the show hasn't revealed yet (he's honestly kind of a prick during the first exam but he gets better the more you understand him).
my favorite mage is the old guy who knew what the holy symbol was! it's rare for anyone to recognize it but he did. major stonk up in my opinion. design wise, I think linie is still my favorite design so far.
Picking a favourite is really hard with that cast lol I have to say Flamme, love her power, love her design and love how impactful she was to the world of Frieren and Frieren herself.
@@SnuggleswithVy With a show in which the flashbacks are as intrinsic and well thought out as the current day events. It's not out of the question that we get to see a Flamme Frieren training montage lol
Choosing a favorite mage is a bit tricky cause a lot of them have some cool moments during this Mage Exam arc. However, if I had to pick one... I think I'd go for Land (the blonde glasses guy in Fern's group). I don't want to spoil anything, so I'm just gonna say that even though he looks a bit bland, his special magic is absolutely bonkers and also has some really hilarious implications later on. It's definitely the kind of thing I'd use if I ever became a mage.
7:26 I don't think we've gotten a definite answer yet beyond the implications that they are less needed and thus fewer people have the opportunity and motivation to do the training needed to become a mage (normally it takes more than ten years to get past simple apprentice level). Do keep in mind though that quite a few non mages can still use a spell or two (mostly of the "folk magic" sort that Frieren often collects).
With the fights with the demons still going on I'm surprised numbers have dwindled instead of increased for mages. Although the dangerous exams probably don't help numbers😅
@@SnuggleswithVy it may be hard to imagine, but the fighting now is actually very little compared to what it was like in the time Frieren speaks of, where basically most of the continent was engulfed in fighting the demons and humanity was at real risk of going extinct.
True but I would have thought some of her story might have been passed down in mage history😅 Maybe that some mages would have idolized Frieren the way warriers idolize Himmel.
Well Kraft says he is a monk, even though he is known as a warrior. Maybe he promised to never kill people again? Btw, i think the audio quality is not very clear in this video. Maybe the mic is too low.

I would like to put some perspective on people not recgonizing frieren. It has been 80 to 100 years and she is a war hero. Do you know and recognize ww 1 or ww 2 war heros? Most likely you have only heard a name. This is of course in a period where internet and photos exisit. Frieren exist in a world where maybe the printing press exist(most likely not though). Where the means for information to be parsed is by wagon(2 to 4 miles per hour) or ship( between 3 to 15 knots)[1.15miles per hour for a knott] . We also dont know of how people are educated. Most people would only hear of it from traveling minstrels, their parents, churches or elders. On top of that we have only seen two statues of Frieren. One in the capital and one in a town by eng road. Thats right one town doesnt even have a name. The only people that shouldve recgonized her were the town member off of eng road. Thats only because she was standing by it.

The series does a great job of making me love even new random side characters even if they aren't part of the main plot. Storytelling is chef's kiss👌🏻

Monks are like warrior priests, usually highly trained physically and in hand to hand combat unlike the normal priests you see.
yeah and in some lore they can only use blunt force weapons that dont cut like clubs or staves

Frieren's makers be like "let's hide the whole main plot in the flashbacks and show them casual things only.
the way I pay extra close attention to flashbacks because things get revealed in the most random flashbacks
