This is one of the five MGs I’m getting for Christmas. Along with the GM Sniper II, Jesta, Zeta Plus, and Sinanju Stein. This has always been my favorite Gundam design in animation. I think the F90 beats it out by a little.
I always find that weird, not because of the fact that they're based off cars, but the fact that they look more like they're based off aeroplanes to me. The F91 itself looks like a jet, the shoulder and the wing just "seems jet" to me, it looks like something a guy wearing a pilot jacket would wear, and yeah the name F91 is also an obvious reason.
This and the Rx 93 are my favorites. I saw the F 91 at the model store. I was shocked! I never knew there was a master grade. I was about to get the Sazabi or The Rx 93 verkas. I decided to go for the F 91. I love this Gundam for the aesthetics. It is so under graded. This kit is a must-have. For some reason, this kit is seldom produced. The cost was $50.00. It was a lucky find. I will get the verka version next time.
Amazing kit, so tiny but so much detail. Thanks for the video! Do you take requests? I had one if you do. The Moderoid Mazinkaiser from Good Smile Company. It is the best non-Bandai model kit I have ever seen. And it's about the same price as a Master Grade. I'd love it if you could take a look at it! Thanks again for the awesome video!
Holy shit, you’re the first reviewer who has had the same problems with the VSBR posing, I was so angry with the build that I ended up breaking the kit, unfortunately. The build, weapons(excluding the VSBRs) articulation were all great but god. Fuck those VSBR guns.
3:50 This is actually because the F91 was 15 Meters in height, while the RX-78-2 and other mobile suits at the time were around 18 Meters. You can actually see Mobile Suits get bigger in Char's Counterattack, with the RX-93 being 22 Meters.
My first mastergrade I was wondering how big it was before building it. I can't wait to customize this it looks like a blast to build and a blast to customize
Watch out for those little round yellow pieces for the chest and head, if you drop one on the floor it gone lol, parts of this gundam are stupidly small and hard to put in place.
F91 is my favorite MS and i loved this build. Currently waiting on my twin vsbr F91. Maybe review Vigna Ghina to go with? They go together but sadly it was only a RE/100. Maybe it would give perspective on the quality difference between the MGs and Re/100's though.
The RE100s are basically big HGUCs. I like em, they are a little expensive for what they are, but the Gun EZ and Gunblastors are incredible. I love em to death. Now let's hope the Zaku II kai i have on preorder doesnt disappoint.
Got mine years ago and the kit doesn’t seem to hold up really well. Parts keep falling just by moving it. But i shall say the plastic is quite premium feel.
"he can probably hold the weapons better" "there's actually no pegs in the dedicated beam saber hands, so he has a little trouble holding them up" "Unfortunately, they're really difficult for him to hold." "On top of that, once you get the handles in his hand, the stupid interchangeable hands pop out." I really do loathe fixed pose hands on master grades.
In my opinion, personally I still prefer the 2006 ver. of the MG 1/100 "F91 Gundam" Ver. 1.0. I remember having bought that kit back in 2015, and it was a good kit. I just wish for Bandai Namco to make brand new 'Late Universal Century' Gunpla model kits. Plus I love the "Mobile Suit Gundam F91" animé film as well. 😅😊
Some of the stuff on the transformable head can be that small. The F91 is a small suit as it is, so this kit isn't that much larger than a standard RG.
I wouldn't say it's difficult, but there's a lot of small pieces and the dry transfers don't allow for any mistakes. I'm big fan of getting some experience with cheaper kits before diving into more expensive kits. There's nothing worse than spending $50, waiting a week for the kit to arrive at your door, spending 3 days building it, and... you tear the dry transfer.... So while I've seen people build this as their very first kit, I still think having a few HG's and an MG or two under your belt can't hurt. It's up to you though, whatever you feel comfortable with.
As of this writing, I'm in the midst of building an MG F91 2.0. Things are going smoothly, I've done three of the accessories (Rifle, shield, saber), but here's the thing: The beam shield seems to collapse on itself. Whenever I try to put in the two D-runner pieces into the B-runner base, they end up wonky, and as such, I end up causing the whole thing to pop out whenever I attach the shield part. Any help?
IMO, for build and appearance 2.0 is amazing. But still can't take my eyes of 1.0 amazing knee articulation 😂 I'm still beginner, only built the RG Mk II Titans, and have plan to build MG Mk II Titans and Granddaddy 2.0 before picking F91. What version should I pick?
It depends what you want. Do you want an amazing built and beautiful kit that has some wonky articulation and a difficult build? Or do you want something with less color separation but more articulation and an easier build. I have the 2.0 because it’s more accurate to the design, because it’s my favorite Gundam on screen. I enjoy the kit, but it does have some problems, like the knees and the hands that suck at holding its weapons.
Holding the kit right now (using it for another video). The pistons are connected to the foot as a whole, not the toes. The entire foot can tilt downward, moving those pistons, however the toes specifically are on a separate hinge and swivel, allowing for the tilt side-to-side and that crazy upward movement. The toes on their own can't move downwards. It's really strange. Still, some solid mobility. Such a great kit!
06:08 No, no the new hands DO NOT hold anything well. They fall out constantly. The weapons can slot into them, but good luck getting them to clip into the hand's base, and then, if you so much as turn the hand without holding it firmly, the grips pop out along with the weapon. These hands SUCK.
"You need at least 4 or 5 master grades under your belt before you even attempt this build." Me: ... *looks at my f 91 v2 thats in between my only other 2 master grades, mg wing zero and mg tallgeese"...
Congrats, man. I always tell people to air on the safe side with these kits. Nothing worse than spending $40, waiting a week to get it in the mail, then snapping something in the inner frame and it's game over.
Haha, I just always like to be more safe than sorry. There’s nothing worse than buying a $40 kit, waiting a week to get it delivered, then dropping one of those tiny yellow vents, and you’re screwed.
Because the F91 itself is a small mobile suit. It's only around 15 meters in height compared to the 18 meters or more of traditional Gundams like the RX-78-2.
The different eras in Gundam had different standards for their mobile suits. Though technically they are the same 1/100 MG scale, the actual height is based off their actual size in the anime. Typically the UC kits are the chonky big bois while the Seed, Wing and F91 kits tend to be on the smaller side
Same scale, it’s still 1/100. It’ll still match with other MG/RE1/100. The reason it’s smaller is because Japan had economic trouble around the time the original models were being made. Smaller kits means less plastic which is cheaper to produce.
Thanks for watching!

