One of the first viral internet videos was the Afro Ninja. It features a man catastrophically failing a backflip and completing busting his face on the floor. One might think the man in the video was just some random shmuck attempting a challenging stunt a failing miserably, but he was actually a professional. Today I tell you all the story of the Afro Ninja, how this clip exploded online, and what happened to the Afro Ninja after he went viral.

@Death to Communism I dunno. The audition was for a Nike ad starring mostly black men. Here the other “auditions” are labeled as part of a parody to promote a _Tekken_ videogame.
I n a lot of cases I would agree but this was hilarious.
It's just difficult to sit on a video so hilarious. We are not feeding some need to see him fail. It's just hilarious how he tried to finish the bit while half unconscious. Relax.
This part. People will say its "just funny" but what are they laughing at? The fail. The fact that he didn't complete it, hurt himself, and embarrassed himself. The cringe of the failure. Thats the joke.
To his credit, Afro-Ninja did define the golden age of the internet. To most people that flop makes us nostalgic of the past. That is something he should be at most proud.

Does anyone remember around the time the afroninja video was peaking (I think it was maybe a year or two after) in popularity there was a Brisk Tea commercial that had an animated segment that was inspired by the afroninja video. I tried finding it on RUclips and I can't. There has to be someone in their late 20s that remembers this commercial.. or maybe it was from something else. It may have been stop motion.

Remember Daxflame? He became "famous" as a kid in RUclips back in 2007 for his cringy diaries videos, that resurfaced some time ago thanks to "Superman is coming to school" meme. People still debate if he was just a really good actor or it was legit. He's now a writer I think and still active on YT, so it could be an interesting topic for video.

I was referring more to it being better in that there was less corporate involvement, no commercial junk content, no political and ideological interference, and almost no censorship.
Tbf, no one ever really knows the stuntmen or remembers them. In that sense, this guy has gotten more notoriety than most stuntmen.
Even watching just the fail video you can tell he isn’t just some regular guy - he almost makes the full backflip. An average person wouldn’t even come close.

Their marketing director is either a genius or an idiot. Still can't figure out which.
But I agree. Being in marketing myself, I would really like to see their marketing metrics, especially their ROAS (Return On Ad Spend).
They're definitely taking a risky, aggressive approach. I'd say they've reached the saturation point, meaning their ads are producing diminishing returns. And their ad campaign is seriously at risk of having the opposite effect, of just pissing people off when they see them.
Great video as always and I think that everyone can agree that sponsors aren't so bad if that's what keeps the channel going :D
