  • Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf shows you how you can hit longer and more consistent shots by managing your body's tension levels throughout the swing.

    I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
    My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
    My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

    Don't here many people on RUclips talk about this, most important part of Golf and not easy to do, I know this is correct but to get this mindset is not easy. We all try to kill the ball.
    Certainly something i struggle with. Someone explained this too me as running with Tense leg muscles.
    Went from 6-9 last season, looking forward to the lockdown finishing and trying out some of ur tips. Dislocation from the ball,coming off from the ball is what stood out for myself
    Thanks

    So I've watched this video several times now. In my observation I noticed that, when you had " noodle arms, you had a nice divot. When you had tight arms, you had no divot. This is huge because, I was swinging with lots of tension and I never had consistency. Some fat and some thin.
    After I lost the tension in my hands and arms, I had KFC everytime. It was the 1 missing link to my swing my whole life. Thanks Tom. Your a great teacher. Your online school is the best $10 a month I've ever spent. I feel like I should be giving much more.

      I saw your comment about this in the school's community platform, Desmond. I am very glad that you benefited to such an extent from this tension tip from the SG archives!!
      Thanks very much for sharing your success here in the public forum. I truly appreciate your support, and I am thrilled for your improvement!!

    For anyone out there struggling to tuck your hips on the downswing, ease up on the tension. You'll find that once that shoulder is down, the hips are automatically going to try and shift foward and turn.

    I’m always stiff, got to think of being a smooth playa. I still like some pressure so I’ve been thinking of a simple swing though. Loose squeeze and throw. Loose backswing loose to start the downswing and give a squeeze at about waste high into the follow through

      Sounds like you're developing a workable feel for entire your swing motion. Nice job figuring out what performs best for you!

    I’m finding it tough to keep the tension out of my arms while maintaining that “Hogan” bicep tight to the pectoral feeling. Seem to get great power but still chunking way to often. I’m definitely missing something here to connect the two

      Hi Jeremy,
      Since you mentioned him, due to their popularity I've combined my Hogan lesson videos into a playlist series on this channel, and you may find some useful information in them. Here's the link: ruclips.net/p/PLV62KxT7Mp7IyNDRp0hZK1F1OScdXx-u1
      Beyond that, it is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, and common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a sequential learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards learning and owning this swing. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only system for the full swing, the short game, and much more. The school's intuitive course layout greatly simplifies the entire process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm constantly adding new content. This will really put you on the fast track towards learning everything in a well-organized, self-guided fashion. Here's a link if you'd like additional info: saguto.golf/p/golf-swing-simplified-tom-saguto-pga.
      Best regards,
      Tom

    Very good lesson. Little tension equals effortless power instead of powerful effort (or something like that). After 3 shoulder surgeries I have become a believer in getting rid of the tension. Golf is unlike karate where one strikes the makiwara board or opponent with tension from feet thru body to fist (but moves quickly without tension). This concept does not apply to a golf swing. Lesson could be improved with a quick guitar rendition at the end; miss those.

      Glad you enjoyed the lesson, and I do appreciate how you contrasted the golf swing from karate!

    I noticed that in both swings your left arm was on your shoulder angle at the top of the swing. I cannot do this. My left arm is always below my shoulder angle. If this make sense to you, how would one correct this problem. Thx. Tom

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 лет назад +1

      If your arm is consistently below shoulder plane you will need to achieve some "elevation" in that arm. I am not saying to lift the arms exclusively but you will have to raise the arms upward just a little bit to achieve this. It will FEEL like a lift but it won't actually be you lifting the arms.

      Tom thanks for everything. I have been hitting plastic whiffle balls at home. Your videos have made me certainly more consistent and I don't hit in front of the ball anymore. Went to the range tobhit real bals with high expectations but had no distance. I think after seeing this I was simply very tense, pretty good form I think, but club head speed damaged severely with tension. I think this is the culprit. I will work on it..

    Tension = no elasticity in your muscles. Elasticity = distance. It can be very weird to begin with as you feel 'out of control'.

    When you try to keep left arm straight it causes tension

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Год назад +1

      The "feel" is straight arms, Mike; not stiff or tense arms. When you let your left arm hang down naturally it is likely straight and devoid of tension. Now, simply repeat that with a club in your hand.
