I think there’s a simple theory to this: the old man walked up those mysterious sets of stairs and they disappeared with him on them, having probably tied his cane up to the tree himself when he got to the top, assuming he just wanted to sit down and take in the view.
I've read part 2 of the story, in which the author mentions that one of the rookie officer despite warning not to climb the stairs went up. He was nearly pulled 'up' by mysterious being but was timely saved by the narrator who pulled him down. These leaders are like portal to another world which brings down crypts, such as that faceless man.

Its like he knew what awaits him in the forest but he kept secrets from his wife to avoid the heartbreak. The scariest part probably is how similar this is to an article about a Tree Man called Dede. And the cause of the condition is spread by physical contact.
The Search and Rescue Officer creepypasta is one the all time classics. The Blurry Man, Stairs, etc are all great. The hardest story in the compilation had to be the grandparents that tripped and crushed the baby, still have to skip that whenever I listen to the story again.
can you tell me about the last one that you dont wanna listen to again? i dont get it why would a grandparent that is very careful in their old age trip and crush a baby, what was the baby doing in the forest in the first place it should just stay at home, except if they're kids old enough i think they're fine with going on a forest
The old man became the tree, that was why his cane was found high and looped around a branch, and why the dogs quickly lost the scent after going too far from the base of the tree.
If I know old timers, that old feller probably went to the top of the starcase, hung his cane on the branch next to them and decided to just chill there for a while
I just saw the light flashes at the beginning, and I gotta say, you HAVE to make a Gurren Lagann esque animation, and put those light flashes over an eyecatcher

Then they run up only to realize they are stuck. One of them trips while both are running to hide. then audible bone snapping is heard while the other teenager hides behind a pile of cinderblocks. Then he is able to escape by climbing up a ladder almost getting caught. And when he gets out its very dark. But then he sees his friend infront of him. Hes mangled and twisted but still standing. The friend rushes torwards him and it ends. (yeah i kinda think it should be set in the early stages of the "copycat" SFM you made)
