The really cheap ones are awful quality and can damage bones and cause you to not be able to breath.. It is much better to wear sports bras rather than bind with something that can leave you with lasting damage
If you live in a city there's LGBT places that offer stuff like binders for free.

I think it's really sad that people in the trans community feels they have to have some kind of self defence and fear attack - anyone who would even consider attacking someone based in their gender should be ashamed of themselves - I'm a Christian and many of my friends are Christian and while I'm not really that informed on LGBTQ issues I think people should be allowed to be happy and safe and be in safe consensual relationships with whomever they choose, as well as whatever gender they identify as.
Emily Yates don't worry about the whole christian stereotype of being against lgbt+, by the way. I just felt like it might be helpful for you to know that most people who are super against us are evangelical Christians. And even then, there are exceptions. People who are atheists hate us too for some reason. And we'll get there some day

Fyi you can carry a rock as a weapon, if asked why u have it you can say "it looks cool" or "for science class" or "you collect rocks" and if you're attacked you can do some damage.
I carried a rock in my bag covered in fake blood because I forgot to take it out after Halloween for ages but I almost did end up fighting someone with it when they attacked my trans/genderfluid friend

Last week an broke out between some jerk at my school and one of my close friends. He mentioned something before it got physical about "if you were a boy I'd punch you right now", not knowing that I'm trans. I'm genuinely terrified as to what would have happened if he knew I was trans.

My personal list of things that are always somewhere in my backpack:
Paracetemol or some other painkiller because I get a lot of headaches and stomach aches
Pads or some other product for sharkweek
An extra pair of underpants
A sports bra or a binder (because I'm always wearing one of them, the other is in my bag)
A pen
A little pride item to remind me what I'm doing it all for
A hoodie or flannel when I suddenly get hit by dysphoria. If my backpack is too full, I'll usually put it in my locker or tie it around my waist.
I would also add just a sports bra in case your binder starts hurting as you don't want to be in pain all day
My pronouns are he/him/his but i never came out to my school so they still freaking call me she/her it annoys me so much 😓

I'm not trans, but the Simple face wipes are my favorite. I think the Yes to Tomato also has wipes with black african soap and that's supposed to be really good for acne.

I'll try not to! Most of my friends are going to that one though so at least we'll all be in the same boat and be able to support each other.
I'm in a catholic school and after I came out as trans, literally nobody out of the hundreds of students there had a problem with it. Keep your hopes up man :)
There are two Catholic schools near me and basically no one there is actually Catholic. I went to a public day school and no one really cared about LGBT stuff there either. stay safe dude

TIP: If you need a binder for athletic things, I would suggest using what Ty listed OR you can use an Underworks Swim Binder. It's not only awesome for swimming but you can play sports in it too and it's not too restricting for breathing. A regular binder will restrict breathing when running around too much

@@suga_latte9306 one thing that can help is look at Disney's cartoon characters (for example, the dogs from Lady and the Tramp) and see what features are emphasized that make you go "this one is probably a girl" or "this one's a guy." See if you can apply those features to yourself to seem more masculine or feminine, whichever you are going for.

I'm out to everyone at my school and they keep saying I'm copying the only other trans guy there... they all say he's strong and cool but I get bullied constantly and have 2 real friends... I'm not that mad but I'm not copying him, it just seems that way cuz I dyed my hair... damn teenagers... damn hellhole...
I met a guy at a tour and he was really sweet and he was shirtless and I noticed he had top surgery, meaning he's trans and it didn't bother me. Idk it was like love at first sight, he was super nice and I held his hand for like 3 seconds... I can't stop thinking about him and idk i needed to let this out to someone

In my country pepperspray is an illegal weapon. Knives over 5 cm is illegal to carry on you. And we really don't have very many troubles with weapons or school shootings or anything. It amaze me how the culture is different on that matter. I'm from Denmark and of course some carry illegal weapons but not many i don't think i've ever known a person that carries a knife or a pepperspray with them anywhere. It's funny :P Besides the "take something to defend yourself with" tip. It was some good tips dude! Keep on making videos and stuff like this is always great! Haha, I'm an FTM high school teacher and this list totally applies to me too. I also recommend keeping some extra deodorant on you, especially if you are just starting t because you will sweat a lot more.

Staying with a few close buddies when you're in those "places" you could get jumped too. Not always easy, with everyone's class schedules, etc. But it might help. A good alternative to pepper spray is hairspray. It isn't /as effective/ but it still hurts like a bitch when it gets in your eyes. And most stores have little travel sized ones that you can keep on you.

I don't bind at all because 1) I am broke af, and 2) the one I made thats actually comfortable is hard to put on. I just use a black faux leather jacket so it hides my chest. Not only that, but I feel it gives me punk cred

that bring extra underwear tip would have been really helpful for when I went to the gay bar with my fiancé and my stp malfunctioned. I felt so bad because I had to cut our night short but Thx for the tips.
As far as extra clothing, I don't have an STP yet so I don't bring extra underwear, but I do bring an extra shirt just in case you don't catch your deodorant wearing off or you end up with sweat stains
