Leather goods designer here: I always found it very peculiar the Birkin was such a coveted handbag, considering everyone I've seen wore it like how it is shown in the video. As someone who designs handbags, that's a tell tale sign of poor design, if it's impractical to close/open while maintaining sufficient security. The ideal bag should be convenient for the user to enter and close, but safe enough so a thief does not have easy access to it: think magnetic snaps, zippers, and turn locks are of great practical design, etc. I find it a bit silly to want a bag only to wear it the opposite the way it was intended. But of course, to each their own. I just think the overall design is very poorly thought out 😅
Stand clear incase the thunderbolt misses me as I say, Louis Vuitton are hideous to my mind also. But some rave over them. There's no accounting for taste.
The funniest thing is that Jane Birkin would treat hers like a bucket 😂 filled to the brim almost bursting, battered and bruised, well loved. I think that is the most elegant way to wear it
Actually most celebrities get their assistant to pay for their meals, so for them it is very convenient since they won't be opening it for literally anything
When wearing zipper pants, fiddling with the top button to then fumble with the zipper when using the potty.... for me, wearing the top button open and zipper down all the time is much more convenient !
it’s wild that majority of people with a bag like this don’t want to scratch it, while the lady the bag was named after, she wore her bag like any other normal bag
Right! She wore it so comfortably and made it unique and just used it like anyone would! And if they’re really trying to show how rich they are why don’t they trash the bag like that and get another 😂
Or maybe shes being careful because she wants her bag to look good for a long period of time? By your logic you’re implying people shouldn’t ever buy nice things because it’s inevitable for something to never get dirty or scratched. Idk about you but most people dont find it stylish to wear run down things.
This made me laugh, shake my head and roll my eyes at the same time. Imagine spending that much on a bag and not wanting to deal with opening and closing it. 😂
I thought I was the only one that wear mines like that too, it’s convenient but that’s why I barely wear it especially because I don’t want ppl to be able to go in my bag
Have you ever seen the woman who created/designed these bags? And how she wears/uses them? She ABSOLUTELY DOESNT GIVE AF she uses them up, stuffs them full of stuff and always leaves it open. I honestly love it, she uses the bag the way she intended, to hold all of her things.
Jane was someone who understood they were simple bags, not museum pieces. They also didn't cost much at all. Jane Birkin made them cool, hence their name and so Hermès decided to sell them like they were rare diamonds. It's stupid, and a waste of money, the value of materials and manufacturing costs simply don't add up. So they're selling status. It's a cult. A silly materialistic one at that. You know someone is old money when they give no effs about the use of the bag, they let it get scuffed and used up. That said I do not judge collectors of the bags because they are sound investment pieces that will appreciate, safer than a lot of other investments. And if they enjoy them now and then more power to them.
I don't like them because the handles are too short. I like the story tho of how they came to be; Jane was getting on a plane with all her travel kit stuffed into straw bags, trying to stuff them into the upper compartment, everything emptied onto the floor, making her grab them. The head of Hermès design was sitting next to her and he had the bright idea to make the bag, which on first sight is basically a Kelly bag, with a double handle.

*rrcopys* bags are well made. Very comfortable on the shoulder. There are quite a lot of things that can be placed! wonderful! Love it so much I bought some as gifts, I got turquoise and brown!
The way I find using my Birkin bag to be more user friendly is being born into no income bracket close enough to be able to buy one. I’ve found that to really help with this particular issue.
My favorite bag is the one I thrifted for $1 2yrs ago. It's just a simple water-resistant cloth and I could stuff my things and even groceries in it. Sooo lightweight! 😊
I personally love when they look super lived in lmao, put everything you own in there without a care in the world. I mean, if you can afford a new Birkin, it feels right
I love how she’s instructing us on how we should properly wear our $30,000 Birkin bags as if any of us could ever afford one. 😂 If I had that much money, I certainly wouldn’t spend it on a bag.
For real! Even if I had the money, I just could not spend the amount of a car on a hand bag. That I'm gonna scratch, carry diapers and kids stuff in it. Just wow
I looked up the prices on this brand bag and saw one used on eBay for $190,000😄and one for $100,000. I think it's ridiculous that people would spend this kind of money on a bag. Even $20,000 is nuts.
I don’t leave the flaps loose like that, she was about to show how I do it, but it stopped short.. You can fasten them down with the center lock in the vertical position by overlapping them and turning the latch horizontally to keep them in place..it makes for a more finished look.
So, if I were a thief, you would be my first target. The bag screams money, and that person carrying it isn't too bright. You've made it even easier for a thief to reach in and take your stuff. Bravo!
I like the Birkin like the original designer used it. She used it daily, full of papers, books, and stuff, open and utilitarian. I'd wear the crap out of it, and use it for what it was made for, a busy woman with work to do!
Oh wow!🤩 This is one of the things on my bucket list-to get instructions from a lady in a turban on how to wear a birkin bag. This is after I get rich enough to afford a freaking birkin bag. 🤷🏻♀️

@@BiboyYobibNo person can physically work the hours to generate all of the profit required to be rich. Becoming rich requires exploiting other people's labour and natural resources, avoiding taxation and/or otherwise failing to redistribute wealth. It's repeatedly shown that people with lower incomes spend higher percentages of their disposable income in the general economy and on charity. Charity from the rich is often a form of tax avoidance or a way to exert influence and improve public image. Very few of the world's biggest philanthropists have ever lost billionaire status and none of them gained their wealth because their labour was actually worth billions. People who accumulate immense wealth simply cannot justify the exploitation that inherently removes wealth from circulation creating poverty. Wealthy people paying thousands extra to other wealthy people for added prestige in the context of mass deprivation deserve the same criticism whether it's bags, pets, jewellery, cars, houses...
