My friend took me to the side of the line and I followed her. Mashallah it was actually easier than I thought. I didnt really know what to say, so I just made dua for my sister and family. I went to Jummah for the first time by myself two weeks ago, and even though I have gone before for Eid prayer with family I was still so anxious! But I'm glad I went since the few other women that were there were so nice, which helped make me less anxious overall. My local mosque isn't far from my work and I felt really grateful to use my lunch break to go.
Alhamdulillah I went to a masjid today and I was literally thinking "I wish I knew people who understood the anxiety this gives me" and then this video came up!!!
I Have low vision (legally blind) and went to Mosque for the first time. I was a little nervous on the way but as soon as I met the Sister I had spoken with on the phone, my anxiety disappeared. She was so welcoming and friendly and eager to show me around, introduce me to the Imam and his wife, a few other brothers and sisters and even had a welcome kit ready for me. I had called to see if the local Islamic library had any large print materials to further my knowledge as soon I plan to do Shahadah, InshaaAllah, and ended up spending a good couple hours chatting and hunting down a large print physical copy of the Clear Quran from a publisher she regularly deals with when purchasing library materials as she quickly realized that though she was prepared to give me a copy of Quran, the print would just be too small. I admitted I already had a regular print copy and then she insisted to call the publisher friend herself to ensure I get a copy I can manage. I’ve never had anyone work so hard for someone they just met. It’s heartwarming. Mashaallah

