One of the best things about Summoner Wars 2e is how much they've opened up the combo space between units. In 1st edition it felt like some units combo'd with other units but usually in one specific way. In 2nd edition I feel like a lot of units cross-combo with each other, which gives you more options and ways to surprise your opponent without losing the simplicity that made Summoner Wars so good to begin with. To put it another way, every faction in Summoner Wars 2e feels like they have deeper combo options on par with the best factions in 1st ed.
A major reason for Heist on the Bandit is so Vlox can copy it - charge in to hit the enemy summoner - then warp out with magic to boot. The same applies to Sin Sin for summoner damage.
Gotten both of these in the past couple of weeks, but have yet to play with them. Hoping to get some plays of this fun game in this weekend. Can’t wait to try these factions.
The quality of the artwork is definitely better than the original, but why did they have to go with this cartoon/comic book style? I would have preferred a more adult and mature style, more similar to the theme in the original cards.
Hard agree, I really don't get why they opted to go that route.. it's not like the target audience is little kids, with this being kind of a highly tactical game, so don't get the disney-esque, at times almost comical art. What makes it even worse is that the game is excellent, so I have no reason not to play this over other games, bar this little issue :D.
Are these overpowered though? They seem overpowered. I hope this doesn't become a thing, new factions making the originals no fun, power creep can be such a hassle.
As one of the playtesters I can assure you that, although strong, they can be beaten by any faction. Vlox lacks raw power in his commons while Ava's units are expensive (not to mention that her 10hp disappears quickly) Ironically the Vanguards are a decent faction to take them down due to all the HP on the units and the fact that Guardian Knights have incredible abilities for countering them (Engage/Protect)
I don't really get what could make you think any of these are more "overpowered" than Breakers from the core set, for example :D. All factions have some pretty busted stuff they can do, I feel.
you don't need to DB i love the game and i don't db or plan to, the game is designed to be 100% playable without DB, DB is just optional icing for the cake.

I love summoner wars second edition, is such a clean and compelling game. We already have 10 playable factions, so I think it's time for a top10 :D!!
Hard agree!
Tierlist noooo

Such an underrated gem of 1v1 card game. Wish more people know about and play this game.
I have to absolutely agree Tom, this game is phenomenal! I hope they reissue all the tribes from the 1st Edition!
Anything Summoner Wars is worth buying. Love everything about the game!
I pre-ordered mine from my FLGS all the way back in February and I have been anticipating for it to arrive since then.

I hate that Summoner Wars has deck building.

@@Waterd103 Yeah I never messed with the deck building with the original and I had a great time.
