Lovely clear video G. Excellent quality. Looking forward to travelling on Transport for Wales tomorrow to Barmouth. Never had a bad journey with them. Xx
Bucknall is the same, southbound services are request stop and northbound services are not, due to the level crossing next door to the station, Great Vlog G and the the route that this station is a awesome route and enjoyable.
Many of the Heart of Wales line stations are request stops only in one direction and not in the other due to the presence of level crossings; where the level crossing is before the station, the train triggers a mechanism to close the level crossing barriers. In the other direction, the mechanism to close the barriers is on the platform itself, thus the need to stop to trigger this mechanism
This video was such a nice surprise as it's the exact journey I'll be taking towards the end of the month, except a much shorter Heart of Wales section as I get off only after a few stations ^.^ It's a journey I take a lot to visit family so I'm all too familiar with the Shrewsbury change over and the occasional dash to platform 3. I love seeing you experience it and your appreciation of the Heart of Wales line!
I have travelled hundreds of thousands of miles by road as driver and passenger but I still get way more excited by a train journey. On a heritage rail line I just dissolve with delight.
Brilliant video G, I've noticed the prices of the meal deals at Sainsbury's have gone up. Lol Shoesbury, I find it's weird how you've got to go out of the barriers to reach one of the platforms there. I've never been to this location before, it does look nice, shame about the rain though.
Ammanford station def looks like a lovely station & the area looks like a lovely area to visit & the park looks amazing & Wales is a lovely Country brilliant vlog
Shewsbury: A typical prununciation fault, hillarious! Just for the record: If you would take a trip in the Netherlands, I should be able to help you out as I'm native dutch and I'm quite familiar with the Dutch railway network.
Another great video G! Hearing "Croeso ar dren trafnidiaeth Cymru" (is that it?) and knowing that Wales will shortly be arriving out the window is always just a bit of a thrill. I was thinking those 153s were normally run as singles, but apparently they've started coupling them in doubles now as part of "Active Transport"? The 153s were derived from 2-coach 155s that were split into singles near the start of their service. And now, most likely nearing the last few years of their service, the 153s are being recoupled with their siblings again 🚋🚋
Love the check back to the sign while you’re singing to see the Welsh name for the station! And you have the best umbrella. If I had one, I’d be going everywhere with it! ❓☂️🤩
Lovely green park. Must be all that Welsh rain. Usual inspiring & spirit-lifting video, thanks ! You could have been insulting most of us with all those Welsh words
Great to see these places that you don't even know exist! The generator did you a solid there, super interesting spot off the beaten track ! Super video again!
Really nice videos some of which the stations you have visited are familiar keep up the good work. I just wanted to as I have always used a paper ticket which are best paper or Mobile ?
lovely video G one of the stations ive ticked off ..i have only 1 left to dao sadly thel evel of service is being reduced i think form the December timetable or it maybe before then..i can see them shutting the line if im honest in the future ..
@@GLovesTrains Its a Request stop Llangynllo..i have a plan to get off there then walk to Llanbister road..(which ive already done) and get the return train that has come up from Swansea back into Shrewsbury
I really need to visit Wales one day - every time you've been there, it looks like it has such pretty scenery. No tea and biccies at Shrewsbury? Scandalous! 😂
If memory serves me right some of those request stops have a level crossing that require the use of a plunger on the platform hence they may as well officially stop.
Really like this part of your channel (when you go to random stations) What has been your longest journey doing the random station thing -- keep up the great work 🚞
Good morning G another great vlog keep up the good work. Been through Shrewsbury train station many times and always confused that you have to exit the station and re-enter to get to different platforms? The park looks great for a walk 😊
I noticed that your first train went to Carmarthen (just a hop and a skip from Ammanford) and wondered how long the journey would've taken if you'd stayed on it and changed at Swansea? btw I love the Welsh language but your song did sound like it was the English version but backwards :)
Dolau is the same as Ammanford, northbound its a regular stop yet southbound its a request stop. Potentially an unpopular opinion... I thought the Cambrian Coast line was more scenic than the Heart of Wales line. Great video though.
Awesome video G! just one thing before this comment ends, I just want to ask if you would ever want to go back to Grange-over-Sands for this is where is reside and I would like you to do another review of the seaside town

Walk the Heart of Wales line… totally recommend it
Had flashbacks at shrewsbury 😂
The stress is on the Am, it’s usually more like AM-un-fud, not that I’ve been there but I am originally from South (East) Wales.
Correct
Great scenery , flowing water and the knicker song in Welsh. My day is complete. Thank you.
Great to hear!

I adore how you learnt your knicker song in Welsh for when you visit Welsh stations 🥹
Thanks haha!

Yay! The Welsh knickers song returns for one day only :)

I agree! There's just something about a train journey that no other mode of transport can match.