I am in the USA, so I don't know what the situation was like in the UK or other countries. When I took Shahada in 1994 in the only mosque in my area that I knew about and could get to, converts tended to be generally ignored. Not repulsed, just not particularly welcomed, either. They tended to remain quite isolated. There was no one I really felt comfortable talking to (and was not well formed in the first place), so when I began having problems, I was alone and eventually drifted away from Islam. As far as I know, my experience was not particularly unusual for that time. Whether it is any better today I don't know, as I am out of touch now. Hi Mazita, non Muslims can go to mosque anytime. Just wear modest clothes will be sufficient. But some mosques opened during specific timing, i.e during 5 daily prayers and Friday prayer, therefore if you know the mosque number and make enquiry about visitation, that would be great. As a Muslim revert/convert do you feel more Western or more Islamic in your identity? Like identified more with Middle Eastern culture, customs, Arabic language, religious rules, sharia? Or more interested in Western concepts like democracy, liberalism, neo-liberal economics, social justice, feminism, BLM, secularism, freedom of speech, capitalism, etc?
My Sister, The Women’s are not required to pray five times in the Mosque. In the Islam religion, it is better for the Women to pray at home instead of Mosque. Ramadan is an exception.
Thanks for the video its very helpful. I want to go but im terrified I'll do something inappropriate or be seen as a rude outsider because I don't know Arabic.
Subhanallah! Thanks to your video I decided to reach out to a masjid in Bradford. I now have a weekly online lesson, I have been to the mosque several times now and I have taken my Shahadah! Alhamdullilah
I go to the mosque and people look at me as if I have never worked in my life or like I'm on government benefits. This was mostly the case when I moved to Liverpool, Merseyside. I actually invest in properties and other investments but they just look at me in an unwelcoming way just because I might dress down at times! There are some very friendly Muslims in the mosque too but some of them see like they aren't very accepting of me.
Good tips. I agree completely. The various styles of dress for sisters in the Masjid really depends on who was there to work/prepare food etc, who had plenty time to dress before hand, and those who came and have to go straight back to work afterwards. This video was great. I'm going to be hitting my 3 month Mark as a Muslim shortly and believe me, I was wondering what was up with these things as well. My first time at Masjid was when I took shahada, and I think I was well dressed, but the leaning forward for prayers and hijab relocating itself is a real struggle. I have a2 piece for prayers at home. You did a great job explaining for "newbies"
It is nice if you could present in your new video titled " ISLAM MADE SIMPLE" for new reverts. Maybe you could collaborate with imams or Muslim scholars on how to make the video as simple as possible and interesting to new reverts. You could also start with the presentation of simple hadith one topic at a time and background short stories of all the prophets.
Masha’allah just like to add, Jummah means Friday, I know we associate it with Friday prayers but when I’m context depending on what that context is it’s either Jummah if talking about “Friday” or Jummah prayer(s) if talking about what you did/where you been. Allahumma barik
I went to Mosque for the first time today. I was made welcome. I took a scarf to use as my hijab, but my fringe kept showing. The lady next to me kept trying to help me with it. I didn’t even know that you should wear a cap under your hijab.
Please look at the pilgrimage at Mecca, Madina.Black while, tall short Arab non Arab, all diversity converged on a single target of religious practices only . All as a whole representing.Mosq use are also like that ,noboy feel alone.People encouraged to have man of different races. In childhood we also feel scared even while passing by a mosque,in a mosque felt stranger .care if anybody looks at etcetera. But a frequent visit overcome such unusual.syndrome. On the other, individual differences may give rise to unnecessary queries thal can be avoided by ascribing no importance. Most important matter is that reverts follow Islam by knowing,by realising but we mostly follow Islam by imitating which is not the way,may influenced by customs and culture. Our joy For reverts know no bounds.we are very much delighted to watch you all .We appreciate your efforts, enthusiasm, endeavour, for learning Quranic values and norms, feel sorry for our shortcoming as many of us muslim by name only, many of us not following Qur'an and sunnah properly.May Allah guide us all.
I don’t know anyone and I don’t connect with people easily. No one was unwelcoming, but they didn’t go out of their way to talk to me. I guess the burden of that is on me, so probably won't be making any friends. It’s not a requirement that I pray in a mosque, so I just stay home. Not how one makes friends, but at least I feel relaxed. Also, I don't lead myself too fast, often whoever leads prayer goes too fast. I don’t need it super slow, just a clear speech speed, sort of like the speech in this video or a touch faster. I understand people have work or family to get back to, but 40 seconds longer at prayer is not unreasonable.
I haven’t been to mosque because of the anxiety it gives me. This Ramadan I want to start going… idk what to wear or what questions to ask really…any advice?
I want to ask you something.. I really want to learn about islam. I believe in islam. Whenever I watch videos like this they make me feel so safe and welcome. I'm a catholic right now, but I don't want to be one. I would love to learn more about islam and even maybe one day convert. But my parents are super religious and take me to church every Sunday and make me go to the catholic school. I feel like they're blocking out what I want to be and who I am and I'm scared to tell them. My parents would be so angry they'd tell me stuff like "this is all because of your phone" and that "your believing in a lie" can someone please help me :( Have a good day :)
Of course, this all depends on your current status. If you're completely self sustaining I think it will be easier to tell them. From what you're saying it seems that you're still young, so at the time just try to learn more about Islam from reputable sources and never come to direct conflict with your parents until you're full adult, then they will understand that you made a decision based on full knowledge.
These topics are tough when you are dependent on parents. It's not exactly easy to address with them once you are independent, either, but it can be especially sensitive when you have the position of child and depend on them for so much. Do what you can, anything that is compatible with Catholicism, double down in those areas. Focus on character. When you learn about Islam, have some time with other religions too, parents might worry less if they see you reading about all religions. Let them feel better while you come to your understanding of Islam. Consider your manner and habits, what can you work on? It may help you one day if you were able to point at ways in which studying Islam helped you be a better person, better daughter. The results will serve you well no matter what happens.
I’m still nervous to go pray in the masjid 😬 My issue is how do I pray with someone leading the prayers?? Do I say anything aloud, do I only say certain things out loud, do I remain silent throughout… How close should I stand to the next person 😰😬😅 Help!! The on,y thing I DO know when someone else is leading, is to wait until they’re done with one part, then you do it after…like bending down, going into sajdah, etc.. But everything else I mentioned above, I have no clue 🥺
You will say your prayer silently (not loud) behind imam (the one who is leading the prayer) and follow the imam in every part of the prayer. You can stand with next woman with just touching your shoulder to her (not too much apart).
@not important I have now once and Alhamdulillah it felt so nice 💗💗💗 It was Jummah and I didn’t know it was only two rak’a but Alhamdulillah I followed everyone else 💖
Today lots of Catholics and Christians are converting to the Islamic religion and becoming as Muslims. This makes me feel proud and happy. After they become Muslims they take their time to read books of Islamic teachings, trying to learn Quran and understand its meanings, searching Islamic books that relates the past happenings during the time of Prophets and their way of life. The Catholics and Christians already carry with them good feelings towards others, good thinking, good heart, helping others, helping feelings, never utter lies, always follow the correct path in their life and things. In most places they are following the teachings of our Prophet Muhammad (Sal) even before they embraced Islam. Today our original Muslims are still studying the lessons and teachings said by our Prophet Muhammad (sal) and still those teachings are heard, studied and later not practicing or simply forgotten. These things are widely happening now. So I feel so much happy to see the Catholics and Christians brothers and sisters embracing Islam. When they come into Islamic and become Muslims, they bring good hearts with them, I mean they come with good feelings, good heart, good terms, good thoughts, as helping hands, as helpfully people, as honest people, as innocent people, as kind people, as truthful people, as pure hearts, as nice people and then they become more and more closer to Allah. There are differences between the Original Muslims and the those who embraced Islam. I always want to get United with Catholics and Christians brothers and sisters who embraced Islam and to deal with them throughout. They are the Muslims who gets closer and closer with Allah, I mean the Catholics and Christians who embraced Islam
I want to go to a mosque to learn how to pray but I’m anxious… I just want to go there but I’m afraid that there will be no one to help me… I don’t know..
Learn it easily on youtube, after 2 months of practice, you will find it very easy, making a wudu will take 2 minutes, and a prayer 5_7 minutes. Then go to mosque and ask the imam to correct your small flaws.

