Over the past 2 years I've been a part of two Forex communities. The first was big on manual backtesting (going bar by bar in something like ninjatrader or trading view) and writing down your entry, stop, and target in excel. The other community talks about simulators and Forex Tester a lot. I haven't been able to get a clear answer, but Forex Tester just seems like a more simplified way to do manual back testing that I would otherwise do with ninjatrader or Trading View. Am I missing something? Am I simply paying for the convenience of not having to update an excel sheet as I go through the backtesting?
Basically yes, FT is more convenient and will speed up the process. Both methods can achieve the desired result. I teach both. Forex Tester does have the added benefit of storing your testing files, so you can go back to it later and see every trade just by clicking on the trade. This helps with practicing a chart pattern later. I prefer FT because it saves time and that's the only thing you can't get back.
does mt4 indicators/templates/EAs all work on Forex Tester 4? does it run just like mt4? also, it there live charting, or is all data delayed/historical? also, it is very smooth to transition between timeframes, right? e.g., analysis on daily and H4, entry on M15. it is possible to switch between timeframes smoothly, right?
Hugh - will you be doing a review of FT 5?? There only seems to be one full review by some Japanese bloke on you tube. How come no one else seems to go near FT5?
@@TradingHeroes I've purchased it a while back but have not got around to using it yet. I would love to properly understand the ins and outs of using this software. The interface is way nicer than ft4. The one only downside I've found so far is when going to a certain date in a project that's already loaded it takes a colossal amount of time. But on the whole it seems promising.
Cool, same here. I have it loaded, but haven't sat down with it yet. Some preliminary feedback from others is that it runs slow. We'll see. They have a tendency to be like Windows...a great version, then a not so great one.
D you know if there's software like this for cryptocurrencies? I know that with FT4 you can backtest the major cryptos, but I'm not sure if there's a better option for doing backtesting on those assets.

The MT4 plugins don't work. You need to get them converted. For the rest of your questions, download the free demo and find out.
@@TradingHeroes thanks! may i ask how i can get them converted? is the conversion free/easy to do?
