Great review! What do you think of the "Rugged Armor" case from Spigen? Supposedly military grade with a matte finish, side pattern for gripping and not as bulky as the Tough Armor product? Protects the camera visor too.
Thanks for the really great video. In case it helps anyone, here are the timestamps, and weight and camera visor protection info: 0:15 - Official Google Silicone Case (28g) 1:52 - Bellroy Leather Case (22g) 3:22 - Mous Magsafe Case (24g) 5:15 - Caseology Nano Pop (36g) (visor protection) 6:50 - Spigen Thin Fit Case (26g) (visor protection) 8:20 - Humixx MagSafe Case (40g) (visor semi-protection) 9:48 - Caseology Capella (32g) (visor protection) 11:04 - Caseology Athlete Case (40g) (visor protection) 12:33 - Cyrill Ultracolor (32g) (visor semi-protection) 13:50 - Tudia MagSafe Case (48g) (visor semi-protection)
The problem with the official Google case is that it leaves your camera visor exposed and that’s a problem since that visor is very prone to micro scratches. The camera lenses themselves are fine, but the visor itself scratches easily.
You can try adding a plastic screen protector on that back visor area. I did that on mine and it stays in there just fine (it covers the area, not the camera lenses). I don't have the case yet, should arrive in a couple of days.
I'm using Ringke Onyx case. It also has visor protection. Ringke also has lens protector that fits nicely with their cases. The textured back make the phone more grippy. Been using this case since Pixel 7 and its the only case for me
The official case is not meant to be a drop protection case. It's slim and more meant for folks with desk jobs that don't drop phones often. Some people prefer cases like the Spigen Thin Fit, Mous Thin Casdle, and the official case since they offer protection for scratches and minor impacts because it's slimmer and easier to hold.
I use a carbon case. It applies zero and doesn't make the pixel unnecessarily heavier. I use a protective glass for screen protection. I carry my pixel either in my pocket or in a separate leather bag.
You need to wash it regularly and always have clean hands and always clean the lint and grime. It's super high maintenance, but I haven't found one to be better looking. This design and colors really showcase the beauty of the phone.
@@friendlysupporter1449 nah I ain't doing all that. My case is meant to be able to be used without caring about the condition of my hands. If I have to wash my phone case 100 times a day and wash my hands every time I want to use my phone I just won't use a case.
I tried a regular case like soft to the touch and it just felt like it was accumulating grime! Just swapped over to a case with a Magsafe ring on it and it's PERFECT! Android might not have Magsafe but this case does and the accessories are awesome for Magsafe!
Which of these (or any other) offers the best screen protection (most raised lip)? I'd need something with a raised enough lip that it allows for a glass screen protector without becoming flush with it. Thanks!
I've used Poetic's Revolution Cases for Years ever since the Google Pixel 3 but I had to stop using them because the Fingerprint Sensor no longer works with their built-in Screen Protector at least not on the Google Pixel 8. I now use the Dexnor Shielder Series Case it's just like the Poetic Revolution Case but it works with the Fingerprint Sensor.
Howdy, Josh. As a happy owner of a Poetic Guardian case on my previous Pixel 5, I wanted to make sure you tried two things in regards to the fingerprint recognition. Did you try to enable, "Screen protector mode" in the Display settings? I had to do so to get the device to respond accurately while wearing gloves. Other than that, did you also try to add your fingerprints to the device after you installed it into the case? I currently own the Ghostek Nautical Slim for my P8 and they specified doing so, although I didn't think it would matter anyway. So far it seems to work pretty well.
I wish Spigen Thin Fit had MagSafe, it's a really nice case. At least their previous ones used to have grooves on the back where a metal plate could be placed. Not sure why they got rid of it, it was their trademark feature.
if you want high quality, superior protection and are willing to spend a bit more buy a dbrand case. it feels amazing. its solid, snug and will last as long as your phone. not to mention to awesome skins they have available and built in magsafe magnets
I love the official google case i went with. Only thing is its very sticky in and out of pockets being rubbery. Suppsoe thats a good thing, it wont slip out easily. My main thing now is to get a new case that protects the visor camera bar and the canera lens. Theres already a minor scratch on my lens
Thanks for this video. What do you think of the Spigen Tough Armor for Pixel 8? I have one on my Galaxy S23 and it looks solid and sits as glued. I'm thinking about ditching the protective glass.
Thanks for a great video. Would have been nice to see how compatible the cases are for having a screen protector installed as pretty much everyone does. Thanks again.
Hi, is the Mous case's material silicone like the official Google one? Or is it more soft and plastic-y like the Spigen Thin Fit? I want a super slim case but I don't like the silicone feel of the official case...
@@FishBeeProductions Would you say the Mous compares to the official Pixel 7 case? I absolutely love the material in that case and I'm trying to find something similar for the 8

@@rafsdaman10 Interesting, the Peak Design case is actually thinner than the Parallax too, about as wide, but a tiny bit taller...
