I've seen some extremely good guitarist before (really good guitarist), but if I'm being honest (I know that it's really a subjective thing), I truly don't believe that this man has an equal. I believe that this man has a skill set that is absolute perfection. My word Mr. Joscho Stephan, I truly believe that you are absolutely on Another Level sir. Be well.
Im a huge Hendrix listener, I enjoy his music and not many players can give me chills like he does, but this cover is simply brilliant. I enjoyed it so much. Amazing!
One of the best versions of hey joe I've listened to. I think it may be just me, but that swing beat, takes it out of the park. This guy is the proof that mind control over what you wanna attract is possible. I'm grateful that this guy is alive and doing what he does best :). For the people who thumbed down, lots of love and listen again.
@usmc1875 there are a lot of great things I could say about workmanship, craft, art, and talent here, but there is no "mind control over what you want to attract". Honestly it's practice, practice practice! "Look here brother Who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris?"
Playing guitar myself, and being a HUGE Jimi Hendrix fan....,... I've gotta say, that is sum impressive stuff!!! And hats off to that guy playing the bass!!! Very well done boys!!! BRAVO!!

It's hard to describe just how happy this music leaves me - such deep gratitude, such beautiful virtuosity...if we humans are capable of this, not all is lost!
Every so often, I come across something that after 21yrs of playing rock and metal I see something that makes me think I've wasted my entire life. Incredible. Astonishing, even. I was on baited breath for the next note the whole time.
you didnt waste anything simply cause rock and metal are awesome like gypsy swing is,and more important, next to you is your guitar.start by learning this amazing cover...
If you are right, then I've wasted 55 years of my life even though I like the things that I can play. Joscho Stephan is a world class guitarist, in the same league as Tommy Emmanual. Even if I chose to play this style, that doesn't mean I would have been successful. But I certainly find Stephans' playing to be amazing and entertaining.
L'adaptation la plus inventive que je connaisse de la célèbre chanson. Et qui reste en même temps fidèle à l'esprit de l'original. Reprise exceptionnelle.
A departure for sure but what a departure it was! I first heard the original in December 1966 and that song stills gives me chills. Hendrix's solo was an utter revelation that still inspires to this day. Thanks for keeping Jimi's music alive as it deserves to still be heard by a new younger generation.
I first saw Hendrix on TV on Top of the Pops in the UK with a group of friends - and we all went "Jesus! What the F*CK was that!" and were completely blown away. I saw him live in late 1967. By the way, the song was supposedly written by Billy Roberts in 1965, and the first recorded version was by the Leaves in 1965. ruclips.net/video/PCZNFPaz1iw/видео.html&ab_channel=JeanPierre However there is a lot of controversy about the song's origins - see wikipedia.
With all my respect to Hendrix, this is quite different and creative rendition. Hats off. Update: Always somebody likes my comment I play the video, just to find out why I liked it. My mouth always keeps open for the entire video again.
Seeing a pentatonic lick show up in a Joscho performance is like seeing the math they taught you in elementary show up on some astrophysicist's chalkboard as part of an equation outlining the meaning of the universe. "They always TOLD me it would be practical when I grew up!"
Mason Stanford there's plenty of pentatonic licks here. People act like it's some freaking faux pas to play within a pentatonic scale from time to time. What was it Chet Atkins said about pentatonic scales?

Say what you will, He's brilliant! Not only his voicing of the what should be known as the most famous bass/guitar line in rock and roll history, but his whole attitude, everything about his relationship with his guitar. Wow!
I'll be 70 late this year, I saw Hendrix live twice. I wander if Joscho ever had a chace heard Jimmy live. I'm Sure Jimmy would like his sound and feel good to hear it.
Incroyable dynamisme du jeu. Je suis un guitariste qui à force sait pas mal de trucs, mais comment les aligner avec autant d'inventivité, de naturel, que les grands guitaristes, c'est la question.
You can learn any style you want. Just takes lots of practice. And I mean lots. Learn all the techniques you can, and get good. 😎 Keep playing. And you got this
Like Jesus, there are extremely rare people who walk this world of ours and it's our job to make sure they are safe to travel and share their gifts with us. Joscho is such a man. Let's make sure he's with us a very long time. Thanks Joscho.

wow it is extremely rare that a remake is better than the original, in that case even Hendricks will love and appreciates your version , Bravo Mr Stephan
Monstrous performance! Monstrous solo during 4 minutes! And what a rythm! Besides, I feel that he could go even faster tempo! It's a so big pleasure to listen to musicians like that! Thank you!!!
Lets not forget the bassist who laid it down with style and that rythym guitar did not err on even one note for the whole performance. They being the egg n' chips, with the soloist being the salt n' pepper n' pepper. An all round cosmic event.
What a fascinating take on Hey Joe done in the old Hot Jazz style. I was waiting for Stephan Grapelli to come on with his fiddle at any moment. Wonderful!

I love Joscho's playing. Most electric guitarists would cover this with sustain and amp drive, but to listen to it played like this,on a guitar where the notes decay relatively quickly, and you are left with the spaces in between the notes, makes you want to trash your Les Pauls and Strats and go and buy a Gypsy Jazz Guitar instead.Superb.
C'est bien quand ça va vite, mais c'est mieux quand c'est beau. Et là, on est vernis car a les deux ! Les quatre même, avec la contrebasse et la pompe, véritables métronomes. Un régal absolu !

You see a lot of talented performances on RUclips, but this one is genuinely astonishing

„No guess work here“ - that’s really well said! I feel that; I‘m always happy when I hit a right note when playing over 90 bpm 😂
@blackberryblossom you and me both 😆
