- Loads of people have asked me for this, so here it is, a comparison of the chorus pedals that I happen to have at the moment.
- Cornish Super Chorus
- Boss CE-2
- Free the Tone Tri Avatar
- Way Huge Penny Saver Royale (Blue Rhino)
- Fulltone That 80's Rack Chorus.
Whats your favourite?
They all sound great! Great video. Loved the comparisons!
I own the F.T.T. Tri Avatar and it is absolutely incredible. I also own the Boss DC-2W. I am a huge-Chorus fan. I have played in both: Rush & Police cover-bands, so Chorus (and Flanger) are vital to achieving those sounds. Nice Demo. Enjoyed it. oNe LovE from NYC
The Fulltone sounds amazing, the FTT got decently close but that TREC is special! Great video as always my friend!
Love all of your videos - keep it up! Nice Blue Chip TD 35 flex too haha
Yet another quality video from thelongdongguitarist!
Quality video and playing as always!
Realy thank you. Now Im about 300Eur lighter thanks to your review and final winner :D. You are doing good job ;). D.
Excellent! I think I like the Boss the best even though the Tri-Chorus is super cool
TERC is it’s in own league, like the EchoFix for Tape Delay.
But for the pedals only :
100% Free the Tone !
But if you’re running Stereo… 1000% Free the Tone for sure !
Agree 100%
Cornish for me. All his pedals have a great buffer too. Nice demo. 🙂 Best.
Woah that depth on the FTT and Cornish! Very Close to the TERC. They all sound fantastic as well. I don’t think one can go wrong with any. It comes down to a matter of taste
The Cornish and the CE-2 sound pretty darn close to each other. I think the difference is probably the volume control on the Cornish.
I liked those two. But, I really liked that Fulltone rack mount. Man would be killer to get that into a pedal format!
Great video!! I would suggest you to try the Mr Black double chorus if you have the chance. It really is a thing on its own.
Free The tone/TERC sound the best with either being totally awesome.
I go with the FTT on my board because I get a great Dyno My Piano sound without paying a grand or 5 to get it.
The others sound great for mono use but lack the extra movement that the FTT/TERC give.
The lower depth of modulation on the FTT as compared to TERC isn't an issue for me, I use it far less overtly in my own music and I don' t play in cover bands so it's perfect for me.
I also run it W/D(/W) at 100% in a parallel config to the delays and other effects so I can blend it to taste on it's own.
That said the TERC is a monster and for studio use it is the clear winner for a modern bit of kit.
They all sound great. The Fulltone and Free The Tone are for sure the standouts to me, but they need to be stereo for their full potential. (They're great in mono too, but you know what I mean)
I almost bought the Tri-Avatar because Free the tone make good shit, but got a Walrus Audio Julia instead since the lowest mix on the Tri Avatar is 50% and prefer it more subtle most of the time.
I agree with your conclusion
Both Cornish pedals sounded best to me except on rotary Leslie like sounds where the Fulltone sounded best.
Of course the Fulltone TERC won, it's three BBD chips of 100% analog 80s chorus goodness. Right up there with the Roland Dimension D and TC 1210 as the best choruses ever made, you really need a true stereo analog chorus. The Free the Tone came close but it's not quite there and all the others just sound like mud.
Cool Socks!
This needs the Providence ADC-4.
But I vote:
1.- TERC
2.- Tri Avatar
3.- CE-2
4.- Super Chorus.
Free The Tone 👍👍👍
Insane how the cornish is basically impossible to buy costs 3-4 grand if you find one used and the ce-2 still stands head to toe with it. Not knocking cornish i have an ss3 grey box that i love
Absolutely! The Cornish takes the CE-2 and makes it a super pristine “LA Session” type chorus. The CE-2 on its own though is just a classic, and that warmth is unmistakeable.
@@TheLondonGuitarist dont get me wrong i am just seething lol. But that fulltone terc is just magical i’d even goes far to say it sounds better than a roland dimension D.
Also, I feel obligated to say that Way Huge wins
The fulltone sounds the best but not worth 4000 dollars
If only fulltone made a pedal version
Get the full tone Choral flange
The FTT is so close it's not even worth quibling about, if you want a TERC on the floor it is the way to get it.
