That brief conversation with the police officer was interesting. (You could tell it was a city officer because his car said "Police" on it and he mentioned the name of the town.) The officer is leaving to work for the railroad because of the low pay, which is a serious issue in law enforcement in general. They should be paid better.

So sick of seeing these people in this country. 17yrs can't speak english, just driving around breaking the law. warrants everywhere but she will probably just be released and fail to appear again. its true clown world we are in. "SIDE NOTE" love our troopers they are the best. just being put in horrible situations.

Many gringos have lived here in Mexico for 20 years and they don't even speak basic Spanish. Who told you that in the United States of AMERICA YOU ONLY HAVE TO SPEAK ENGLISH? It is the country that does not have a specific language. Study more History about UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Tell me how many languages do you speak?

@@lucyzazueta7572What she’s trying to say is that if you have been in a country for 17 years and the primary language is English, maybe it would be helpful & beneficial to learn the language so that it’s easier to communicate with the inhabitants of that country.
Study more history of migration and how to acclimate into a society. No one cares about Mexico.

@@lucyzazueta7572 If I ever lived in Mexico, I would learn that language, because it is a BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE. In the USA, English is considered the most specific one spoken. I personally have no problem with people speaking their native tongue, but why not learn the local lingo? Those who can speak more than 1 language are able to get many jobs quicker and faster than others (with more pay too). I learned basic Spanish because of co-workers. Lost it all when we no longer worked together, and never saw each other. I was also told by so many that until they are comfortable with us "gringos", they would only pretend not to understand, because of shyness, embarrassment in speaking English, or lack of trust in people. No disrespect, but America really does use our English as the 99% language spoken over all. Those that really want to be in our country, from generation to generation have been taught English in school, and still do, with many high schoolers learning Spanish in the last few years of schooling.

That’s the way every country should be. If you’re going to LIVE there speak the language within a certain timeframe. Heck most nations teach English as a required course to their young children. I actually think it’s wise to learn Spanish just so one can tell what they are saying in front of you. As a trauma nurse I picked 38:18 up on Spanish pretty fast working in ElPaso because all we saw right there at the border was Mexican citizens coming over for free health care

And, yes, she should have an American driver's license but, heck, troopers stop lots of folks born and raised here every day that don't bother to get a driver's license . . .then when stopped they get out of their vehicle wailing they want to call their momma and "I didn't do nothin" (regardless of why they were stopped).

For those who have commented on the woman's very obvious poor American English skills after stating she had been in the country for 17 years, you do realize that assimilation isn't a natural process. Given the number and concentration of native Spanish speakers in the US and accommodations made to Spanish speakers, many have no real need to speak even rudimentary American English. It's always best to assume that someone that appears Hispanic knows more American English than they acknowledge for many reasons.

The trooper chose where to stop the vehicle. He didn't make a good choice. The driver did exactly what the law requires. Law enforcement officers need to plan their stops including considering in a place where it's most safe.
