    Thank you Larry for the info on Vandas. Your Pots are very interesting..TY for the idea.
    I love Vandas but mine always look like they are suffering, even though I too live in Hawaii. I always blame the fact that I don't have a greenhouse but hang them outside in a home made shade cloth area with misting irrigation and some Pele's hair to help keep the humidity higher on their roots. I thought my yellow leaves mean too much sun because everyone else's plants look perfect with green leaves...Now I know...TY

      Aloha Dar! I’m glad you enjoyed this video. I found his pots very interesting as well. Do you live here on Oahu? Larry has some beautiful vandas and I had the pleasure of seeing some of his other orchids on display at the recent Kunia Orchid Show. A couple of them were award winners! I’ll make sure to pass on your message the next time I see him. Mahalo for watching 🤙🏽

    This was excellent!👍🏼 I’m gonna make those pots and put some of my larger Vandas in them. Great idea.💡 I mix my own 3 in 1 pesticide. Orthene, Sevin, and Permatrol. It destroys all pest , insects and arachnis mites. I just started using it recently and testing it out. I only use it as spot spraying. I love that he said it’s best to fertilize the entire plant. I do the same as his program. Weekly is best! I do flush them out as he does. He validated so much of what I do. This video was such a feel-good educational workshop. Thank you for the post. My favorite so far of the talks. 💚 The sound was super clear. 👍🏼

I really enjoyed listening to him, thank you for that 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻 PS. Ordered from S&W, received my orchids today. Vanda luzonica from Philippines has a beautiful flowers Its flowers look similar to those of Vanda tricolor. The flowers are spaced loosely and are a bit waxy. The sepals and petals of this orchid are white with purple streaks and pink spots near the tips.

    This was so helpful😌🙏💖Thanks for recording this video! I apply fertilizer every watering once a week, but it's very mild and so far I have no problem, but the flushing I believe is very important because I experience black roots and that must be fertilizer root burn

    Thanks to Mr. Yamamoto, who has shared his knowledge about how to care for vanda orchids. Btw, is it better for vanda orchids to be grown without media or planted in pots with media?

    Thank you for sharing this with us. I learned a lot about vandas that I didn't know, and I currently own 2. We live in Kentucky so we have cold winters and the vandas don't do very well in our home. Maybe I can apply some of his routine to my flowers and that might help.

    Hi! Located on Oahu and slowly getting into orchids. I’ve killed a few orchids that were gifted to me years ago😢. I’m willing to try again. Will you be going to the bloom festival this weekend?

    • @tanyaferr
      @tanyaferr Год назад +2

      I’ve killed hundreds of orchids - kept telling myself that I should stop(buying). But I seem to fall back into looking at them again. Now I tell myself that those plants taught me something so it’s ok - they were my experimental plants and I know better how to keep them now. I used to also keep the tags of all the ones I lost - but it got to the point that it was filling a my 5 inch pot. So no feel bad about losing a few along the way.

      Aloha! Oh I can totally relate. I lost a lot in the beginning and it’s very discouraging. I honestly considered giving up but I’m so happy that I stuck with it. I’ve on,y been collecting for about 4 years so I’m still learning and I still lose plants from time to time but when I get one to rebloom, the joy it brings me is PRICELESS 💕Have you considered joining one of the orchid clubs? It’s definitely a great way to learn and get to meet other orchid growers. I do plan on attending the Bloom Festival. Mahalo for watching 🤙🏼

      @@orchidsinparadise2438 I have so much to learn so I look forward to your videos. I will look into the orchid groups. I repotted some orchids last night because I had an instinct the roots weren’t good. I cut back the old roots and repotted in orchid mix with extra perlite. Since the wounds are fresh, do you suggest I wait 2-3 days before watering?

    • @orchidsinparadise2438
      @orchidsinparadise2438  Год назад

      @@abotanicalmess I’m still learning as well but yes to be on the safe side you can wait a day or two. Did you put some cinnamon on the wound? Cinnamon is known to inhibit the growth of bacteria.