I fucked up the 91 decal while building one.
...he is now the F Gundam.
So, he is the new precursor to the G-Gundam now? Sweet.
This my second MG right after the (new) MG Barbatos. Let's say I did not expect the size difference, almost looks like a 1/144 next to it.
All the UC mechs shrank after F90, because of miniaturisation of reactors and frames, allowing mechs to not need to be as big.
This is one of the five MGs I’m getting for Christmas. Along with the GM Sniper II, Jesta, Zeta Plus, and Sinanju Stein. This has always been my favorite Gundam design in animation. I think the F90 beats it out by a little.
Damn, that's a good loot.
Where did you get the GM Sniper 2 from? I've been looking for it for quite a time now
You lucky bastard haha.
Fun fact most F91 designs are actually based on sports cars.

Best Gunpla channel out there.
This was my 2nd master grade and I made it look pretty good just not the dry transfers(the top coat didn’t go so well)

Good call on the 240z

Bandai wanted to produce smaller kits to lower cost. Thus smaller mobile suits.
This was my first kit! Youre not kidding about needing to be on your A game with the decals. I almost totally ruined the F decal.
I built the F91 V2 as my first MG, and it's pretty easy imo
I got the 1.0 n I like the stand came with it
The inner frame I just paint it with gold marker

V.S.B.R seem to have the same issue reguardless of what build they are on. I have the 1/60 scale F91 and it has the same issue with the V.S.B.R
When are you going to do the Nu Gundam 2000 Master Grade
Is the harrison madin custom based on this? The older one, not the pbandai one.

Love this kit but it felt like a real grade. Some of those stickers were absolute pain
It just makes me think of Gundam x/dx. Some elements are so similar
Are the small pieces in this as small as real grade pieces?

Why is the f91 kit so small. They skipped lots of details this way.
Because the F91 itself is a small mobile suit. It's only around 15 meters in height compared to the 18 meters or more of traditional Gundams like the RX-78-2.

F91 is a bloated mess as a story, but it has some damn nice mecha designs. This kit is definitely on my wishlist.
mistakes won’t be ruining a kit, it will be a fucking battle damage
That's a good way of looking at it lol
Bandai downsized because they wanted kits to be more affordable because they started targeting younger audiences. Victory Gundam :D
Actually... it was more due to the economic troubles Japan was going through in the 1990's.
*not recommended for beginners*
Me: *first MG*
why cant they standardize the sizes I want my collect to match
The different eras in Gundam had different standards for their mobile suits. Though technically they are the same 1/100 MG scale, the actual height is based off their actual size in the anime.
Typically the UC kits are the chonky big bois while the Seed, Wing and F91 kits tend to be on the smaller side
Same scale, it’s still 1/100. It’ll still match with other MG/RE1/100. The reason it’s smaller is because Japan had economic trouble around the time the original models were being made. Smaller kits means less plastic which is cheaper to produce.
Ya know the way you score you really should just do 1-10 unless you just really like doing the little bit of extra math at the end.
F91 is ugly af and the anime sucked ass but I was going to get this just for an interesting build. Still debating if it's worth it.
