Excellent video as usual. You'd think someone would invent portable boots that come over the knee for those tricky bogs. 😮 Keep up these simple, joy filled treats.
Lovely video - again! You really bring the wilds of Northern Scotland to life. I can feel the wind, hear the flock of geese, smell the pine and know that sense of dismay as your feet sink into the bog and you know your boots and socks and feet are now soaking wet and there is no way of getting them dry again short of a heatwave or a hotel with a drying room. Your dedication to making good videos shines through; in the last one, for example, there was a shot of you carrying Otto across a stream/burn. That meant you had to: carry camera and tripod precariously across the stream; set up the camera; wade back across the stream; catch Otto and carry him over, making sure you are in shot; pack up camera and tripod. Many people, me included, might decide they are just too tired for all that after a long walk but you did it and it was a great shot that enhanced the overall video. Very glad to see your subscriber numbers are going up nicely. You deserve it, and more!😀
Thank you so much, Nick! Your encouragement really means so much more than you probably realise 🥰 I really try my best in this (still very new to it!) but I'm having so much creating something. Even better if people are enjoying it, it means the world! So THANK YOU :) Side fact for that specific scene when I carried Otto: there were a few stepping stones and he often is very good at finding his own way. I only realized that he wasn't following me when I was on the other side, so I had to back anyway and thought of the camera in that moment 😅 otherwise I probably wouldn't have done it either but I'm glad I did when editing the video 😅☺️
@@ellihikes I think you have a real talent for making these videos! You bring together all the different components so well ( video clips of lovely scenery, your commentaries to camera and how you engage with your audience, and then how you edit it). I've done some of these in a different context; I know they are a lot of work and I hope you don't get bored doing them as I've enjoyed every one, so thank you!
The Oykel Bridge hotel is a great spot, and the staff very friendly. I’ve had a resupply send there twice, but it’s always booked out so never stayed there. Maybe this year I will.
Weiter so, Elli! Du bist eine große Inspiration :-) Und wenn Du das nächste Mal durch ein sumpfiges Gebiet musst, orientier Dich bitte an Otto. Er scheint zielsicher einen etwas trockeneren Weg zu finden ;-)
No, there are no special requirements and no bigger animals. In bothies (shelters) there are sometimes boxes to keep it safe from martens or mice or I hang my food bag on hooks on the wall. When camping, I'm keeping my food in a drybag in my tent and nothing ever happened so far. 😊
I’m loving watching this series - thanks very much
Thank you so much, that means lot 😊
What a pair!
Absolutely loving your travels, Elli. Stunning scenery. Incredibly well done.

Otto is so cute. Dogs make the best hiking companions :) 😊

😅😅🙈 Ja, müsste ich wohl machen 😅
Another great video! You're both doing so well! Do you have to store your food a certain way out there? I'm unfamiliar with the wildlife you have.
