CHIMNEY ABOUT TO COLLAPSE - WHY WOULD SOMEONE DO THIS?

Arrived at the job this morning in Leeds to find this chimney ready to collapse. It's lucky there's no tenants in this property at the moment.
Why would someone do this?

Be easier just to take it down. Guess it has to stay because of "planners"

The real skill was taking out the chimney breast and balancing a ton of bricks on a wooden peg.you can't believe it has fell through the house.nothing but the weight and luck holding it in place.

I let my young daughters paint them, it's something they enjoy doing and it's quality father daughter time together.