Wowzers
HALLELUJAH ‼️
I ❤MY THRIFT STORE PURSES ALSO ‼️
I could fed how many hungry people with the price of that complicated bag.About 1,000 healthy meals 🤗
God yeah I can totally relate to this! Bloody fiddly them Burkins I threw my ones away in the end
Not all heroes wear capes.
Wow you just gave us the meaning of life
I know nothing about Birkin, but I know alot about Walmart, Target, and Macy's bags. I am the queen of those. 😂😂
Wow, thank you so much! Now I can go to bed peacefully at night.
😂😂
I personally love when they look super lived in lmao, put everything you own in there without a care in the world. I mean, if you can afford a new Birkin, it feels right
You cant wear a Birkin bag..
A BIRKIN WEARS YOU😌✨
You don't "wear" a bag; you hold a bag!!!!
Thank god, i can finally wear my birkin now!!!
This is a really cute bag . I want one
I love how she’s instructing us on how we should properly wear our $30,000 Birkin bags as if any of us could ever afford one. 😂
If I had that much money, I certainly wouldn’t spend it on a bag.
RIGHT? People in this world are starving. 🤦♀️
Totally agree with you
She’s showing how inconvenient it is to have one😂
I don’t leave the flaps loose like that, she was about to show how I do it, but it stopped short..
You can fasten them down with the center lock in the vertical position by overlapping them and turning the latch horizontally to keep them in place..it makes for a more finished look.
I just let my straps hang. Love that casual on the go look of it
I Thank God for this video. I have been so lost with how to carry my Birkjn every morning.
😂
Me too
I hope you were being sarcastic.
This woman must be a laughing stock walking about with this hideous shiny pink mess, and as for that ugly tight hat 😂
Life changing stuff how would the world go on without your wisdom
Monuments should be erected in her honor in every EU member states.
😂😂😂😂😂
This is a 1st world problem!🤣
Not me imagining this audio being used on TikTok for... Funnier things.
I just hate when this happens. I choose to leave my non existent birkin bag in my dreams in the million dollar home with the pool and house keeper.
Imagine paying so much money and importance to a commodity, that it ends up owning you.
@@1694cgrnt that sounds like a true line from Fight Club.
I am 54 and never “worn” a bag I normally just carry them! 😂😂
So, if I were a thief, you would be my first target. The bag screams money, and that person carrying it isn't too bright. You've made it even easier for a thief to reach in and take your stuff. Bravo!
Well that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about😂
I'm going to make it a point to avoid that Birkin Bag crap for the rest of my life.
You’ve changed my life. Thank you so much thank you lol
This gorgeous Lady is soo stunningly stylish 😍
Not with that horrible hat on she’s not, it makes her face look old and hard.
I like the Birkin like the original designer used it. She used it daily, full of papers, books, and stuff, open and utilitarian. I'd wear the crap out of it, and use it for what it was made for, a busy woman with work to do!
I don't wanna wear an expensive bag that i HAVE to worry about
Forget the bag you can live without it. Carry an ordinary simple bag it does the job!
Useless comment, its her money so she can make herself some treats by buying a luxury bag. What is the point of having money if you dont spend it
No way ..how r people gonna know she has Money then
Oh wow!🤩 This is one of the things on my bucket list-to get instructions from a lady in a turban on how to wear a birkin bag. This is after I get rich enough to afford a freaking birkin bag. 🤷🏻♀️
so many other less expensive bags are easier to get into and look much better
Realistically?
Realistically, it’s insane that anyone owns a bag that cost so much, when there are people in the world who are starving.
it's a really nice bag
but I'm living on Mac n cheese
it’s really not that deep
That's their money. They earned it. Most rich people I know actually helps the poor in other ways. Why don't you asks instead why are pets like dogs so pampered wherein there a lot of people in the world starving. I think it will be the same answer.
You can choke on the boot if you want to but don't act like we should all be eating leather when we could eat the rich.
@@perregrine No one is stopping you from making your own wealth. Quit trying to shame people with money just because you don't have the same amount. No one owes you anything...go earn your own wealth and find your own version of happiness.
I will never have this problem… 😂
What a gorgeous color!
The whole point behind me wanting a bag like this is so I know nobody can get in my bag. The most secure bag design I've ever seen
That's why I haven't bought one for myself. Lol!
Birkins are most fashionable, used, abused and distressed and over loaded. Check the history out
Birkins are the blue jeans of the purse world. Sine qua non of classic styling, but look best when authentically distressed and worn out.
@@polymathicaagreed. I remember mid 2000s when birkin copies hit the high street again. Honestly I remember thinking headache.
My mom would lose her mind hearing this...she yells at me all the time for not closing my bag because someone might steal or stuff will spill out
Looking like my grandma's bag from the 50's
the woman who was the inspiration behind Birkins literally just wanted a simple good-quality bag for everyday use. She used a wicker BASKET to carry stuff until she was given the prototype. I can’t understand how we devolved from that ideal to now trying to not actually use the outrageously priced plastic-feeling bags at all the way they were intended to be used bc they’re so expensive it’s not worth putting actual wear and tear on it.
You save the world madame! Thank you
Bags for me are tools and instruments made to make my life easier.... not to inconvenient me.😛
