    That is one efficient airplane. 9009 miles traveled with no refueling. Quite a milestone for aviation.

    • @twoflyinghats
      @twoflyinghats Год назад +1

      Yes, but DUH... It's about travel from England to Australia. Since both have used the metric system for yonx and the idiotically backward United States, Liberia and Myanmar are the only countries in the world that don't, it's 14,498.6 kilometres. Note the spelling of the word, too, which the US is too stubbornly obnoxious to use. 🙄

    At first I thought, "What a ridiculous idea for a video". But it's really fantastic to see a full half of our beautiful earth go by on ONE FLIGHT. Incredible. Our Boeing folks make one beautiful, whisper-quiet aircraft.

    That was almost the full distance to the Southern Oracle. No need to fly on the back of a luck dragon this time but instead on this wonderful Boeing 787-9. Hats off to you Noel for putting this incredible video together. From the exhilarating thrust of take off, the fascinating airshow maps, the relaxation of the night time white noise (in sleepy chunks), appreciating the vastness of the Indian Ocean and of course descent, approach and landing, I am glad I finally took the time to enjoy every minute of these 17 plus hours. Experiencing this is the next best thing especially in these restricting times for travel and now I feel inspired to try this journey for myself one day. Thank you!

    This is brilliant. I watched this start to finish. I've travelled so many long haul flights and the sound of jet engines is so soothing, thanks for posting this. I always stop in Singapore or Dubai (prefer Singapore) when I'm doing UK - Aus, I think I'd miss the stopover, but this flight looks amazing.

    That is so cool that you got to stand on the tarmac next to your airplane before your flight! I wish I could do that on every flight I ever go on just because I think the planes are amazing to look at, especially up close like that! Also, the 787 is just a gorgeous aircraft I must say! I think the 737 is the best looking Boeing airliner personally, but the 787 and the 777 are both right there in terms of aesthetics! Great video man!

    • @noelphilips
      @noelphilips  6 лет назад +1

      Yes I agree it was a fantastic surprise when they asked me if I wanted to go outside to film, I'd mentioned to the staff that it was a shame you couldn't really see the livery from the gate and they came up to me a few minutes later to say they'd arranged a ramp tour! It's a beautiful aircraft :)

    Finished the video!! It only took me a week!! What a lovely welcome you had to Australia and what a nice man you are. You’re so polite!! The captain was such a sweetheart. I’m terrified of flying so have so much respect for these guys.
    I love going to New Zealand and thought about this route instead of via Asia or America. Trouble is I am a bit concerned about flying so far out of radio contact for so long in all that ocean! I know flying from Akl-lax you cross miles of the Pacific but there are little islands on the way! I’m just paranoid I guess lol

    How do you do that? I fly Brazil US route a lot and would love to record on of those. Do you put a GoPro on usb plug to the seat? But which card do you use that can record 18 hours? Or do you stop to change cards / battery? I didn’t see a jump cut in the video.. and how did you record the tower? And the external take off landing??? Sorry so many technical questions.
