  • My first Horween boot from Meermin, I asked for these to be upgraded to a handwelted boot (to be clear I paid for this). My most expensive Meermin to date at 710 USD.
    Jumper boots in burgundy shell cordovan.
    Here is my overall sizing guide, inspired by the Skoaktiebolaget sizing guide.

    The look beautiful
    I would have liked to have seen what pants you wear with them? A navy suit? Slacks? Lederhosen?

    Hand welted, shell and JR soles for under $800 is a steal. I love Meermin, my only complaint is the boot lasts are huge and shoe lasts are small.

    • @niniengineering
      @niniengineering 3 года назад

      What did you exactly mean with small and huge? The width/volume of the shoe or the length?

    • @jeffreygoss8109
      @jeffreygoss8109 3 года назад +1

      @@niniengineering I’d say both. I guess the boots are designed to wear thick or double socks. I would say more wider than longer but the boots are close 3/16 of an inch longer.
      I am exactly an 8 D US on the Brannock and buy UK 7 in Loake, Barkers and crappy Trickers but with the Meermins (hiro or hok) the UK 7 need an insole. Not a big deal really but if a 6.5 was available I would have tried it.

      @@jeffreygoss8109 Thanks for your fast advice. It would be interesting if only the high boots are designed this way or the chukkas too.

    • @jeffreygoss8109
      @jeffreygoss8109 3 года назад

      @@niniengineering I would guess so. Chukkas are usually tighter because you only have 2 eyelets, but I can’t guarantee that. Look at the last descriptions or order two sizes. They are good about that.

    John what’s going on with Meermin lately? Looks like online they’re phasing out Linea Marstro and no MTO?

      I’ve been away from Meermin for a while. I’ll get back to you.

    Looks great. How would you compare the overall last definition on Meermin boots compared to the likes of Carmina, TLB or C&J? Does the boot have good shape? I don't mind having to break these shoes in for a good time as long as they look just as sleek...looks it what matters to me these days.

    • @wishoeguy
      @wishoeguy  3 года назад +2

      Each boot has a somewhat different last. Jumpers are more bulbous. Chelsea’s are sleek. Carmina allows you to choose your last so you can put a sleek last on a traditionally round shoe. I did this with my split toe boot from Carmina. Nothing else like it. That said Meermin last shapes are very contemporary with Carmina.

    I have heard Meermin’s break in period is a bit stiff compared to other brands. How did you find the footbed when you land on the ground with these boots?

    • @wishoeguy

      Stiffer than hand welted but bearable.

      4 eyelets and 4 hooks for the laces. Except in this case the boots have 5 eyelets …

      @@wishoeguy I was wondering. Also, is the shell color 8?

    • @wishoeguy
      @wishoeguy  3 года назад

      Yes. It’s the typical eggplant shade about half way between an Alden and Allen Edmonds. Same variety of color when In direct light. Cloudy though so not good sun for the photos. I posted on the community and on Meermin Enthusiasts the best pics so far.

      It’s not a lot of money for boots. But when shell boots are normally 340 from this brand, 710 is a lot
