    Great video Ellie,
    It's easy to forget how beautiful the UK is when you live in London, like 19:29 is so beautiful. I think next year when the winter passes I will try to do this walk (maybe just 1 day at first). I hope the storm didn't impact you too much :)

      Thank you so much :) Yes, its definitely a very special part of the path with the dense, old, lush woodlands that can't be found elsewhere on the coast path. I was soooo happy :)

    Another great video Elli. Thank you for reminding everyone what is such a diverse Island Britain of ever changing land and sea scapes. Some parts I’ve never visited, so an excellent introduction to them. Always impressed at your enthusiasm and energy (included Otto) It sometimes takes a fresh pair of eye to remind us what we have on our doorstep.
    👍🏻🥾🥾

      Oh, these lovely words really mean so much. I'm happy that you like the videos and that I can show the beautiful parts of the UK. Thank you so much :) That's one of the things I love most about hiking in the UK: There's so much variation 😍 And the sea is just something very special for me as I live near the Alps, so a loooong drive away from the sea...

    It was great to see you walk this part. I walked this section last month and it's nice to relive it. It's funny that I stopped to take pictures at all the places you stopped to film. It was mostly sunny for my walk although Lynmouth to Combe Martin was extremely windy, I could barely stand on the Great Hangman. I started walking up the little hangman but had to give up as it was too windy with my pack!
    Such a lovely part of the path. I think the Exmoor section is my favourite. Although the SWCP is just so beautiful. The coast path is being extended all the way around England at the moment. So at some point soon I'll be able to Minehead along the coast from my house. I'm very much looking forward to that although that parts definitely not as lovely.

    • @ellihikes
      @ellihikes  Год назад

      Thank you so much for your kind words :) That's so true - I definitely wouldn't want to walk that section in high winds 😬 It's a beautiful section and so unique on the path with the dense old woodlands :)

    Hello Elli
    Loving your video series. Just watched the latest video which was lovely as we know the area well.
    Like you, we love Porlock Weir and Lynmouth so thanks for the pictures of Lymoouth that brought back great memories. A shame that you didn't have room for some shots of Porlock village as it's a lovely place too - but you obviously can't record everything!
    On to Ilfracombe, one of my favorite places although I know the hills are really steep around there!
    Best wishes to you and a special biscuit for Otto!

      Thank you so much, that really means a lot :) The coast path is so stunning! That's so true, Porlock Village is really beautiful. I went to explore it last year (loved it a lot!) and stayed at the campsite there missing a part of the Salt Marsh which is why I chose to walk to Porlock Weir directly this time :)

    HI Elli and Otto.
    Wow there was a couple of steep hills in this one and some very narrow paths. But very beautiful views again.
    😋✌️

    • @ellihikes
      @ellihikes  Год назад +1

      It's soooo beautiful, but also very hard work to get those views ;) This was the trail with (by far!) the most elevation/km on our JoGLE. There are no mountains, but climbing up a 100m high cliff from sea level 8 times a day also adds up 😂

I couldn't believe when I done long distance hiking how much your body change's. What a beautiful area , can fully understand why it means alot to you . Lovely seeing Otto really enjoying himself . Wishing you both the best take care both 👍

      Thank you so much :) Yes, true. Even after eating a lot more, I still kept losing a bit of weight. The last part was physically challenging - but also incredibly beautiful! It's just something else, probably even more for someone like me who's living an 8-hour-drive away from the sea :)

    Soo beautiful with the yellow gorse and purple heather, but, yes, the hills! 😮
    I've noticed that you don't mind camping right next to the path, rather than hidden. 🏕
    Brilliant that the tree kept your tent dry! Small victories! 😁
    Perhaps Otto had an itchy back from the harness ? Often it's just pure happiness tho 😊
    The coastal towns with rivers from Exmoor occasionally get hit by flash floods when the moor becomes saturated by slow moving or stationary rain fronts. Lynton & Lynmouth were flooded in 1952 and it looks like the river banks have been redesigned to cope with large volumes of water (20x?) +15:20. The Boscastle flood was more recent, in 2004.
    Otto's injured look, when you only gave him half the cheese 🤣😍🐾

    • @ellihikes
      @ellihikes  Год назад +1

      Hahaha yes - the most elevation/km on our whole hike. The coast path is definitely strenuous on a lotof parts :) I normally don't camp that close to the path but I knew from last year that on this particular section it was basically the only spot within almost 1.5mi. The rest is either dense shrubs or really steep on both sides of the very narrow path. I think the rolling around is Otto's sign/outlet of excitement and joy as he also does it on the sofa and when we're playing :) Thank you so much :)

    • @Daytona2
      @Daytona2 Год назад

      @@ellihikes 😮😮I never realised that about the elevation/km! That's really saying something. I bet a lot of people are surprised by it.

    Lynmouth is a wonderful little place, but there is a dark day in its history when it was hit by a massive flood that claimed the lives of 34 inhabitants back in 1952. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynmouth_Flood