Could u plz dedicate a video to show especially non muslims how Islam has made women queens and given her more rights than any other belief or ideology out there
May Allah guide all of ahle Europe on the straight path Amin
As a Muslim revert/convert do you feel more Western or more Islamic in your identity? Like identified more with Middle Eastern culture, customs, Arabic language, religious rules, sharia? Or more interested in Western concepts like democracy, liberalism, neo-liberal economics, social justice, feminism, BLM, secularism, freedom of speech, capitalism, etc?
My Sister,
The Women’s are not required to pray five times in the Mosque.
In the Islam religion, it is better for the Women to pray at home instead of Mosque.
Ramadan is an exception.
Thanks for the video its very helpful. I want to go but im terrified I'll do something inappropriate or be seen as a rude outsider because I don't know Arabic.
Dear sister Allah bless you you are doing great work on this planet
Mash'Allah
Subhanallah! Thanks to your video I decided to reach out to a masjid in Bradford. I now have a weekly online lesson, I have been to the mosque several times now and I have taken my Shahadah! Alhamdullilah

Masha Allah...you look lovely in the hijaab!
Looking great on this hijab colour and style
Maashaallah !
Masha Allah ...cantik
Oh , Ellie , you are one of the greatest women alive. May Allah bless you and your future.
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩🥰
Ma'sha'Allah Tabar'Allah... you look amazing... In Hijab... May Allah Subhanah wa ta'ala... Bless you and give you guide...Ameen Rabbe'Alimeen...!!!
I'm subscrip you from Indonesia
Masha’allah just like to add, Jummah means Friday, I know we associate it with Friday prayers but when I’m context depending on what that context is it’s either Jummah if talking about “Friday” or Jummah prayer(s) if talking about what you did/where you been.
Allahumma barik
Greeting from Singapore, to all reverts Ahlam Wassalam
Allah bless you dear
May Allah (swt) bless you❤
Allah guide all of China to the straight path Amin
Masha Allah
You have so beautiful color on your hijab😊😍
I went to Mosque for the first time today. I was made welcome. I took a scarf to use as my hijab, but my fringe kept showing. The lady next to me kept trying to help me with it. I didn’t even know that you should wear a cap under your hijab.
May Allah bless you sister and fill your heart with faith and happiness
Please look at the pilgrimage at Mecca, Madina.Black while, tall

Arab non Arab,all diversity
converged on a single target of religious practices only . Our joy For reverts know no bounds.we are very much delighted to watch you all .We appreciate your efforts, enthusiasm, endeavour, for learning Quranic values and norms, feel sorry for our shortcoming
as many of us muslim by name only, many of us not following Qur'an and sunnah properly.May Allah guide us all.
Love from Bekasi, Indonesia
I haven’t been to mosque because of the anxiety it gives me. This Ramadan I want to start going… idk what to wear or what questions to ask really…any advice?
You are beautiful and elegant, you can think of a project for Islamic women's fashion.
OR
Marry me and take me with you around the world 🤣
Ma Shaa Allah 🙏. Nice advice. May Allah keep you safe and healthy. Aameen 🙏.
My parents would be so angry they'd tell me stuff like "this is all because of your phone" and that "your believing in a lie" can someone please help me :(
Have a good day :)
And I'm sorry no one answered you till now
These topics are tough when you are dependent on parents.

Masha’Allah ❤️ needed to hear this.

Quinn mashallah you look beautiful in the scarf!
Sister Allah bless you, you are so cute.
