    The real truth is utube is a hostile environment.
    People feel entitled to shoot off their mouth because they have a god like complex and are insulated from the reality of confrontation because they are behind their keyboard.
    Any REAL truck driver-o/o would know through experience why trucks operate the way they do.
    Most guys out there wouldn’t know how to spec a unit out for the job it’s required for.
    It’s the rookies that flap their gums like little dogs. They want to be noticed.
    I learned so dam much from my uncle at the age of 9 years old back in 77. I listened and learned and loved every moment!

    You're absolutely correct,The heavy haul company that moves our 850D John Deere excavator, is 160K&change , empty 80K change, gross 240&change ,92 tires. The steerers are flotation tires wich are wide in which cause more resistance. It's got a 575 kitty, . Mind you with that kind of weight,horse power & tourqe you can start messing stuff up like heat up your rear ends .

    I have to explain this same thing to someone every other week. Some drivers seem to live in a bubble.
    I pull a set of double pneumatics mostly around MT and ID grossing 132k(MT)/129k(ID). My truck is pretty similar spec to some of yours. W900L, 550hp Cat, 18 spd, 3.55 rears. Unloading can take 1 - 2½ hours running the PTO/blower. Depending on the route and wind I average 4 - 4.8 mpg.
    I hear the same shit from some guys about what I need to be doing and what kind of mileage I should be getting blah blah.. some guys just have no clue of how other niches of trucking work, and they seem to think their personal experience applies to every situation

    Justin , I could spend a while showing u . Fuel weighs 6 lbs to gallon ;horse power production is roughly .5 or 1/2 lb per horse power per hour . Multiply this with max power required gives a factual number . Flat roads are different than hills . Tire size , gear ratio , trans gearing . Rpm . It’s a big formula . As a mechanical engineer this is where I start for power production and transfer of power . My first question always is , what are u going to do with it . Most of the Claims of 12 mpg are just that claims . Maybe loads are on loco flat bed . Any way the numbers don’t lie people do !

Man I get way better fuel mileage cutting my lawn now!) One gets great fuel mileage on flat land with little wind and hauling light loads ! End of discussion!;

I just purchased my 1st Rig and I passed on a 2011 KW T800, It had two oil leaks and it was Derating. ( It made Peak HP but when it got warm, the HP Number Dropped ) So, learn doing a pre-inspection at the motor Manufacturer is a good system, I was wondering do you do the same? Or because you have a shop, you can afford a hiccup or two?

    To me It’s like a 389 but with a 579 interior and has the newer dashboard and one full windshield rather having the split in the middle. I’m also sure it’s an emissions truck so there’s that.

    I really enjoy your videos to start off, but I feel that you are misinformed on some of your points. It all comes down to specs. These newer trucks can be just as powerful as the older ones. The wheel base, engine, rears, etc can be just the same as anything else. As far as APU’s, they weigh on average around 400 pounds which they will come with for lack of better words, permit that will have the exact weight of the unit. A DOT officer “should” give you that weight exemption depending what state you are in. There is no doubt that you will save money and wear n tear on your engine with an APU. You hit the nail on the head that you pulling so heavy is going to cost you fuel as well as using the PTO. As far as not being able to use an automated transmission for your weight, do yourself a favor and test drive the DT 12 from freightliner or the paccar automated transmission. I think that you will be surprised. Enough of my rambling. Thanks for the content.

      @@flintcreektransport now the early Eaton Autos were an absolute nightmare! You were either not moving or going a buck 20!! There is no in between. After dealing with that I was extremely hesitant trying out the DT12 or Volvo Ishift. I gotta say that I was impressed by both. I’m old school like you tho. There is nothing like being able to split that half gear on a 13 or 18 speed. If I were in your position owning a fleet I’d definitely go with automated because I new driver 9 times out of 10 isn’t going to respect your equipment/investment. It’s hard to find seasoned drivers anymore. Anyway, I enjoyed this conversation. Wish you nothing but the best!! Oh n btw, you are a smart man buying these gliders up! Is it just me or does this dude remind anyone else of a younger former president Obama ?? Fuel mileage depends on the application .......short haul or long haul , on or off road ,van or tanker , belt trailer or hopper bottom etc. Also if you run trailers that require p.t.o. operation , it'll drag down fuel mileage. Anytime you do off road work , fuel mileage suffers...... That's the bottom line. good job on your videos
